I also have the 3.7 and pulled a 3000lb boat right out of a steep boat ramp, no problem. In addition drove the boat up and down mountains with AC running, no problem, engine remains at a steady 195, transmission at 175. I had an envoy before and when the engine hit 230 going up hill, I got scared and turned off the AC (stayed at 230). What people may not realize is that the transmission in a Jeep is made by Mercedes! The 4.7 and 5.7 of course are nice, but will cost you 30-40% more in gas. Not hauling anything, I get 22mpg, and hauling the 3000lb boat, 14.5mpg, hauling a 700lb jet ski, 18.5mpg. The algorithm on the 4 wheel drive is excellent and works just as well as manual locking hub 4wd. Official rating on the 3.7L 4wd is 3500lbs, but as someone else commented, I don't believe there would be problem hauling boat of 5000lbs. My tow hitch was not factory, but installed by dealer after market.

Pros - none Cons - doesn’t sound like a 5.7 Hemi Ha just stirring. I do love the sound of the Hemi every single time I start it. I’ve got the 2006 model. My parents own the WK1 and WK2, both diesels. The 3.0 litre WK1 hauls arse, that is one nice machine. I tow 7000lbs/3.2t with our Hemi. She’s only got 40000 miles on her so is still like new. Great channel 🤘🤘

If you do buy a jeep grab the 4.7l v8 its a happy medium it has good power good mph (mine runs roughly 18 ish if you keep your truck up and it has a better chance of getting to top speed then the 5.7 the 5.7 is good on the 0-60 but it sucks once you get up to higher speeds 4.7 would definitely the better choice I have one and love it comes with qt2 and possibly qd2

I know it's 2 years later, but I've had my rocky mountain edition 3.7 for about two years. Just brought it to the garage to get an idea about what I would need to spend to keep it running pretty well as it's been. It just kicked over to 160k, it has been running pretty well. I have some oil leaks from the oil pan, rear main seal, and timing cover. Vacuum leaks from the plenum gaskets, and a small leak on the rear differential. Other than that, regular maintenance, stock everything other than stickers 🤣. Good running vehicles

I'm on my second WK. Just bought an 05 with 48k miles from the original owner 2 weeks ago (6th. Jeep vehicle since 2005). Bought my first in 2010, lifted it with a of Wrangler MTR's and racked up 178k miles and gifted it to my father in law. He drove it last night for the first time in the snow and is now fully converted to a Jeep guy. He called and said, and I quote "Now, I understand"

I too have an assortment of little things that are on the vehicle that do not work (bought it as is (i know i knowwww lol) that I would love to pick your brain about! Starting with a non functioning cruise control, 12 outlets (all 3) and rear hatch and locks not locking by the fob or power button. tomorrow i get to drop the tank and replace a fuel pump which i am not thrilled about but hopefully that will go well.

So I have a 4.7 WJ and a 3.7 WK and I will say working on them the WK is a lot easier in engine Department Lotta space and over all easier to change parts / maintenance. The 3.7 is absolutely gutless compared to my V8 though my WJ has the tow package and low gear and can tow almost 9,000 without a problem. Obviously the WJ come standard with the Quadratec 2 I have the select track so I can have two wheel drive which is really nice but the WK does not but for some reason the wk's really good in the snow WJ is worse. Actual off road capabilities though my WJ is lifted, wk stock, the WJ with the 4.7 has the goose to do anything where the 3.7 is good for light trail riding

I have the same jeep (almost) with similar mods and I tow a boat with mine, it does okay but it does make me nervous considering how high the gearing is. HOWEVER... this is the same transmission that is offered in the diesel and it's rated at 7400lbs. The only difference being the gear ratio is 373 in the diesel instead of 307 in my 2009 WK. You can buy a front and rear end from a 4.7/5.7 right out of a junkyard and some of them will actually do the work for you as well. It could be pricey but I think it would be the ultimate upgrade. I have the 4.7TB and hypertech tune, monroe load helper springs in the rear and combined with the 373 gears I think it would be a beast.

The one i was looking at was a good deal i could hade it for 2500$ but if its going to struggle for towing and off roading i think i should wait. Great video by the way.

If the oil has been changed regularly, it's fine. Clean the fuel injectors, change the coil packs and plugs, top off the transfer case. Use a good fuel additive to help clean the pistons heads and use it a few times a year. I bought mine with 112k and it's an incredible machine. Talk sweet to her and she'll take of you.

Both are loaded, little body rust, but standard no modifications have been done. Both having unknown electrical issues. Having a hard time deciding which one to go with looking for your opinion?

Your 2007 ARB bumper won’t fit a 2008 and you can’t beat the power of a 5.7 so id say go with the 2005.

I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.7l runs good. I replaced the spark plugs and coils. I had to replace my ac condenser. It runs good but I think I may have to replace my fuel pump. It stumbles when idle (hard to explain) and I have bad fuel gauge readings. I ordered a fuel pump and sending unit. Are there any other symptoms that may indicate it is my fuel pump for sure?? Pls help

Thanks for this vid! Love my 06’ 3.7L; it’s got about ~182k mi now. Do you have any links or more information where I can find the Hypertech tune? I don’t know much about them. Is it “plug and play” or would I have to send my ECU in? I’m avg about 12mi living in Chicago so I’ve been looking for a way to reduce my gas trips haha 😅 TIA

@@Notrailrated my intentions are to do an intake similar to yours. I’ve seen ppl take the intake hose from an 06’ Liberty since it connects the airbox and TB directly. Second I wanted to changed my exhaust to the Magnaflow u mentioned. Lastly, changed the TB to that of the 4.7L WK. Any comments on the specific settings I should have when I get the tune? Have u had any problems with the 4.7 TB?

I’m looking at getting a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 232,000 miles on it and it’s looks in great condition inside and out but the GUI said the engine was rebuilt 60,000 miles ago and the trans was replaced with a used one with 165k miles and Transfer case as well, does this Jeep sound reliable and would it last or is this a no go bad deal, he’s wanting $3,000 for it

I have a WK with a 5.7 hemi and idk what to do lol I want to have a off-roader or a simple lift with good tires so it could be an aggressive daily. My question is the abs is out and the e break is a little light to the feel I got it just recently and on the 2nd day the abs went out along with the problem with e break would that be a costly fix?

I would 100% get the hemi instead because the 4.7 is junk and the 3.7 is a gutless engine with slightly better reliability than the 4.7. The 3.7 is has the gas mileage of a hemi with none of the power and the transmission is a hit or miss.

Where are you located in Michigan? I have a 3.7 as well and want to tune it but I don’t have the money to buy the hyper tuner. If you aren’t forever away I could give you some money to use the tuner. I’m also in Michigan. If you don’t want to tell your town a general area or county would be great. Thank you and let me know!

Probably an anomaly but I had an '05 WK with the 3.7 and the timing chain broke at 44K, bending the valves and ruining the engine. Luckily for me, the powertrain warranty was good for another 6,000 miles so it was fixed by the dealer and I traded it in for an '07 Limited with the 5.7. Still have the vehicle and she has 223K on her. Anybody can get a lemon and I think I did but that 3.7 is a little underpowered to be pushing a vehicle of that weight.
