Without the Pope every man is a Pope ……..I was raised an Anglican but I cannot under any circumstances continue due to the wokery of the Church of England and Justin Welsby in particular…….so I am in limbo not knowing where to go , it would have been very difficult to accept the Roman faith years ago but I believe I can now and you have made that possible Dr Ashenden so thank you for that ..

An excellent discussion; and I regret that I've only just (October 2022) come across it. I've read a number of Dwight Longenecker's articles, and have always admired his spiritual and intellectual insights and perceptiveness. I've ordered his book!!

Excellent interview. I met him in England many years ago at a apologetics class in Walsingham around 2002. A great teacher just as you are Gavin.

An excellent interview. Points well made about Mary and feminism as well as the authority of the church, which is why in general the Orthodox Church(es) of Constantinople often consider only the Catholic Church of Rome as a sister church and even share communion on occasion (without going into exact details now).

Glad I listened again, restarting half way through to the end. The first half stung like salt to wounds already there due to experiences earlier in my life. I have to ask the Holy Spirit to let me let Him continue his work in me. Many good points, relevant, insightful. Thank you. 😀

Regarding the last part re conversion. The point was made that one who is not Catholic refuses the authority of the pope, and is there own authority. The corruption of many popes over the centuries would have not illegitemized the authority of the Church, but of the way it is perceived. The office of pope has led people astray by their promiscuity, murder, abuse of power, excesdive riches, and the list goes on. So, the hierarchy did as they pleased, was their own authority, divorced the Holy Spirit, abandoned the poor, worked to lead souls to hell, and continued to cover up their vile sins and depravation refusing to repent! It is one thing for people to reason that they can man-up and survive spiritually as a RC. But, how the conscience burns when thinking of entrusting the souls of their children and grandchildren to such a depraved gang of sociopaths. There are so many and the wicked are masked as the good so you can't know who are solid men of God. At least Anglicans have their priests and bishops set within their own families; there is some societal normalcy and maturity to these responsible men, husbands, fathers, priests. I digress. My point, what I'm getting at is people in good faith, I speculate, had to take charge of their religious experience, and do so without the totally remote papal authority and corruption of Rome. I think Church leaders splintered away attempting for the most part, and I over simplify, to correct the wicked by the grace of the Holy Spirit and Holy Scripture. I wonder if it's a bad thing actually. Charlie Rose in an interview asked Sister Dr Wendy Becket what she thought of the Reformation. She paused briefly and retorted that it was about time someone stood up to Rome and told them they couldn't keep getting away with what they'd been doing! I thought Sister Wendy was painfully honest. Bullies must be kept in check and if not, then at least there are those who won't buy into the circular logic/illogic that keeps them caught in the sins of the fathers. Thank you for letting share.

I have enjoyed listen to your video, i myself had an experience in 1987, it was an to me was a shock to my whole life and the way i see life after this vision i had, when you speak about Mother Mary, and without going into all detail here, that night in 1987, a Lady appeared in my room in this glowing light around Her, She is the most beautiful woman i have ever met, a smile that would melt your heart, and eyes so full of love, i can see why She was the woman to give birth to "Jesus", just watching Mary standing in front of me with Her loving smile, i felt this wonderful peace in myself, Mother Mary, spoke to me about things and prayer, and Her Son, and how it was important to return to Her Son as soon as you can, i will say here at this moment before i go on, what i say here is no way make me anything special or saint or what ever, i am just a man who encountered something very dear to my own heart, She spoke to me like a mother would speak, but a mother with a wonderful abundance of love, and told me about praying with a true heart, i was shown what you would call events on the room wall of things that will take place on the earth, earthquake's, volcanic eruptions, tidal waves, and other stuff, i was in a state of shock and fear but at the same time calm by Her love, out of all i saw that night will remain with me until i die, no one can shift it from me, i had to go through many things over the years, it was hard, before Mother Mary left me on the night, She lifted up her arms towards me, and rays of light came from Her hands and heart and came into my own heart, and i felt every part of what you could say the perfect love from heaven it self, i cried floods of tears like a river, and those tears was tears of perfect joy, and Her words to me then was "I Am Your Mother Now" and that was been in my heart since that night, i live that every day and night of my life.

Yesterday, I read the Douay Rhiems translation of the Apocalypse and Our Lady is clearly written about as a woman and as the Church. In Catholicism, Our Mother was created by God Almighty for His only Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to give Him a Mother. This must mean that the Creating of Our Lady's holy soul is the definition of Mother. She is Our Holy Mother and She is the first Catholic! Motherhood is superbly important in Catholicism.

As a fellow convert I understand much of what is said here. However, I'm not sure you can praise Mother Church without qualification in the era of Francis and all of the Protestant/agnostic bishops and cardinals that flourish under him: see Cupich, Maradiaga, Parolin, Spadaro etc. (Not to mention abusers. Where is the McCarrick report?) Francis is also sitting idle while the German Church does to Catholicism in one decade what seventy five years of "relevant and useful" Christianity did to the Anglican Church.

Thank You Dr G Ashenden for this! May 14, 1948 The state of Israel was born. May 14, is the Feast day of the Apostle Matthias. This feast was moved in 1971 from Febuary 24 . It is almost forgotten because of May 13 Fatima.

I like Dwight's comment about Our Lady's apparitions, that she isn't ethereal but physical. Vicka one of the Medjugorje visionaries told me as much.
