Hey mick .. mate just wondering if you have had a chance to try the origins long fall yet ? Also I know what the longfall technique is but do you think a 7'4 rod will impart a better action used slow pitch style on smaller jigs ? Thanks for your time again mate 👍🏻
@Micksgonefishing2 жыл бұрын
The long fall rods will definitely work smaller jigs better with the extra length but I personally found the long fall technique picked up a lot more less desirable species.. personally here in north QLD I’ve found the half pitch to be the most productive style for the more aggressive and desirable species up here!

hey mick, im tossing up between getting an all purpose rod and reel that i will be able to jig with, use bait and also possibly use stickbaits for pelagics. My budget for rod and reel would be no more than $800. Is that a good idea or is it worth it going for 2 combos at $400 - $500 each. any suggestions would help tremendously, cheers.
@Micksgonefishing2 жыл бұрын
Personally I’d look at the 2 combo options… definitely keep an eye on marketplace and see what pops up..

I’m in between the pe2 or pe3 elementus for 60-100g jigs for big snapper, Cobia, and Amberjack…looks like the 80g jigs had plenty of action on the heavier PE3 rod for you?
@Micksgonefishing2 жыл бұрын
Pe3 is the best all rounder, you can even work a 60g with the right technique and timing..
@pablo_jeffscobar_89882 жыл бұрын
I’m tossing up between the pe3 and pe4 elementus. Been told I’d need the pe4 to land anything decent but damn you still put the hurt on with the pe3 How much drag we’re you running on it roughly?
@Micksgonefishing2 жыл бұрын
Pe3 is plenty if you use the rod properly, there isn’t that much more power to the pe4 that justifies the sacrifice in action with 60 - 80g jigs. If you’re using more than 100g jigs exclusively then the pe4 is your rod.. I use an Ocea Jigger 1500HG and properly locked drag which is 7kg (a little bit more because I beef mine up) with pe3 Sunline Siglon ADV which does well and stops most fish, you’ll never stop them all though! I have a pe5 slow pitch setup I use with 130g + jigs and even that doesn’t stop them all…
@pablo_jeffscobar_89882 жыл бұрын
@@Micksgonefishing It will be the heavier of two jigging combos I’m taking away on a trip, jigging master reel loaded with pe3 and 120g-200g jigs so sounds like the pe4 rod will be the go! It’s one thing to load them up at the tackle shop but getting some first hand feedback is priceless. Much appreciated mate!

@@Micksgonefishing How much kg or lb does your reference PE 3 or PE 4 is? I am asking this because it seems your PE rating is in the lower kg or lb rating. A certain Asian line PE 3 and PE 4 is a lot like around 24-28 kg and 36 kg respectively.
