Iggy and Lemmy in Bowser’s Minions and Bowser Jr.’s Journey don’t really act anything like their Color Splash counterparts. Also I think I kind of liked it better when Morton talked normally in Paper Jam, I like the idea of him being a big brute who’s not as dumb as he looks much more than him being a stereotypical caveman type of character, even though the latter does make a lot of sense for Morton and probably fits him better.

I gotta say, the Ludwig boss battle was my favorite. The end was emotional. Balloons and Tail Whips do jobs perfectly. You also had to get some specific thing cards in order to beat the most powerful attacks/defences ever. By the way Black Shy Guy's weakness is POW Blocks.

It's not the visuals that are the problem, all Paper Mario games are arguably amazing in art design, it's just the combat. Look at each of the Koopaling bosses in this game, each one has one specific Thing card (not Replicas, only Things) that you _NEED_ to use at specifically the right time in order to defeat them, otherwise they are completely invincible. Outside of the boss fights, combat is extremely taxing as you use cards, which all are expendable, some of which need to be painted to use, which is also expendable, in order to fight, and if you overextend with those cards and use more than is necessary, those extra cards are not refunded. This means that there can legitimately be fights where you are incapable of attacking the opponent because you ran out of paint or cards to fight with. One last cherry on top is that you cannot select your targets during combat, you will always have to defeat the opponent in the front before moving onto the next. The Dino Rhino minibosses are an example of how this system isn't good, their mechanic is that they will become enraged if their Shy Guy Trainer is defeated, the problem is though that the Trainer will always be standing in front of the Dino Rhinos, meaning you will always have to fight them when they are enraged.

You need the fire extinguisher to defeat Morton or else you won’t be able to attack him and you’ll get a Game Over once he drains all your health. And it’s worth noting that it’s also an automatic loss if you use replicas. Iggy can only be defeated by the bone and if it’s not used he and his minions will use their chariots to dodge your attacks. Ludwig requires the balloons thing to lift his submarine out of the water for you to attack him. Larry requires the cork thing to clog up the funnel, otherwise the smoke will make all your attacks fail and will also heal Larry. Wendy requires the instant camera or else she will lock you with her giant ring. Lemmy requires two things- the disco ball and the ice pick. The disco ball prevents him from dodging your attacks and if you don’t use the disco ball first he will dodge the ice pick, which you need to pop his ball so you can attack him without getting hurt. Finally, Roy requires the washing machine thing to clear away the black paint or else Mario will get hurt touching it and won’t be able to attack Roy

Its not great to play believe me i putt myself through the pain the story was meh the visuals were gorgeous the comedy was hilarious but the combat was absolute hot garbage it kinda ruined the game for me

If Origami King has as much personality and funny dialogue like this one did, that alone will carry the next game for me, hell, this is also coupled with honestly really catchy music on top, I enjoyed Color Splash enough on that alone, it was fun. I'm not TOO nervous for the future next release, so let us see what happens.

As much as I do enjoy Paper Mario: Color Splash, and find it vastly superior over its 3DS predecessor, I do feel there are a few things about it that makes it just shy of being an amazing game. The biggest offender by far is Kamek. As soon as he appears in the game he'll randomly appear whenever you encounter a normal battle, and then mess with your cards by either flipping them over so you can't see what to use until you've chosen it, remove all but 6 of your cards, or replace them with just a single copy of cards like all Worn-Out Jumps, etc. What makes this even more frustrating is that Kamek disables the "Run" button so you really have no other option but to TRY, and win the battle which is just asinine! All it does is that it can lead to potential unwinnable fights, and possibly frequent game overs especially if you don't know what to do! You either have 1, or the other, not BOTH! At worst, they could've just had him disable the "Run" button, and nothing more, but, of course, that wasn't good enough... And the worst part is that you'd THINK after defeating Kamek he'll leave you alone throughout the rest of the game, right? After all, he does explode into paint refills, but, NOPE, he NEVER goes away...! Once he 1st shows up he's there forever... At least things go back to normal once a battle has won, but that still doesn't make it any less annoying. There's no way the Kamek encounter was play-tested. It's by far the worst part of the game.Thankfully, in my opinion, the better story, writing, and characters more than make up for it. If it wasn't for this, and several other issues in Color Splash, I'd probably rank it higher as one of my personal favorite Wii U games, but, as is, it's pretty low on the list. Hopefully, Origami King will fix these issues! Sorry for my ridiculously long rant...

Well... I think they add Kamek for to make his appeareance a little bit more often, so making it a little bit difficult, as because in Sticker Star he just appeared three times (for battleling), were he used the same mehcanic; transform all your cards into flip-flop (I hope I spelled it correctly), and even you still had the escape/run. So probably the main reason was to don´t make Kamek so acusual for then don´t be prepared as much it was in the prequel, and add a little bit of difficult to the game during those moments.

Alright I'm going to say it ..... Color splash is in my opinion better than TTYD Now before you all murder me let me explain. Firstly the character: Many people complain about there only be Toads in the game. That is one of the few points I can agree with and even then they all have distinct personality and are fun to listen to. Secondly The battle system : I actually think the battle system is better in this game because In TTYD most of the time you just spam jump or hammer on your enemy without second thoughts but here you actually have to think! "Should I use this card?" "Maybe I shouldn't because maybe the enemy will die from the previous attack and I do not want to waste this card." "Should I use a good card on this enemy or save them for later?" You see what I mean? It's way more strategic and the fact that you can't choose your target adds to that strategy. And if you're out of cards just grind like any RPG ever. It's really easy to farm cards. Third The Boss Battles : I don't really have a problem with the Koopalings since this is their debut in the Paper series. And honestly I don't think it's really hard to know what to do most of the times you can explore (like you should do in a RPG) and find multiple hints before the battle (Maybe except Roy but even then it's pretty obvious you have to use a washing machine) Now for anything else this game is really good. The story isn't as good as TTYD (obviously) but it's still pretty solid considering it's more about the black paint than it is about Bowser and Peach. The soundtrack is just awesome and so are the graphics. So this is my opinion about Color Splash if you disagree pls don't kill me.

The Ludwig fight was always my favorite, just because of how creative it was. You had to exploit a certain gimmick in order to win (reflecting the cannonballs), versus some of the other bosses where you would just whale on them until you needed a Thing card or they just died. Wendy is a nice one too because of the rhythm thing. The music for both all of the bosses just SLAPS as well.
