What's on your list of pros and cons of living in Bozeman?
@Myspiritualrhythm Жыл бұрын
ICE. Lol. Why is there six inches of ice under the snow? I counted four people in casts, 7 car/truck accidents in TWO DAYS!! I've lived in many states and most people wake up and salt, shovel at 5am especially the businesses! I guess that's what happens when you don't have sales taxes? I've lived in some ultra intense snow fall areas where people take a little bit more responsibility. Buying a four wheel drive Subraru won't save you. Half of those accidents were Subarus.
@Myspiritualrhythm Жыл бұрын
Also why are there so FEW trails when you have so MUCH land? You have around 4000 miles of trail? Colorado has like 75,000. East coast states have about 12,000 on average. This is the most disappointing part of Bozeman.

You didn't mention Gallatin Canyon which was my favorite part when growing up in Bozeman (I fished there many summer days). Things are nice over on the Madison, as well. I graduated MSU and, attracted by bright lights, big city, girls and economic opportunity, I beat a path to California and got there before my graduation ceremony took place. I have no regrets as California has been very generous to me and the weather is great. Many people I meet have never been to Montana...I tell them it is a great place to visit during the months of July and August. Other than that time you take your chances although beautiful fall (September) days in Bozeman are magical. It is easy to be seduced by Montana when the weather is good. Visit during the winter months before you migrate. Not only does it get cold but the days are very short...I remember it turning dark at about 3:30 to 4:00 in the afternoon. And driving on snow and ice is a pain, and cold weather is always a battle. Bozeman was a very simple, safe and intimate small town when I grew up in the 50's and 60's. Most people were in the same economic strata (not poor, not wealthy) and MSU provided good sports entertainment.
@HarrisGroupMT3 жыл бұрын
Gallatin Canyon is definitely a pro to living here. Such a beautiful drive and some amazing fishing. You make a lot of good points and I hope people listen to your advice. Thanks Sean. What pro or con was your favorite?
@chetzaiko5112 жыл бұрын
You had better upgrade your video. After living in the Gallatin Valley just outside of Gallatin Gateway for 45 years, there is one pro that I went for. THE ROADS OUT. Traffic is miserable with so many impatient drivers. Too many seem to be in a hurry and also have no manners. No more pickups with Montana mud flaps being driven by a cowboy. It's BMW's, Mercedes and Land Rovers. Guess these newbies are trying to impress each other because all locals see are newcomers that are acting like they were still in their big cities. The cost of housing has gone up dramatically since this video. The average home price is now in the 900K range. People who were born and raised here can not only afford a home here, but also the rent. My son and his wife who were both born and raised here are in the process of moving to another part of the state so they can give their young son what they had growing up in the Bozeman area. He makes a well above average salary for Montana and is barely getting by. Being single now, I sold my home as it was getting difficult to maintain a 2 acre property and a 3,200 sq foot home. My kids wanted me to rent here but a decent apartment is over $2,000 a month and most places will not allow pets. I moved to the town that my son will be moving to in the northwest part of the state. Population is under 3,000 and it reminds me of how Bozeman was when I returned after spending time in the service. It resembles what Montana really is. Bozeman sure doesn't. The only thing I miss are my friends. I am SO HAPPY TO HAVE LEFT THE AREA.
@HarrisGroupMT2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your contribution. Bozeman is growing crazy fast and I do have an update for this video planned. Unfortunately I don't see Bozeman's growth slowing down any time soon. In fact, I expect the growth to speed up. There are some real challenges ahead. The price of housing being one of the biggest. I hear these same stories of people being priced out of Bozeman on a regular basis and it sucks. As someone that was looking for my next home in Bozeman for over two years I understand the struggle and sympathize with it. I'm glad you found an area of Montana that feels more like home. Where did you end up? Thanks for watching.
