The only con I have with my 2002 7.3L Diesel Excursion since new, finding a home with a garage large enough was tough. Now it lives in our heated and air conditioned garage. With the performance upgrades our fuel mileage is over 20MPG. Amazing vehicle and now it is 20 years young. No need to fit this 4X4. 👍👍👍. 2-14-22

I have a 2003 Black Ford Excursion 6.0 L with 311,xxx miles. It has a 44 gallon tank, and gets 17.5 mpg in mixed driving. We had all six engine design flaws corrected at 297,xxx miles (cost $12K, including new front leather seats). Next, we will get it re-painted and put a new stereo in it. Well worth the maintenance costs. If you could buy a new one, it would cost $70k+. I am 6'7" tall, and about 335lb. We travel all over the country in this thing. The truck is fantastic.

I've got a bullet proofed 7.3 with a banks exhaust and bully dog programmer. I'm putting about 500hp on the ground and getting between 20 and 28 mpg. The last trip I took in it, I didn't do much less than 80 the whole time and managed to to get over 600 miles on just under 3/4 of a tank! It's worth the money to get the upgrades! They pay for themselves in no time!

I had an ‘05 6.0 Eddie Bauer 2WD with tuner, turbo back exhaust and after market intake. Drove it 130k miles and traded it 2010 for a new F-250. I had the split rear doors. Only had two issues. EGR gasket failed in warranty and some fuel injection sensor went bad, also in warranty. It got 20 mpg. It was really fast. Used to cruise at 100 on I-10 coming out of New Orleans heading to Houston. Wish I could get a new one with the 6.7. The aftermarket conversions for modern Super Duties are too pricey and I know from experience that conversions are usually full of issues.

Great choice man. Ford Excursion is the best SUV ever made. Pros of owning Excursion: you have high durable, very safe, reliable and solid bold looking SUV, which has largest cargo space, roomiest interior and the best towing capability. Cons of owning Excursion: every vehicle has pros and cons, but pros of owning Excursion are much more than cons. Main problem is that, all Excursions are used ones, with more 15-year-old age, and can’t buy new one. But, this old Excursions are still much better in many ways, than newer or even all new SUVs. Ford must produce Excursions again. Expedition MAX is nice, but Excursion is much stronger, much durable and much bolder SUV. In comparison of 2021 large GM SUVs, Expedition MAX and Navigator L are smaller and weaker. But, new Excursion will be the biggest and the strongest. So, Ford must show everyone who is the King is full-size SUV segment.

I love my 02 6.8 limited, paid $4000 cash and so far all its needed was oil changes and a alternator and threw a new battery in to be safe. Its at 204,893 miles as of today and still like new inside and out besides rocker rust. Great truck and the gas mileage does suck but i do use my cruise control alot which seems to really help. Also removed the rear seat to take some weight out because i dont use it. Ik it doesnt make much of a difference taking out the third row in a truck this heavy but figured it couldnt hurt. I travel 32 miles to and from work on roads that are 55 mph speed limits but im in a more country area in michigan that butts up near the suburbs so theirs not a insane amount of traffic or anything here. I set the cruise at about 57 mph and get on average between 14-15 mpg on the ol' lie-o-meter, highest it ever showed was 17.8 with cruise set to 60 on a brisk 36 degree morning but when Im stuck in city driving with lots of stop and go it instantly goes down to 7-9mpg. Highway driving usually averages me out at 15-16 mpg at 70 anything higher mpg suffers but again idk for sure because those average mpg trip meters like to lie. I also have no exterior mods like the brush guard, lift or anything besides rain guards on the windows and slightly bigger then stock tires.

First of all, it is a truck, not an SUV on an automobile chassis. 7.3L is amazing. Finding a garage for this truck is not easy, mine has lived in a garage since new, now in an air conditioned garage. 7 foot garage doors are just a little short. No rust on my Las Vegas Excursion, I still get “nice truck” from observers. First set of brakes lasted 80,000 miles. With a few updates from BANKS I get amazing fuel mileage. Enjoy your truck.

The door code is under the dash board in the center above the transmission hump. On the firewall, inside.. Way up there. But you can see it without removing anything. White back ground, black numbers. Nice Excursion you have there.

My daily is a prius and the 2000 6.8L V10 is my camping rig on the weekends. Yes, the prius is painfully slow and boring but it sure makes the 9mpg in the Excursion a little more bearable. :) Great video!

I always liked them, especially the 7.3L version. I own a Suburban Z71 AND LOVE IT. Fords to me tend to be harder to work on than GM v8 engines. Would love a 2500 Suburban with a Cummins 5.9/6.7, but a duraburb will do too.

The code for the door lock is on the module in the dash under the spot where the 4x4 controls would be. Pull the lower cover under the ac controls and you'll find it om there off to the left a little bit.

Not sure why Ford didn't have a locking mechanism for the rear seats when its folded in the up position. Maybe you want to lewve the seat it, just need the extra room with the seat in the up position. However, drive with the seat up and tap the brakes, that seat becomes a missile. Huge oversight by ford. Sp much so, GM made that a selling point for the Suburban.
