I like what they did with Koopa Troopa Beach in Mario Kart 7. The visuals are enhanced but more cartoony, the ramp to the shortcut is less aggravating to drive into but still tricky to pull off, and the ramp that leads to a boulder and only hinders the player from driving onto it now has a point, since you can now use it as a glider ramp to snatch a coin or two.
