I had this exact engine NPR, bought it at a hobby shop here in indiana back in like 2005 it was marked down and a good deal at the time. I had it on a simple layout in my garage and one of my kids knocked it off on the floor and it demolished it. just pitched it, no way i was going to be able to fix it, was the nicest loco i ever owned.

Great video, creepy. I've got this same loco. I was going to have the decoder and sound installation done professionally, but your video makes me think I might be able to do it myself. The TCS instructions are very good.

Thank you for you kind comment. yes TCS has certainly made the decoder fitting a lot easier, good luck if you go ahead with the install. Gary

They are a very nice engine. I got 2 of them as well. Mine have the earlier Tsunami sound decoders in them. I may change them out at a later date. I need to clean out the lights/ lenses on them, as who weathered the loco's I have over weather the lenses.

Nice subtle weathering! Have one, it does run very nicely, very slowly. Mine has DCC but needs a keepalive to run on my layout-just bought a soundtraxx currentkeeper to deal with that. Nerd Alert, every steam engine needs an Elesco feedwater heater on the smokebox-Central Vermont had some average-size 0-8-0s with them, they look awesome. NYC and subsidiaries had some too, but much larger-modeled by Rivarossi. Way too big to represent a typical 0-8-0. Going to look up that Rolling Road mechanism, that looks extremely useful!

Thank you Patrick for the kind words, yes they are a great loco, since I purchased this loco I have been looking for another, very hard to find. The keep alive makes a lot of difference, one of my better runners. Cheers Gary.

I am working to install a Blunami + CurrentKeeper in one of these Proto 0-8-0s and that tender does NOT have a lot of room. I don't see how I can get it all in there using the factory provided 8 pin connector. I think a rewire is in order.

Did you have to do anything to the front headlight?
@creepy0132 жыл бұрын
No I left the factory light in, but you can upgrade to a brighter led.

I am having issues with this kit. I have the same loco as you and have installed this kit using these instructions. When i go to run the loco it shorts my system. The weird this is that it worked for 5 min and now it won't run at all without shorting. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?
@creepy0132 жыл бұрын
The only thing I can think of is one of the wheel pick ups is shorting out your system, I didn't believe it will be the decoder, sorry I,m not much help. Cheers, Gary.

An HO train mechanic with many years experience told me never take the boiler off you'll never get it back on
