Just beat the game.. years ago my best friend in elementary school gave his links awakening game to me. I couldn’t beat it cause it was hard and we didn’t know what to do. Things were extra tough back then since we didn’t have KZbin to just look things up. I gave up eventually and moved on to other games. Fast forward to now and I finally got to play this remake. I was more confident now that I’m grown and have years of Zelda experience. Things still got a bit tricky, especially around level 6 face shrine, the very same dungeon I got stuck on as a kid. I plowed through though and finally after all these years beat links awakening. Almost shed a tear as I watched the ending for the first time :’)

So much heartfelt nostalgia from this. Games in the 90's had so much mythos to them. I loved this game so much as a kid and am so glad they remade it. Back in the early 90's there was no internet and very few people to talk to about video games, I thought I was the only one who really liked this one. I am glad now to see that it is loved the world over by both older and new generations.

I grew up in the NES era (I turn 40 next year) and this was the first Zelda game I ever beat. I was 11 and had a copy with my Gameboy DMG. I played it so much it was crazy. At some point I got stuck and in those days there was no internet or anything to look it up, so unless you had some friends that also had the game you were on your own. I eventually beat it, and it was the first long form game I conquered. I remember catching some feels at the end. Even though it isn’t the best Zelda title, it’s in my top 3 because the nostalgia is so heavy and it is a really really good game in its own right. Playing it again last year as a remake was so awesome, this little title really deserved a full on remake, And I’m glad Nintendo showed it the respect it deserves.

Beating this zelda in 5 hours. Well in his defense, those of us who played this when it first came out for game boy could finish this in about the same time. We know where everything is and how to navigate the map fully. Those who haven't played this before, it would take days or weeks. The only big difference is the continuous navigation instead of screen to screen action. I really enjoyed this longplay. I really hope nintendo considers doing a few more zeldas this way like the first one.

This is so moving. Link's Awakening was the first game I ever owned on the Gameboy - my birthday present at 6 years old. I remember all the music and locations so well. A little embarrassed to see how quickly you found the nightmare key in Bottle Grotto as that stumped me for a very long time...
@HisDudeness1986 Жыл бұрын
I remember getting the original as a birthday present, when it was bundled with my gameboy, back in 1994. It must’ve taken me a year to complete back in elementary school. I couldn’t figure out how to get passed the raccoon, then it took me patience to get passed Moldorm after my oldest cousin helped me. Finding the nightmare key in Bottle Grotto was nerve-wracking, as well as finding how from a friend on how to get the stick for Kiki to use for his “monkey business”. I also got assistance on finding the slime key, then letting another friend get thru levels 4 and 5 for me. Afterward, I thought sequence braking the game was a good idea when I got the treasure items in the last three dungeons, before realizing one of the “eyes” in the Face Shrine map was actually a room. I got lost in Eagle Tower before taking time to destroy the pillars, wandering around aimlessly in Turtle Rock, then finally entering the Wind Fish Egg, then realizing I needed to read the damn book in the library. It also took me two days to beat the final boss. While playing thru my initial run, which lasted a year, I inadvertently bomb-jumped a section into getting the Face Shrine key before completing Bottle Grotto, and finding out about the island. I also discovered the screen warp glitch on accident when I warped from the graveyard into the outer walls of Kanelet Castle. Then, I REALLY discovered the screen warp glitch and had a LOT of fun with that. And I even found 20 seashells and got the Lv 2 sword, and found out I could shoot beams with it. I was 9 years old when I first beat Link’s Awakening. I had a lot of help from people and I made it a mission to beat it on my own the second play through! I felt emotionally invested in this game and to this day have fond memories of beating the final boss, walking home from school, then listening to the end credits as i made myself a peanut butter sandwich. The game felt even more immersive when my mom bought me the Super GameBoy and I had the theater outlining the screen. It was as if I was playing a movie, because for me, it was. It was the most epic movie a young boy had the privilege of playing and experiencing. This was my first Zelda game and it will always have a special place in my heart.

So... The thing is that... When Link wakes up, he is stuck at sea on a log... And the people he made friends with disappear... Which is kinda depressing What is even more depressing is that he never gets to hear what Marin wanted to tell him. Moreso , this should be The Wind Fish's Awakening, because all he did was to wake up the fish. Koholint Island could easily be an island in The Wind Waker.
