Hey Erica your such an inspiration. I’ve been body boarding or kneeboarding for 30 + years travelling into Devon and Cornwall and struggled with the ever growing crowded lineups. But you seem to show a magical side to Cornwall I’ve missed since the early days. I really enjoyed your honesty about living there. As we’d always wanted to retire there but I felt the crowds both in the lineup and in general would make things to intense. However your video has really spiked a fresh thought. Perhaps we ought to look around Bude and crackington etc for some solitude. You should be supported by the Cornish tourist board. 👏👏 Love all your videos. Awesome thank you.

Hey Fred! What a lovely comment, thanks so much!! Yes Cornwall still has it’s magic!! Yes it does get busy in the summer but you can still find some quiet secluded beaches if you know where to look! Don’t give up on Cornwall! I’m sure you can find a lovely quiet place to retire! North Cornwall seems more spacious and quiet than down south and west Cornwall...that’s just my personal opinion! Ah I must get in touch with the Cornish tourist board!!😁 thanks so much for your kind words!! X

I love this, great video. I'm northern, but I married a Cornish girl and we met when we both ended up working in London. We moved down here four years ago, and everything you say is true. The food delivery thing made me laugh. It's so hard to order takeaway where we are, we end up driving to the place and ordering over the counter. To be honest though, we don't do takeaways as much since we've been here. Which is probably not a bad thing. Sometimes things that are easier in bigger cities are not necessarily good habits to get into! Our lives have changed completely, and while my native wife was instantly back to her outdoorsy Cornish self, it's taken me a long time to adjust. The winters are harsh and the weather in general is something I've struggled with, along with the fact that you have less choice in terms of shopping and you end up buying everything online, but the pros are so good that they far outweigh the cons. ☺️

Hmm. You made this video a year ago?? And you think there are no Uber Eats or Deliveroo in Cornwall?? ,🤔 Well there are, sorta: but it's just that the selection is a lot smaller, because not so many restaurants down here are with them yet. But these services have definitely improved during COVID. Check online with postcodes. Dunno about Bude, but they're definitely here in Newquay! Plus: pretty much all the Chinese, and some other services, deliver: and Domino's pizza delivery service is very good - and so are their opening hours in Newquay! 🙂 Time was - like in the 1990s/early 2000s - (I've lived outside of Newquay forever) - that the pizza, Indian or Chinese places wouldn't deliver, or not more than 3 miles from Newquay town centre. Now they all deliver about 5 or 6 miles out! 👍 Yes, Cornwall is *definitely* a good place to live, for your teleworker, or indeed digital nomad! 👍(Except - there aren't enough good cafes with good broadband - or pubs with it - like there are in America: and the broadband and Especially the public WiFi in and around Newquay is crap: and personally I would like to strangle the useless town council because of it! They are backward idiots.) But St Austell, by contrast, has had the entire town centre wired up to broadband/public wifi since about 2010: and I'm sure they've got supersonic broadband in Truro: because that town had fibre optic cables laid 20 years ago!) So. But you think "rents and house prices in Cornwall are cheap"?? 😂😂🤣 Compared to what, though? London? Probably. But there are FAR cheaper regions of the UK. But anyway. This longtime Newquayan is glad you like it here! 🙂
@hoshiko32973 жыл бұрын
Falmouth "becoming a popular student hub" yeah that's been happening for a very long time, ever since i was young, and considering it's a Uni town with the campus being on the same doorstep not much has changed. Also you say food deliveries, are you only talking in Bude? because i generally have no issue ordering food. Summer months are generally sucky for locals. When job's come into mind i wouldn't want to work at a local, considering i've been to a few :P the living and buying market sucks generally for first time local buyers. Renting can vary ofc in comparison to the cities, but you can look up to 1500 in fally town compared to something more worthwhile outside of the areas, but like you say local transport isn't great, but then again driving to work i always manage to get behind a bus ¬__¬.

There's also a bakery called Made Marion, it's run by the wife of the guy who runs Portreath Bakery I think - you can buy their products in Portreath Bakery shops.
