7 Second DATSUN 280zx -- (Splitfire Performance)

- A review of this beautiful 1979 Datsun 280zx, fully built drag car.
We found this Datsun racing at the Aug 15th "Canada Heads Up" drag racing event @ St Thomas Dragway.
- This car was built by Paul Bhawan, the owner of Splitfire Performance in Brampton ON.
- His car features a Nissan 4.8L inline 6 cylinder engine, which can be found in trucks built for the Australian market. We can't get this engine in North America.
This build also features a 98mm turbocharger and is capable of making 3000HP.
- It also features a Liberty Clutch-less 5 Speed transmission.
- Today Paul had the car set at around 1500HP, to feel out the track conditions and then ramp up from there. Paul runs this car in the "Super Street" class which is an 1/8th mile race. (Unfortunately the elimination rounds were rained out, so we only have the qualifying passes)..
- Paul has owned this car for 30 years and has also run it with a Nissan RB26 engine, and a Buick Grand National engine. He has a billet version of this Nissan 4.8L engine on the way, so look out for that!
