So God's will in the OT was prosperity, and the streets of heaven are paved with gold, but in the New Covenant we're not provided anything except for eternal life? Even though our covenant is better than the old one? (Heb. 8:6) God doesn't change. If His will in the old covenant was prosperity there's no reason to conclude that prosperity isn't His will in the new. Psalm 1 says that the man who finds his delight in the law of the Lord will prosper in whatever he does. Does Psalm 1 still apply? What about all of the verses in Proverbs that say riches and honor come with wisdom? Is Proverbs obsolete? And for the record, the context of 2 Corinthians 8 was money.

Brothers and sisters, I believe in tithing. I believe in giving. I believe in the law of sowing and reaping. These are all revelations not understood by carnal men, but only discerned by men of the Spirit. The truth about the matter is this: • Tithing is not a mosaic law, it's a deep revelation. Abraham gave tithes long before Moses was born. Giving offerings is also not a mosaic law but a revelation. • Sowing seeds is not unscriptural, as the critics say. The Bible is full of stories of people who sowed in cash or kind and reaped great harvests. Even the scriptures say it is God who gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater (Isaiah 55:10). Whatever a man sows, he shall reap (Galatians 6:7). As long as the Earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease (Genesis 8:22). • God is also interested in our prosperity. It is God who gives us power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). God also wants us to prosper and be in health, just as our souls prosper (3rd John 1:2). Let us read our Bibles and stop criticizing what God endorses. Before claiming that something is wrong, lets read oir Bibles so we dont make mockery of Christianity. As for me, I understand this principle. It has worked for me countless times. That's why we shouldn't listen to these satanic critics who aren't born again. The critics can continue to criticize, and many will be led astray, but not you. Why will you base your convictions on financial prosperity over a video you watched on KZbin produced by someone who might not even be born again or honours God with their lives? Many of us criticize this topic of prosperity because of what we have read or watched online, without searching the scriptures to know what the Bible says concerning it. Most of us are gullible, foolish and easily bewitched by these agents of Satan in the form of bloggers. Be wise and stop believing Satan's cheap lies hoarded by his agents. Let me ask you: Why do we criticize ministers of God who are wealthy? Why do we shout as if they don't deserve to own anything at all? When has it become a crime for ministers to wear good clothes, live in good houses and drive good cars? Is it a sin for a minister to run a megachurch or enjoy their lives? You can already see witchcraft in the statements of these critics. It is only a witch that will desire another person to live a poor and wretched life. And how would you just assume that the preacher makes money from the desperation of his or her poor church members? That statement alone is an insult to the body of Christ worldwide. How dare you say that we Christians are poor? Is it only poor people that attend church? Is it only miserable people that give tithes ans offerings? Don't you see well-to-do people in church meetings? These critics are openly insulting the body of Christ and we are accepting the insults they hurl on us because we are gullible and foolish, right? Lets grow up and end this madness. May God give us understanding, in Jesus name. Amen. Yours in Christ, Evangelist Global

Undoubtedly, the Old Testament contains many requirements that no longer apply to us today. However, it is important to note that the Bible explicitly states that Jesus delivered us from the curses of the law, not the blessings. And although God never promised millions that's at his own discretion but the fact is through the mouth of the Apostle Paul, God promises in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that His grace will abound toward us, providing us with all sufficiency in all things so that we may abound to every good work. These verses are not merely speaking of spiritual realities or blessings, but also of real money, as Paul makes clear in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. He points to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, despite being rich, became poor for our sakes so that we might be made rich through His poverty. It is essential to recognize that these passages are addressing tangible financial matters and not just spiritual blessings.

I don't think it makes sense to say that Jesus was rich financially and then became poor. That sounds more like he's talking about his glory and station. Essentially, he humbled himself and bacame a lowly human. Thanks to that, we are rich in blessings.

@@captanblue he also tells us to give and it shall be given unto us, you're spiritualising what doesn't support your doctrine, common error, context is simple Paul didn't use those words in a bid to explain a spiritual blessing. Jesus said your Father knows you need these things but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and ALL these things emphasis on the "ALL" shall be added unto you. Although everything from God to us is Spiritual they usually have physical implications.

There's a BIG reason why preachers don't accept or preach the prosperity gospel. It's because they have no idea what poverty is, or what it means to be poor. They think the prosperity gospel is a way of God adding more money to Christians that is already rich. I'm not going to say more because I doubt if anyone is even reading this. But when you know what suffering is, and what it means to live in constant want, with no hope, you'll understand why there's a need for a prosperity gospel. Until then, you'll always think it's a way of God spoiling the rich with more riches. No, it's not! It's simply God taking up his Fatherly responsibility. It's also God putting an end to the work of sin. Poverty came from sin. Poverty is not, not being able to buy a Ferrari. Poverty mean not having the basic human needs, and not being able to give it to others too. And there are billions of people living in poverty, and in need of help. That's where Jesus comes in with the prosperity gospel.

I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawn in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and ill-treated - the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect." they give their own names to their estates. But people, even rich ones, will live only briefly;
then, like animals, they will die. This is the manner of life of the foolish

Frank, brother, I think you are amazing at bring out certain biblical narratives, but it seems that your take on eternal security and this subject is skewed somehow. Sure, people like Robert Tilton that taught prosperity did it, very obviously, to benefit themselves. That doesn't change the scripture. If the entire bible isn't for me then none of it is. Including and especially the Old Testament, Jesus did away with the law and the following of it has past, but I've heard you declare over and over Old Testament scriptures on morality and that the scripture is still applicable. Why not the parts on God wanting to prosper His people? The New Testament amplifies God's Old Testament intent, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers" 3 John 1:2. Sure, God wants our soul to prosper and it needs to for us to handle large amounts of money. God emphasized to us not to love or chase after money. But, His desire to bless and prosper is a promise today. I am a pastor of 42 years. About 25 years ago, God told me while driving down a country road close to town that I would have millions of dollars. At that time I was raising four children and starting a church in a small town. I was tested in my giving, my faith and my love of money. I was unknowingly put in a very rich person's trust that I worked for years ago and 3 years ago that person passed, leaving me a multi millionaire. I now travel and preach in smaller churches where I do not have to have an offering. I have given more money to the church I started than I ever got paid. How is that bad? I Google searched Dr. Frank Turek and it shows a net worth of between $5-8 million dollars. Seriously brother??? And the New Testament has no provision for being wealthy??? There are a lot of people that teach prosperity and giving to feed themselves and use the bible wrongly, but, it doesn't change scripture that clearly shows God prospering people and using wealthy people for His kingdom purposes.

@@theelectriciansapp7802 I apologize because of the way this is going to sound but your statement is shallow, massively immature and far from what I said. I never said or implied what you said. I never said God would make everyone a millionaire if they give to or follow Him. My point was, there is a myth in christian circles today that wealth is evil and anyone with wealth is bad, especially if it's a pastor. Show me scriptures where it's unGodly. Sure, it's dangerous if you are not prepared to handle it. That's why the bible warns us of what money and wealth does. With that said, many fall into the money trap that these scriptures are talking about and have very little money. So, these do not just apply to the wealthy. You are wrong in one thing. God is every christian's personal bank. "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:19, plus many other scriptures telling us that our Father will provide for us. If christians would get it in their head that their job is not their source, it's their training ground and God is their source, they'd do themselves a great service.

Every time I see him he gives me money and does things for me.. it feels like he is trying to bribe God in a sense because he wants to buy 20 acres in a remote part of Montana or Florida. It reminds me of myself when I was in the same state of thinking for that year. God will always provide for his children. hmm, I agree with you that money is a blessing and the love of money is evil. But I gotta disagree with the context of 2 Corinthians 5:9: Even in this video Frank says "He became poor so we might become rich" is really solely talking about spiritual richness, it's referring to the treasure we now have spiritually. Chapters 8 and 9 is about finances but it's basically telling us to prioritize how to love our neighbors with our earthly possessions, the opposite of prioritizing money for ourselves. I believe the purpose of earthly blessings is to see more of God's grace and we will naturally grow in love for Him. Those chapters are really pushing that's it's all about God, the well-being of others and to prioritize the spiritual because that is true treasure.

1 Corinthians 16 1-4 "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: 2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 3 And when I come, whomever you approve by your letters I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem. 4 But if it is fitting that I go also, they will go with me." What does that have to do with prosperity? Paul was encouraging Corinthians to give towards the needs of persecuted believers in Jerusalem as he had done on other occasions.

1 Timothy 6 1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

The problem here is that his throwing the baby out with the bathwater, whilst it is true that what we call the "prosperity gospel" has perversions, prosperity(not just financial prosperity) is clearly part of the new testament, however that isn't to say every Christian is to be rich, we also have examples of wealthy believers in the new testament such as Barnabas, Philemon the Bishop, Lydia, cornelius etc, etc.

When it comes to prosperity, I believe that God does choose to bless some with financial riches, but he does it for specific reasons. Number 1 is to those that he can trust to use the wealth to further the kingdom and to help those who can not afford to help themselves (maybe because if they were financially blessed they would not serve the Lord).

@Susan, that is not true. The OT covenant is no longer binding on Christians today... UNLESS it is repeated in the NT. That is why, for example, the 10 Commandments still apply today. Every one of them is repeated in the NT, except for the 3rd (Remember the Sabbath day). God did away with some things, such as the ceremonial law and the prohibition on association with Gentiles, but some things he retained as binding and re-emphasized in a new way. Please study both the OT and NT to understand the concept of the old and new covenant.

I watched a guy from Frisco TX yesterday open up his Bible, he misconstrued, read out of context and led scripture to fit what he was trying to push on his audience. I went to this prosperity preachers page, but the comments were disabled! It's real simple, GOD did not send Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so that this would be our best life. Our best life is in Heaven. The Pastor told his audience that the reason Frisco and the surrounding communities were listed in Forbes as the most prosperous in the nation was bc of his church. So if he's going to take the good and say it's bc of his church, will he also accept the bad that happened in that area, bc his church didn't reach out enough!??? Stop giving to these "car salesman" who preach a distorted gospel! Dominion, Gain, Wealth is not spoken of in present tense. Jesus told us all, the world will hate us for following him. Store up for yourselves riches in heaven, not on this earth! Our best life is not now!

I’m just trying to understand and get to the truth about what he’s saying: So he’s saying certain things in the Old Testament may apply to us as 21st century Christians and certain things do not? I feel that either all of it applies or none of it applies. I understand his argument that Jeremiah 29:11 is speaking to the Hebrews in Babylon while they were under great oppression. And that we should understand the character of God when we read that but God is the same God in the OT and NT, yes the OT is under law and the NT is under grace but does that mean the meaning changes because it is a different time? I would like to hear other people’s opinions on this Thanks

Prosperity Gospel people please consider, parable of Lazarus and rich man. Rich young ruler. Store your treasures in heaven and not earth for where your treasure is, your heart is also. The poor was and deaths of all the apostles in poverty. God is eternally consistent and all that Jesus taught has to be consistent with all of God. Jesus over and over taught that your wealth is in Heaven, and the riches of heaven is not gold but Souls. We are called to shepards of men. Called to dedicate all we have to bringing people the good news, not to store our wealth where rust and decay turn all to dust.

Rich man verses poor man Psalm 33 18 But Adonai’s eyes watch over those who fear him,
over those who wait for his grace 19 to rescue them from death
and keep them alive in famine. Psalm 34:9 (8) Taste, and see that Adonai is good.
How blessed are those who take refuge in him! 10 (9) Fear Adonai, you holy ones of his,
for those who fear him lack nothing. 11 (10) Young lions can be needy, they can go hungry,
but those who seek Adonai lack nothing good. Psalm 14:6 You may mock the plans of the poor,
but their refuge is Adonai. Psalm 115:11 “You who fear Adonai, trust in Adonai!
He is their help and shield.” Psalm 68:11 “…in your goodness, God, you provided for the poor”. Psalm 109 30 “I will eagerly thank Adonai with my mouth, I will praise him right there in the crowd, 31 because he stands alongside a needy person to defend him from unjust accusers.” Psalm 49 17 (16) Don’t be afraid when someone gets rich, when the wealth of his family grows. 18 (17) For when he dies, he won’t take it with him; his wealth will not go down after him. 19 (18) True, while he lived, he thought himself happy - people praise you when you do well for yourself - 20 (19) but he will join his ancestors’ generations and never again see light. 21 (20) People, even rich ones, can fail to grasp that, like animals, they will die. Psalm 41 1 How blessed are those who care for the poor! When calamity comes, Adonai will save them. 3 (2) Adonai will preserve them, keep them alive, and make them happy in the land. You will not hand them over to the whims of their enemies. 4 (3) Adonai sustains them on their sickbed; when they lie ill, you make them recover. Proverbs 13:8 The rich man may have to ransom his life,
 but a poor man gets no threats. Proverbs 15:16 Better little with the fear of Adonai
 than great wealth coupled with worry. 17 Better a vegetable dinner with love
 than a stall-fattened ox with hate. Proverbs 16 How much better than gold it is to gain wisdom!
 Yes, rather than money, choose to gain understanding. Proverbs 19 Better to be humble among the poor
 than share the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 17:5 He who mocks the poor insults his maker;
 he who rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished. Proverbs 20:15 A person may have gold and a wealth of pearls,
 but lips informed by knowledge are a precious jewel. Psalm 37:16 Better the little that the righteous has
than the wealth of all the wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked will be broken,
but Adonai upholds the righteous. 18 Adonai knows what the wholehearted suffer,
but their inheritance lasts forever. 19 They will not be distressed when times are hard;
when famine comes, they will have plenty. Psalm 5:12 (11) But let all who take refuge in you rejoice,
let them forever shout for joy!
Shelter them; and they will be glad,
those who love your name. 13 (12) For you, Adonai, bless the righteous;
you surround them with favor like a shield. Luke 1:51 “He has performed mighty deeds with his arm,
 routed the secretly proud, 52 brought down rulers from their thrones,
 raised up the humble, 53 filled the hungry with good things,
 but sent the rich away empty. Psalm 34:7 (6) This poor man cried; Adonai heard
and saved him from all his troubles. 8 (7) The angel of Adonai, who encamps
around those who fear him, delivers them. Psalm 52 (7) “This fellow would not make God his refuge,
but trusted in his own great wealth,…” James 1 9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation-since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. Proverbs 16:19 Better to be humble among the poor
 than share the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 18:10 The name of Adonai is a strong tower;
 a righteous person runs to it and is raised high [above danger]. 11 The wealth of the rich is his fortified city,
 like a high wall, in his own imagination. Psalm 39:7 (6) Humans go about like shadows;
their turmoil is all for nothing.
They accumulate wealth, not knowing
who will enjoy its benefits. Psalm 49:2 “Hear this, all you peoples!
Listen, everyone living on earth, regardless of whether low or high,
regardless of whether rich or poor! Verse 6 “Why should I fear when the days bring trouble,
when the evil of my pursuers surrounds me, the evil of those who rely on their wealth
and boast how rich they are? No one can ever redeem his brother
or give God a ransom for him , because the price for him is too high
(leave the idea completely alone!) to have him live on eternally
and never see the pit. For he can see that wise men will die,
likewise the fool and the brute will perish
and leave their wealth to others. They think their homes will last forever,
their dwellings through all generations;
they give their own names to their estates. But people, even rich ones, will live only briefly;
then, like animals, they will die. This is the manner of life of the foolish
and those who come after, approving their words. Like sheep, they are destined for hell;
death will be their shepherd.
The upright will rule them in the morning;
and their forms will waste away in hell;
until they need no dwelling.” Psalm 52:8 The righteous will see and be awestruck;
they will jeer at him, saying, 9 (7) “This fellow would not make God his refuge,
but trusted in his own great wealth…” Psalm 113 He raises the poor from the dust,
lifts the needy from the rubbish heap, 8 in order to give him a place among princes,
among the princes of his people. Luke 1:51 “He has performed mighty deeds with his arm,
 routed the secretly proud, 52 brought down rulers from their thrones,
 raised up the humble, 53 filled the hungry with good things,
 but sent the rich away empty. Ps. 39 Yes, everyone, no matter how firmly he stands,
is merely a puff of wind. (Selah) 7 (6) Humans go about like shadows;
their turmoil is all for nothing.
They accumulate wealth, not knowing
who will enjoy its benefits. Psalm 72:12 For The Lord will rescue the needy when they cry,
the poor too and those with none to help them. 13 He will have pity on the poor and needy;
and the lives of the needy he will save. 14 He will redeem them from oppression and violence;
their blood will be precious in his view. Psalm 73:25 Whom do I have in heaven but you?
And with you, I lack nothing on earth. 26 My mind and body may fail; but God
is the rock for my mind and my portion forever. James 5 5 Next, a word for the rich: weep and wail over the hardships coming upon you! 2 Your riches have rotted, and your clothes have become moth-eaten; 3 your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat up your flesh like fire! This is the Last Days, and you have been storing up wealth! James 5 5 “You have led a life of luxury and self-indulgence here on earth - in a time of slaughter, you have gone on eating to your heart’s content.” 1 Timothy 6 7 For we have brought nothing into the world; and we can take nothing out of it; 8 so if we have food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these. 9 Furthermore, those whose goal is to be rich fall into temptation; they get trapped in many foolish and hurtful ambitions which plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all the evils; because of this craving, some people have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves to the heart with many pains. Psalm 113:7 He raises the poor from the dust,
lifts the needy from the rubbish heap, 8 in order to give him a place among princes,
among the princes of his people.

If the verses in the Old Testament that are not directly addressed to us, (as he shared about Jeremiah 29:11) do not pertain to us, then most of the verses in the Old and New Testament do not pertain to us. Most are spoken to different people. Do you think we should just throw them out like Andy Stanley believes? I do not! The principles are still valid and relevant and do pertain to us today. 🤔

HOW CAN WE MIX COVENANTS IF ABRAHAM IS THE FATHER OF FAITH MOVEMENT ACCORDING TO HEBREWS. Scripture also states that the stories in the old testament are for our example. Furthermore, he says, the blessings of Abraham have come upon the Gentiles. The more you hate the prosperity gospel the more you despise scripture promises like in the house of the righteous there are wealth and treasures. If only John did not say, I wish that you prosper, and be in good health, even as your soul prospers. Is it money or the love of money that is the root of all evil? Love not the world or the things in the world, what things, like cars, jewels, name brand clothing, etc yet how many of you who have two jackets or two pairs of shoes would give your brother or your sister one pair? Rightly Jesus said, if you going to judge the speck in your brother's eye, first remove the log out of your own eyes.

God will provide you money, especially since it is a commandment to be self-sufficient. He will give you a purpose and a calling that you can live off of and serve him if you are patiently waiting on Jesus. It’s not going to happen over night though, and you will always seek Jesus first and those things will be added to you. “for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬ But should we strive to be extremely rich financially? No. Is it ok to be rich? Only if God wants us to be, and it serves his purpose.

I am worried about how the responder is interpreting text. That is selective reading of the text inorder to find a perfect response. Wealth, health and prosperity (spiritual and material) is a fragment in a vast ocean of salvific benefits. You cannot define the borders of God's grace like the OT folk used to do with regards to the terms of the law.
