I suggest treating your coat if it's a goretex type material with Revive-X. It's gonna make water pearl on it and the coat won't be soaked. And thx for the tips.

I attach an umblella to the tripod via a clamp (or hand hold). Now, after seeing the heavy pour in the video, I am thinking of covering the umblella with a poncho. : )

Poncho, great idea! I had footage of using an umbrella that I was going to add but the focus was off and a few other things so I left it out but an umbrella is a very good tool to use! Thank you for sharing.

I just cut a hole in a garbage bag and attach it to both the lens hood and the Z8 Body with rubber bands. 🤷‍♂ Certainly more flimsy, but basically costs nothing and works flawlessly.

Great video, as usual! Nice to make an appearance in it! I've been recently getting better at finding owls. I know I have a barred living in my area, and I've recently heard what I think is a great horned in my neighbourhood but I have yet to find it. Do you most often look for owls midday or at dawn/dusk when they're most active?

Thank you Laura! I find it's best to find owls at dusk. typically they are waking up an more active and the birds in the evening put out a warning call when they see them moving around. Usually a robin that gives them away for me. Barred owls like old growth woods and it is a bonus if there is a creek running nearby. I've seem them wash in the creek, hunt cray fish and rats in and next to the creek as well as other birds taking a drink. I hope that helps!
