I use the free version of Proton, it does me 👍 the best paid for one I’ve had was Torguard, I could pay monthly which was very convenient and it was cheap! I couldn’t get it to work on my new laptop though so just use Proton now 🙂

I tried Proton VPN for a few months but found it had some issues . If I turn my computer off while the VPN was still connected the internet connection failed on start up and to get it back I had to start the VPN connect then disconnect and then shut it down . But the really bad thing was it was slowing things down very noticeably when it was NOT connected . OK when connected but slow when not and the computer behaved weird and jumpy . It would not uninstall from control panel and I had to manually remove the files that I could find . Now the computer is behaving again . I like the Proton email but the VPN , I had no luck with it .

Just want the FREE version. It gives just enough to thwart most companies tracking. No one is save from the government so don't expect a VPN to insulate you. Ain't gonna happen. Especially with quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

Can you explain what is great about the data protection laws? They make a claim and it gets repeated by everyone who reviews them but nobody asks what those laws mean for customers. I‘m not convinced one should upload things() over their VPN.

The company has been working with the French law enforcement in the past as correctly stated on your website. Next to privacy in general, torrents are another issue as using the protocol means that private users share and upload parts of the content described within a torrent file. Downloading content is in most cases no issue in Switzerland but uploading is and many have been fined.
