Protecting the tank heater connections from the elements on our Elddis CV20 Campervan

What a good idea! We’ve sprayed ours with silicone, but liking your more permanent fix. That sticky silver tape can be a nightmare. Nice job. You are a perfectionist!👍 🧙‍♂️

Thank you 😀 The plastic boxes were really cheap, I had one already but had to get the other one. That reminds me - must finish off the silver tape too (which will get stuck everywhere again and not like being peeled 😂) All the best, David & Rachel 👍

Costcutting van build and if they had only put some heat shrink when manufacturing the vans it would have helped this vulnerable spot... Found the same rating heating elements with long glue sealed cable connections when I did mine but never bothered getting them and can not find them on the internet again. Nice one again David.

Thank you - sounds like a much better designed element if it has glue sealed cables to keep moisture and salt etc out. It’s a nightmare when you find something then you look again in the future and it’s not there isn’t it - all the best, David 👍

David, really like the new intro and as always, great presentation. I'm a little less clinical as you, when my van turns up I will silicon grease the connectors and then put shrink wrap over the top all in time to avoid rust, assuming they come rust free from the factory :)

Thank you 👍 I was really surprised how much rust had gathered in a short period of time, I do think there was some on originally but the salt on the road in January and February made it significantly worse. I was going to put heat shrink tubing on but was worried with it being an element that it may heat up the connections beyond the shrink temperature hence the box. Whatever works best for you - great one to pop some grease on when you get it to stop more effort later 👍 all the best, David 👍

Hi David. Sorry this is a late post but I've only just found your channel. Instead of using WD40, you could try some Holt's Damp Start. It puts a fine plastic coating over the terminals once connected. I've used it in the past and it seemed to work

Thanks for the tip - I once used Damp Start back in the 90s on the screws of a rear lamp to try and stop them rusting and it melted the plastic and the light fell off 😀 Good suggestion to keep the rust away. Thanks very much, All the best, David 👍

Anybody know why the waste tank has less wires? Maybe only the fresh tank has a stat? and only heater in the waste (but gets its temp reading from the fresh? ) That cant right though, surely...

Good Afternoon - Do you mean on the fresh there’s 2 wires to each of the tank heaters and on waste just one connecting to the connections? All the best, David 👍

@@LeisureBit On mine I have: Fresh Tank: 2x Red & Blue wires & 2x White wires Waste: 1x Red & Blue & 1 White. I assume red & blue is 12v and white neg/ground I wonder why the fresh has more wires... More water? Bigger heater? Who knows... :)

I think they are connected together so one of the red and blue on the fresh goes to the power switch (and then to the power) and the white goes to the negative connection. The other then go on to connect to the waste heater. Same as mine 👍
