This was a quick video I put together to show how we can protect condenser coils. These coating can extend the life and protect the condensers from salt and other corrosives that would otherwise corrode the coil. The coating I used in this video was Viper Coil Coating there will be a link below

I lived in Huntington Beach a few years back, and I was about 4 miles from the ocean. Sometimes the salty air would reach that far, often times at night I could smell bonfire smoke and the smell of seaweed. I really do miss that cool ocean breeze, but I don’t miss the high cost of living there!

We use to put a heresite coating on unit coils that we installed around the gulf coast. We also use it on commercial equipment we installed in certain factories, paper mills and in areas that were prone to corrosion due to manufacturing chemicals. I saw this coating today at the parts house. Not sure how efficient it would be on an older unit.

It would be interesting to have one coil coated and one uncoated on the same rooftop. I'm sure this stuff does some protection but it's hard to believe that aerosol can can coat the fins all the way. Great video as always, cheers for Canada!

That was a very thorough job you did. Start to finish. Looks very professional with a very nice install. Great job. I’m just curious the long run on how the product holds up. Since I was posting KZbin videos a while ago, I have moved from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania down to Florida so it’s a total different environment with humidity, bugs along with salty air so I am re-learning some of the industry down here at this time. Have a great day once again nice job.

@@HVACRVIDEOS Would be very interesting, but be careful, because the last time I tried to do that in an enclosed area like a walkin box, the manufacturer of the chemical(Diversitech) said that it is hazardous and flammable and not recommended for indoor use because a room filled with this in the air and a small spark can create an explosion. I chickened out and told them to replace the evaporator. Evaporator was already deteriorated and spitting a powdered material every where.

Had lunch with an HVAC friend of mine yesterday, he started complaining about these micro channel coils which are becoming more common and much more maintenance demanding, hang on I thought, I know what he's talking about. We live in Adelaide, South Australia a city exposed to dusty and pollen laden strong desert North winds, conveniently sited along the coast of the Southern ocean. You have to wonder if a machine that can't clear it's own condenser of heavy rainfall without eventually faulting is really a good design. I guess that's progress, in laboratory tests micro channel probably works more efficiently, in the real world with real dust, real rain and salt hmmmmm.
@gavincarstens6497

Have used another product it was like $30 a can on some LG unit we installed have a video of it up last year my son was cleaning four 60,000 BTU LG heat pumps in spraying on the protectant to extend their life. Have a problem with the bay salt air and a body shop paint booth exhaust admitting paint dust that clogs up the condenser.
