Back in the day when magazines were a thing (remember those? Good times) they would occasionally come with a card from a game I knew nothing about. Usually that game would also be featured on a couple pages, but I would never have read that if it wasn't for the physical card they included. Just goes to show how invested people become if they own even just a single card.

I haven’t run a Pokémon League forever, but I remember running them in Libraries in the past. The kits were free back then, and as long as you were in good standing with the company and had a space that qualified anyone could start a league. You got a base amount of promos and as you signed people up and got them to connect with organized play the amount of promos and other league supply increased based on how many confirmed accounts you had registered.

Nice sneaky Ina stand~ I do hope some new brick and mortar game stores open up after all of this is over. While the social aspect is the most important thing to me, I see how the various strategies of promos/organized play can really help boost a scene and its game store. If organized play was allowed everywhere, that would be too much travelling for me and diminish how I would value each location.

Actually, just straight up print cards. Or be like my Takaaki Kidani card and print your business cards on card stock with your game's card back on it.

Promo cards are one of the best bits of any tcg or ccg they've one of the smartest ways to promote the game as well as giving unique ways to uptain cards like fast food/junk food promotions, magazine gifts, going to events or store to pick them up and in boxes/tins. Promos are inportant to an tcg for promoting, reprinting cards and for getting people hook onto the game or collecting.

are jimothys just code for speculative buyers? on that note i would be interested in hearing about a Errata Text on the TCG secondary market and how its changed throughout the years. Wasn't too long ago that people didnt just whip out their cellphone and look up a card on TCGplayer or other specialty retailers to gauge value when doing sales or trades and i'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Oh if you want a failed story about organized play. I can definitely tell you about the failed project that was the transformers trading card game organized play attempt. If you haven't heard about that or read about it already. Because that was a disaster. In fact the more you think about it the way wizards handled the whole card game was a disaster almost like they wanted it to fail

The big events at big conventions thing being a good way to demo a game to a card game audience is a very good idea, I know london comic con is the same time and place as ycs london (which for those who dont know, is the biggest yugioh event in the UK)

In my defense, I was dealing with Organized play from both the player and the demoer side before and had it entirely glossed over to explain it. Yes, I demoed a TCG once, before te game lasted less than a year. Apparently only Netrunner is allowed to be a successful game for card games based on a cyberpunk dystopia. Which is funny when it certainly wasn't the last time we would see Night City show up in a non tabletop RPG form. The only other game that I have any OP time in is Magic. Magic has been getting strained of late, and not just due to the pandemic.

You should make a video on the homemade trading card game community. There is big discord for it and tons of videos from smaller younger creators who are interested in making this sort of game. Most of them use the game crafter to make their games and it would be such a cool video to add new perspective on!

MtG works a lot like Yu-Gi-Oh does it seems, because the store I _used_ to go and play my MtG pre-releases stopped getting pre-release kits because of low turn out so now I'm going to a different store.
