Yeah, Kastaplast’s glow has experienced some setbacks. I noticed this around the same time they joined House of Discs. Which is interesting because after that amalgamation, Trilogy released Moonshine 2.0. I bought a SSD stamped Trespass recently and wondered if it was 1.0 or 2.0. When playing at the local glow leagues most people throw MVP and associated discs. Last night was the first time I watched someone w a Gecko. Finally, if anyone that reads this has access to a Moonshine Warship, I’d gladly take it off of your hands. Great content.

MVP glow is wild. I have a prototype glow envy that got muddy when I was travelling for a tournament. Cleaned it and let it dry in the hotel bathroom overnight and ended up getting up in the night to use the bathroom and it was still glowing 4 hours later.

Yup, the duration that they still emit light is outstanding. Sometimes the best way to find one buried in some leaves, is shine a good UV in a sweeping motion. And turn off all lights.
@benharrison581616 сағат бұрын
The cursing while searching for your orange disc in the leaves is an all-too-familiar sound as well. Your videos always go above-and-beyond the typical disc comparison videos. I highly recommend one of those big UV flashlights! They even light up many non-glow discs if they're yellow, orange, or some other bright color. I've returned many discs to their owners, and found some free gems with no name/number. Pays for itself.
@ducksharkings8 сағат бұрын
The large MVP UV-flashlight is a must. Remember to shine it on the underside of the disc if you make contact with the disc. I rubbed-off some of my graphics on the top-side of the disc before I noticed. I play night golf a lot and I have many discs. I find that MVP is far and away the best at glow plastic. In fact, you might lose some night vision if you charge it up too much! My glow glitch will interfere with my night vision if I am not careful. If you've never played at night, you'll find it is a whole different world. Familiar courses will be strangely new again. Fewer people means less waiting and the added benefit of not needing sunscreen!

I play a lot of glow and one thing I've noticed is brighter does not necessarily mean better. Some discs, especially mvp, glow so bright they ruin your night vision. How long the glow lasts is really all I care about. Give me 5 minutes of glow that doesn't blast away my night vision and I'll be happy.
@wzywgwzywg14 сағат бұрын
^ this. i have a proxy that's way too bright for putting. i hit it with a quick flash of the light from a distance to barely glow it up.

I don't even glow up my putting putter. By the time I pull it out I'm close enough I don't need to see it glow to follow it's flight

So tis the season.

FYI, 365nm UV lights don't work as good with certain plastics. It doesn't glow up my Kastaplast Berg to full brightness. But it works for other plastics, and it's really good at looking for discs because it doesn't emit as much ambient light.

I'm glad you mentioned having to play night rounds because of daylight savings, as it's not something I've considered. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so we play night rounds for the opposite reason. During the summer, it's one hundred and hell out during the day, so night golf is the way to go. Regardless, keep doing what you do, Greg. You are the absolute best channel on KZbin when it comes to this type of content. Thank you for all you do, my friend.

I tried the glow tape/vinyl, and while I agree it is a cost-effective option, I was severely missing out on actually watching the flight path of the disc after it was thrown

Amazing video. I've only been playing for a few months, and I was extremely disappointed with some of the glow discs I bought recently. One being the new Beetlejuice Buzzz and the Game of Zones Zone you reviewed here. Both amazing looking discs, but virtually no glow. Thanks for all you do!

Living in the Phoenix AZ area, our glow season is summertime as it's often too hot and/or UV intensive to play in the day except very early in the morning or at night.

Great review!! More detailed and scientific with your luminous sensor. TK disc golf did a great review during the previous run of Kastaplst and there is a noticeable difference, that was when MVP launched there new color Eclipse. I could tell myself when I bought some of the Kastsplast newer run summer of 2023. I would have like a comparison of MVP'S proto color glow, it seems that I have a few Eclipse that are noticeably blindingly brighter. (Those I take notice and give just a quick couple dots, for curiosity reasons) Excellent work!!

I'm not surprised the proto glow lasted so well in the test, I got the DX Roc and Champion Gorgon they released for Halloween in Proto Glow and they're fantastic in glowing. I've been able to play multiple shots off a single charging.

Personally I'm a big fan of the new Seasonal Glo. Obviously there are several brands that glow brighter, but I think one comment you made stands out "it just would not stop glowing". The advantage to the not-super-bright glow is it doesn't mess with your night vision, while at the same time lasting for several minutes making it easy to find like MVP or new Innova. My Seasonal Zone that I just picked up rocks. And the grip is very nice. EDIT: Made this comment before I finished the video lol

Get yourself some 2021 kastaplast glow and I promise you'll notice a very large difference between it and the 22 and 23 runs, I feel as though they've made strides towards improving the 24 glow, but nothing has really beat that sweet spot of 2021 kasta glow for me
@FreshMattyJ16 сағат бұрын
I agree Kasta has gotten worse or just not kept up with the competition at the very least. Still okay-good but Innova Proto and UV Z Glo from discraft are just as good in good condition in my experience.

Would love to see a comparison with ONLY color glow. For eg. the new Orange Gorgon, the White/Teal/Blue/Purple MVP, Doomsday has a couple of colored glow (Red and Purple), Discmania, Kastaplast, etc. I find the color glow easier on the eyes most of the time compared to the Green glow and try to get them over standard Green glow whenever I can. New MVP is almost too bright when you first light them up.

Kastaplast is hyperior according to my experience. Oh, and you can buy really good glow tape for years for a few euros / bucks. Just buy the stuff that's used to mark exit routes in buildings.

so, the 365 is better than 395 as disc golf glow charging light?
@curtisridenour10 сағат бұрын
Also i think the word is phosphorescent not fluorescent. My armchair googling says Phosphorescent materials glow after the charging light is extinguished while the Fluorescent ones do not glow without the light actively on them.

Uv beast v3 365n amazon, expensive but worth it. Just don't shine it around the house in the dark, you'll find that your house may not be as clean as you think. And also "not in the eyes" as I tell my kids.
@leopard313116 сағат бұрын
I disagree with your advise to not light the fairways at night. There are fantastic spotlights and "night vision" is over rated. It is more dependent on the lunar cycle. Lightning the fairway is essential with a new moon and unnecessary with a full moon. The other issue is snow and snow depth. Glow fails in deep snow. In snow i highly advise thin rubbons and at night lights. There is a reason the PDGA allows lights in snow. I am not sure about ribbons.

Fantastic video; loved everything about it. I have a Kastaplast Stal that glows great-nothing like Axiom/MVP, but pretty solid. Side question: Would they (DGPT, whoever) ever do a PRO-GLOW TOURNAMENT? Like are there any silver-series glow-anythings? I guess I'm asking if there are any legit glow-tournaments anywhere, past or future. Thanks again for such great content :)
