What an accurate, and sad, analogy to what has happened to The Gospel. Voddie's analogy paints a clear picture of what has happened in our churches. Most sermons are "milk," even so, some of it is soured because of man's intervention by his own thoughts, disregarding what the Scriptures actually say.

I reckon God's understanding is very much appreciated and understood. What has crept in, however, and is now much more emphasised is man's understanding of prosperity. Please pride yourself not in your efforts about Bible reading. Every verse you quoted is futile, if not read in its proper context. May I suggest you take up that challange; read a section of the chapter, or the chapter in its entirety or even the whole book to get proper context; not just picking verses to inform your thesis or evident a the lack of Bible knowledge, which by the is even not helpful if not practiced faithfully and truthfully. I'll give an example: Phillipians 4:19, if read in it's proper context, Paul is saying his prosperity, his wealth, his richness is in contentment. So whether he had or had not, he was prosperous. Clearly, most pulpits do not render that understanding to their sheep.

From what I have read and heard from people that were being fed false gospel "slushies" is that when they heard the REAL Gospel of Christ it made them want more of the Truth and that it satisfied a "hunger" and "craving" that the "false gospel" slushies couldn't provide. That was my personal experience when I was in a WOF/Prosperity church back in the mid 80's.

Thank you for posting this very needful presentation and when I think of the way so many are currently falling for this terribly deceptive doctrine that's being taught by such men as Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland and TD Jakes, one particular passage that often comes to me is 2 Timothy 4:3-4, where we're warned by the apostle Paul that the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts they will raise up for themselves teachers, having itching ears and they will turn their ears away from the Truth and will turn to fables. Also, in the first two verses of 2 Peter 2, the apostle Peter declares that false prophets rose up among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them and bringing swift destruction on themselves and many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the Way of Truth will be blasphemed.

How do you repent for NOT doing that which you were NOT permitted to NOT do? You have God making you sin, and later you have God repenting of the sins he made you do to himself. If the Calvinists are right we don't need prisons. After all God forced the criminal to commit the crime. A monster in disguise can always be exposed by looking at their lives. Especially if they publish books! Hitler should have been seen by sane people because he published his intentions in a book. I can't tell if you're trolling or being serious. I can't imagine you being serious about someone using an analogy to help explain the message of what's going on in the world. It'd be weird to think people can't give an analogy on the state of the world, give a testimony, pray for someone without reusing a prayer exactly from the bible, or read the bible, since all of those things aren't exactly scripture text. Bottom line is, there is nothing wrong with his analogy and it does not equate to him not preaching the gospel. Additionally, from this clip one could continue a sermon preaching the gospel or reference scripture because of numerous passages about the last days.

Thank you. I am also discipling/overseeing kids and families in a relatively destitute country. To me, preaching against prosperity gospel from the comforts of the realized American dream just feels superficial. When you are building relationship with the communities and the kids, you cannot dismiss the fact that they need to get out of poverty -- not being filthy rich but allowing them to realize their potentials and dreams -- like being engineers, accountants, teachers, etc. You cannot just go on preaching to them Romans while they are not fed. My income could not feed them and I knew personally that they need to get out of the poverty/oppressed mindset. This i believe is waht the American gospel fails to understand about the "third world countries" as the globalists would label ours. I just wish that instead of this glorified attacks against prosperity gospel, we Christians who claim to have a more intimate knowledge of the Scripture would have also traced with compassionate hearts of the root cause for this misleading teaching and how the true gospel should be the guide and be the goal as we journey with them towards the realization of their potential.

The teaching of salvation, long ago, became called the gospel. It is not. Matthew 24:14 Mark 1:14-15 Acts 28:31 The gospel, can ONLY be according to Christ, not about Christ.

Careful . . there is a balance. The POVERTY gospel is no holier than the so-called PROSPERITY gospel.
