Golen 383 LT1 460 hp/440 ft lb; new T56; Centerforce dual friction clutch; Baer Brakes, coil over suspension, aftermarket control ams, Koni adjustable shocks; Watts linkage, subframe connectors, anniversary 17x9 chrome wheels with sticky 275 Nitto autocross tires, & a lot more. I bought my 1997 Mystic Teal Metallic Z28 in 2003. A one owner car with 56,000 miles. Just reached 100,000 miles on 9/4/23. It runs great and still gets the same mileage as when it was new. One of the first things I replaced were those not so attractive 5-spoke 16 in. wheels with a set of 2000 SS 17 in. 10-spoke take-off wheels from SLP for $400. Currently running on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 275/40 ZR17 tires. I also added tubular lower control arms and panhard bar, larger sway bars, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, cast aluminum diff cover. Still a blast to drive. I've had it up to 125-135 mph a few of times. No tickets so far.

These lt1s are NOT bad motors at all. They have a bad reputation but i thinks thats just because they were misunderstood when they came out and were quickly overshadowed by the LS motor. Back in the day Motor Trend did an Article comparing the 97' Z-28 LT1 to the 98 LS1 both with stock exhaust while the LT1 booms urgently the LS1 played a more delicate tune even though it had more torque, The setup of the LS1 with the aluminum block seemed to absorb more sound and make it a little bit quieter, They also commented on the 93 through 97 Corvette exhaust which is not nearly as throaty as the Z-28 of the same period ,the Vetts were tuned to be much quieter which doesn't make sense to me.

Not bad i had a 96 Rs from 18-20. Then got an 02 Firehawk. Now rollin a 94 Z28. Your driving record will play into your cost, and what type of insurance you go with. I have comp on my Z with 24-7 roadside, and liability on my HHR daily driver.
@chaoslord89184 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend looking into broadform insurance, especially if you own or drive multiple vehicles. Broadform insures the driver, not the vehicle, and even covers you if you're driving someone else's car (as long as you have permission, that is ;)
@justinfbabay4 жыл бұрын
ChaosLord is that I like what they call a bond insurance? Thats what i had from like 18 to 22. Very good deal price wise, but if you have project car thats important to you, thats where it sucks because theres no coverage for it.
@chaoslord89184 жыл бұрын
@@justinfbabay I don't think it's bond insurance, (tho I'm not really sure what bond insurance is. Insurance is super-confusing by design, and I don't really get any of it, honestly). I think we're comparing apples and oranges tho. Broadform (or maybe it's "broad form") isn't the level of coverage like limited liability or comprehensive. It just insures the driver instead of a specific vehicle. I believe you can get full comprehensive coverage with broadform if you so choose. I personally just needed legal coverage, and when I switched from insuring just my Saturn SL to broadform, it only cost about $50 more for 6 months (so like $8/month more), which is a lot cheaper than covering two vehicles separately. The most important thing to remember tho... is to honk when you drive by Vern Fonk.

3:47-3:52 so basically you can just swap in a L31 vortec or a sbc 350 gm creat engine and it bots in no cutting up required?🤔
@CarGuyV811 ай бұрын
You’d have to cut a little bit of the cowl to make a distributor work. With an automatic you’d need a trans controller with a carb setup.
@xx_ironman77_xx111 ай бұрын
@@CarGuyV8 the cowl is the part of metal that the glass is mounted on right?. But from what I have heard the LT1 350 and the L31 share the same design except for the reverse Cooling except for that they share the same intake bolt pattern right ? .the L31 has the stronger 4 bolt main block 🤷🏽♂️

do you have a video of how to change the Berger panel or any to somewhere else

I do not. I’ll have to make one soon. It’s pretty simple

How hard is it to get parts for these cars?
@CarGuyV83 жыл бұрын
Not too bad. Parts stores carry just about everything. The hard part might be finding some interior pieces if anything is broken.

I have the 97 camaro. It has 30th anniversary sitching on the seats, and instead of z28 is says F.1for the logos BUT On the owner ship it says z28 so I'm guessing the f.1 is just a package?
@CarGuyV85 жыл бұрын
All ‘97s have the 30th insignia. The F1 package was a dealer installed package. They’re not very common to find. I cant remember what all it included but I believe some type of body kit, badges, floor mats, and I believe exhaust + a couple other little things. You should make a video of it. I’d like to see it.
@dabunwin4425 жыл бұрын
@@CarGuyV8 its grey with two black racing stripes instead of the ugly orange I have been seeing online lol. It has racing bucket seats all around the floor mats do say f.1. The motor is a v8 allumin block 350 small block. Has 6 speed manual transmission. Everything is factory. I might make a video since I can only find one online

Yeah it’s hard to find much information about them. Sounds like a cool car man.

I have to disagree on the feels like a "rocket ship" i have both a 92 c4 vette and 96 camaro the vette feels more like a fighter jet or rocket ship than the camaro the camaro feels just very roundy and modern

How can you open the rear hatch if the glove box handle is broke 🙋
@justinfbabay4 жыл бұрын
If no key just remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the hatch latch under the trunk carpet. Once you get the bolts out, then you can unlatch it, and then bolt it back up. I ran bout 8ft of speaker wire that i jumped into the hatch release button. So if im by myself and need to open the hatch just touch the wires and lift the hatch up. Just temporary till i get new hatch struts though lol!

Cons? It’s not an LS
@paulmahon16133 жыл бұрын
There is an LT1 out there that holds the street stock quarter mile manual record. It whips LSs on a routine basis.

I have had ls engines in 3 of my cars. I prefer lt1. I do like my ls2 tho. I hate the ls4.

I have fun with my 97. 96-97 had 285hp because of the dual Cats. It's an auto. Mine has a blueprint 4 bolt corvette spec engine with edelbrock lt1 heads and BBK shorty headers. I used to hate autos but after my accident left my left knee weak, now I'm glad I have it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWPKd3aZjbebi6M kzbin.infoA7IHFREMYNc

Can someone help me I want to put my 94 camaro on 22 do I need to get it lift or cut or would it just slide on
@quayl13374 жыл бұрын
Darius Bryant you need a sell it before you ruin a Camaro. Get some wheel spacers and put corvette wheels on it. It’ll preform better and have a good stance, please don’t donk it and destroy the fenders and quarters. It will just look like a kid drew a car and then drew massive circles under it
@UnKlePennybagz4 жыл бұрын
Unless it's the v6 then have your way with her. 22s lifted would look donkish. I wouldn't go 22s on mine(I have corvette rims) but I have seen ppl do it and it look good. Tucked neat and not lifted at all. Gonna cost you tho. Better off with nice Vette rims.
