I'm glad you mentioned having to play night rounds because of daylight savings, as it's not something I've considered. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so we play night rounds for the opposite reason. During the summer, it's one hundred and hell out during the day, so night golf is the way to go. Regardless, keep doing what you do, Greg. You are the absolute best channel on KZbin when it comes to this type of content. Thank you for all you do, my friend.

Yeah, Kastaplast’s glow has experienced some setbacks. I noticed this around the same time they joined House of Discs. Which is interesting because after that amalgamation, Trilogy released Moonshine 2.0. I bought a SSD stamped Trespass recently and wondered if it was 1.0 or 2.0. When playing at the local glow leagues most people throw MVP and associated discs. Last night was the first time I watched someone w a Gecko. Finally, if anyone that reads this has access to a Moonshine Warship, I’d gladly take it off of your hands. Great content.
@rogerjones332Ай бұрын
I have 2022 glow Falk that glows great under a white led light. Kastaplast uses different phosphorescent chemicals, the glow doesn't last for 18 hours, like MVP's.

The cursing while searching for your orange disc in the leaves is an all-too-familiar sound as well. Your videos always go above-and-beyond the typical disc comparison videos. I highly recommend one of those big UV flashlights! They even light up many non-glow discs if they're yellow, orange, or some other bright color. I've returned many discs to their owners, and found some free gems with no name/number. Pays for itself.

MVP glow is wild. I have a prototype glow envy that got muddy when I was travelling for a tournament. Cleaned it and let it dry in the hotel bathroom overnight and ended up getting up in the night to use the bathroom and it was still glowing 4 hours later.

Yup, the duration that they still emit light is outstanding. Sometimes the best way to find one buried in some leaves, is shine a good UV in a sweeping motion. And turn off all lights.

From the data we collected in our glow test, MVP is the leader in glow brightness and longevity, with Innova’s new proto glow coming in at a solid second place. Everyone else is below those two. We have been using a lux meter in our comparisons for three years now.

Another fantastic video! Thanks for taking the time to make such an informative video! I'm a huge glow disc geek, to the point I transformed one of my old bags into a custom glow box (both the main and putter pockets), powered by two power banks. I can keep 11-13 discs constantly charged for 4-6 hours. But, enough about my geekdom haha. Before I crafted my glow bag - I purchased a flashlight with those 18650 rechargeable batteries, the uvBeast V3 365nm. Not only have I saved a ton of money on batteries (it's paid for itself a few times over) but that thing really is a beast (pun intended). It is significantly more powerful than my MVP Extra Large UV Flashlight I'd been using before. I'd like to see someone test glow discs using a flashlight like that, simply because the light is much more consistent (in my opinion) due to the type of batteries it uses. My MVP flashlight was fine, but I felt like it didn't take long before the brightness became noticeably dimmer as the batteries died down. Out of curiosity, did you have to change the batteries at any point throughout your testing? The geek in me would almost be curious how the Lux of the flashlight changes in relation to time/battery capacity. As always, you guys knocked it out of the park. Hope you all have a terrific weekend!

The large MVP UV-flashlight is a must. Remember to shine it on the underside of the disc if you make contact with the disc. I rubbed-off some of my graphics on the top-side of the disc before I noticed. I play night golf a lot and I have many discs. I find that MVP is far and away the best at glow plastic. In fact, you might lose some night vision if you charge it up too much! My glow glitch will interfere with my night vision if I am not careful. If you've never played at night, you'll find it is a whole different world. Familiar courses will be strangely new again. Fewer people means less waiting and the added benefit of not needing sunscreen!

Fantastic video, Wisconsin we are in full glo season. A few things I'd point out, getting a familiar mold in glo is NOT going to fly like your normal bagged mold of the same name, the other videos on this channel showing plastic types/stabilities is a good guide to predict relative stability for various manufacturers. For instance, I have a glo Envy that rivals a ZONE in it's overstability. So again to your point about the glow tape, yep, that's your best bet to repeat a day disc's flight in glo is to use your same disc and stick glo tape on it. ALSO...I made a glo bag , very fun hunt and it was a chance to experiment with lots of new discs and molds I had been curious about before but never tried. Some of them made my regular every day bag they were so good!

Great review!! More detailed and scientific with your luminous sensor. TK disc golf did a great review during the previous run of Kastaplst and there is a noticeable difference, that was when MVP launched there new color Eclipse. I could tell myself when I bought some of the Kastsplast newer run summer of 2023. I would have like a comparison of MVP'S proto color glow, it seems that I have a few Eclipse that are noticeably blindingly brighter. (Those I take notice and give just a quick couple dots, for curiosity reasons) Excellent work!!

The advantage to the not-super-bright glow is it doesn't mess with your night vision, while at the same time lasting for several minutes making it easy to find like MVP or new Innova. My Seasonal Zone that I just picked up rocks. And the grip is very nice. EDIT: Made this comment before I finished the video lol

OR you could do what we do for 7months in Alaska…. Use lights. U you can use any disc you want. And if you have any ambient light ( bright full moon, street lights, etc…) glow discs become very difficult to find, especially under snow. And there’s snow. Glow discs are very difficult to find under a few inches of snow. Here in Alaska we usually play with 1-3 ft on the ground and if you hyzer in steeply…. you’re gonna piss off your card mates looking for 10 minutes. Another advantage to lights is that it’s easier to track your disc when it ricochets off that tree hiding in the darkness. Just use a tri light or bobber light. Use super 88 3M electrical tape applied warm for max adhesion.

Your result on the Goliath Discs Pillar is not consistent with tests I've done. I don't know if there was a different run, but I tested an MVP Eclipse 2.0, an Axiom Total Eclipse, from Goliath Discs I tested the Pillar, Ambush, and Jireh in Gloasis and the Waymaker in Glo-T, a Mint Discs, Innova, Prodigy, and Gateway. MVP Axiom had the brightest initial glow and longest duration, but Goliath was a very close 2nd, being brighter after 2 minutes than most everything else was initially, and was still glowing strong after 10 minutes. This was purely visual, not with a lux meter, but based on my testing, I find that very hard to believe that it dropped out entirely in less than a minute. I will have to see if I can track down a lux meter somewhere.

I disagree with your advise to not light the fairways at night. There are fantastic spotlights and "night vision" is over rated. It is more dependent on the lunar cycle. Lightning the fairway is essential with a new moon and unnecessary with a full moon. The other issue is snow and snow depth. Glow fails in deep snow. In snow i highly advise thin rubbons and at night lights. There is a reason the PDGA allows lights in snow. I am not sure about ribbons.
