Hi Charles, first, thank you very much for your nice review! And second, sorry for did not see that earlier 😯 We checked out and saw you ordered your MagTube in DIY kit, that's why it seems a mistake has been made during the mounting process, which cause the "unstability" of the gunstock you mentionned. Technically, there's no notched washer needed for this connection (cf part 2.L on the MagTube mounting tutorial). So you probably took the one dedicated to the Back-end connection or the added one provided in spare parts. It really surprised us to see this because our sturdiness is one of our main strength which make our gun stock competitive and durable for most of the players. We also notice your wish to be able to test out ForceTube module, and you may be happy in a while.. 😁

I just got my carbon magtube stock and I love it. Best thing when trialing it to size is to adjust the controller mounts on the fly in free roam until when u you grip and un-grip the front end the line of sight does not change or jump a distance into position.

Please please please tell me how you hot yet dominant hand to line up straight with the pointer. It’s off by a lot! It’s Twisted and there is no way to twist the controller mount. Just up/down/left/right.

Very nice work mate! That flex looks pretty unnerving, I imagined the protubes being more stable. The misalignment issues must be from the lack of offset to compensate for the asymmetrical Q2 controller design and on top of that no possibility of rotational adjustment around vertical axis

Yes!!!! While I haven’t played that game specifically...2 handed swords in vr is almost as broken as holding a 2 handed gun without the gunstock.

I was playing around with a prototype kobra for a while, the white one, but i was waiting for a newer production model to run the review. I did get that one, the pink camo mk3, but it was delivered the day before i had a huge lot of film projects planned, so that little trailer was all i could jam out. Kobra review is still coming!

So I just purchased the protube gunstock for the quest 2 and set it up in Pavlov VR with the virtual stock enabled. is it better to have this enabled or disabled when using the protube?

Disable the virtual stock, it will just make the rear controller "sticky" when it gets near your shoulder. You don't need it with the physical stock.

I notice your rolling the rifles left a bit which irl would cause some ballistic issues since sighting is based on a vertical plane. Seems to work for you but is the stock causing that?

You keep mentioning the steep angle for the first joint, but couldn't you just adjust it to be more level and pull back the first grip point to make it equivalent?

The problem is not the angle itself, the torque introduced by the large controller offsets is. The positioning of the controller mounts was just lined up with the modus to show that difference. You could make the protube stiffer by flattening it, but it's all relative. The lower you can get the controllers to the tube, the fewer concessions you make to stiffness through the entire design. The bowk is the ultimate example of that, but yields adjustability to that cause.

For the love of God, someone PLEASE show a video of what you see though the quest and HIW you are adjusting your stock! I have tried EVERYTHING to get the damn controller yo sim straight, but the controller mount is “Twisted” too far, snd there is NO WAY to adjust the twist. So when in the menu I can’t even select items because the pointer is So Far Off. Any one please help. Protube has been useless. And dibt say “just go into contractors/onward and calibrate your guns. I have a ton of other FPS, and you can’t do thst with them.

Reloading or using grenades while using the stocks is extremely awkward and slow. Or is that just me? I like using the stock just to shoot with but it's immersion breaking the moment you go to reload and can't find the magnet on the stock while essentially blindfolded.

You get fast with muscle memory, there's barely a difference in time to firing once you're dialed in. Something which may help is getting the virtual hand positions to line up with your real hands on your favorite weapon. That way your view in the headset will work as a guide to the magnet point.

The modus had really nicely shaped cups, they've got a bit of a lip to them like the bowk does. Protube is like the glistco, the cups feel a bit slippery.

Nice review mate cheers over engineered for sure all that extra adjustability sounds nice but in my experience it has very little application and at the very real cost of stability/durability

How long does it take to not get motion sickness with these games?

I can't really tell. I've been using vr since it first went mainstream, and it varies a lot from person to person. I think if you're susceptible to car or sea sickness it may take longer, but the method of just taking it slowly and starting with stationary games doesn't change., Just never try to push through it, as that's how you form a negative association and response.

Nah the apto is like the pagani, it's another level up with no pretence of going racing. Also when i did this review the v3 didn't exist, and the existing apto was kinda very flexy.

kobra vs protube ?

They're not so much in competition, the kobra is all about immersion and the protube is about performance. That's a tough, subjective choice. Unless I'm using a shotgun. The modus v2 is a better version of the protube though, I would never hesitate to recommend that over the protube.

Virtual Rifle Systems is the most realistic, best made and hands down #1. That makes them the Bugatti of the virtual title stocks.

It looks like I'm in the minority here, but my experience with the Protube is mostly negative. Disclaimer, my issues may have been mostly tied to using Index controllers, which have more of a complex shape. It felt like my hand movements were pretty inhibited even though the magnet is easily removable. Even the slight force the magnets had was enough to make the experience somewhat choppy when reloading or switching weapons in a game like Pavlov. I'm sure this is something that many people are able to get around/get used to, but I just couldn't do it. Additionally, the 3d printed plastic was quite rough and slightly jagged (jagged is kind of an extreme word though), and I could feel it rubbing up against my palm while I was holding my controller. The part of the 3d prints that attaches the gunstock to your controllers was also way too tight, and I understand that its likely because they couldn't have done it any other way, but the tightness of the holsters gave my controllers some significant scratching/visual damage. If you're using the gunstock as more of a permanent solution, then I don't believe this is as much of an issue as it was for me. All of this being said, the main purpose of the gunstock is to provide a more stable/pleasant aiming experience, and it did just that. Too bad the cons heavily outweighed the pros (at least from my perspective). TLDR: Caused scratching on my index controllers and moving the controllers to and from the gunstock was very choppy/not smooth. Aiming/Immersion was good though.

Yeah i know the index mounts were a big issue with the protube, and their initial design relied on zipties which is never ideal. I do know people had more success with the modus index mounts, and the new bowk index looks like nothing else, but it's something i can't really try myself since importing an index is a fairly ridiculous proposition here.

I actually do, but it's not an exaggerated motion, the inward rotation is combined with a lift so i don't cross my hand over the stock. Because magnetism has such a small range of effect you're just not going to pick up the release normally.

If you go to the build depot shop get some PVC pipe with some t sections. Then you can just glue that together and try will cost you about 15 dollars, not as good but a good place to try it out before you splurge.
