As always thanks so much to you and Fal for allowing me to test your stocks and share my opinion. I don't know how many hours exactly I worked on that 5 seconds but my hope was it would be a fun way to visualize the DMR and Sidewinder merging into one. 😅

Curious how the Quest 3's increased handtracking performance and smaller grips may change how we handle VR gunstocks. I can imagine the controllers to be used for the stock itself, whereas any in game "hands off" interaction could be handled by the actual hand instead. This way, we wouldn‘t need to be reliant on inserting the grip of the controller into an unseen bracket, but could keep it inside the stock.

I love the Sidewinder as well. It's my go to stock. I love how light weight it is and when it comes to functionality there's not much that can match it IMO. The Vyper is very much like the Sidewinder but it's a bit heavier and the extra aesthetic bits can get in the way a little like I mentioned in the video, but it functions really well over all and definitely looks SICK!

Got mine yesterday 🎉 had to modify my kiwi grip a little, but well worth it. It's brilliant for on the fly changes in game. Cheers for the review and making Kobra known to myself and many others.

All Cobra gunstocks look great. It's a shame only, that updating the Etsy shop with new products is so slow. I was waiting, if the magnetic front holder or the Vader conversion kit for Quest controllers would show up in the store. Finally I didn't have the patience to wait for them or wait for Vyper and bought a Sidewinder with a new shoulder rest. Too bad I couldn't buy the Pump Action Addon, the price would be over 150€. The shipment would have gone through customs, which is a terrible bureaucracy. When I bought things from outside the EU that cost more than 150€, many times they stood in customs for 2 months before they were cleared and delivered to me...

@maraksot78 Would you say the vyper is more versatile than the sidewinder when it comes to using snipers and assault rifles? Wanting to play into the radius with snipers but also contractors with ars/smgs.

The Vyper and the Sidewinder are functionally the same stock. Both stocks perform fantastic in games; the Vyper is mostly just the more expensive, cooler looking version. The extra plastic does make it weigh more though too. Not a huge deal, but something worth noting. It does also have an adjustable shoulder stock and adjustable cheek rest which the Sidewinder does not, so it has a little more adjustability to it, but when it comes to getting your sights on the target and using different guns they're the same. Just to clarify, the Sidewinder and Vyper are Quest 2 stocks; just in case you have a Quest 3, you should know, they don't work with the Quest 3's controllers. The two stocks Kobra VR sells currently for the Quest 3 are the Blitzer and their Mag-Lock Ultra, but if you're on Quest 2 then you're good to go with either the Sidewinder or the Vyper.

I'm just curious, do you use the Kiwi grips (2nd gen) with these stocks? I think you've got the black/grey variant in this review. I'm thinking of getting them. Got their battery head strap, facial interface, and case, so have nothing but good things to say about Kiwi's accessories. Anyway, the Vyper doesn't appear to be available yet, so I think I'll go for the Sidewinder.

I use some grips from AMVR which replace the battery cover on the Quest 2 controllers and don't add any bulk like silicone grip covers do. I used to use a Kiwi design head strap and really liked it. I recently switched to one from a company called BinBok VR that has hot swappable 8000Mah battery packs which has been great for me since I make VR videos. It allows me to keep using my headset all day long if needed. I love the Sidewinder! It's a great stock. It's super lightweight and performs excellently for all your SMG's, AR's and other rifles. Right about the time I put this video out, Kobra VR's Etsy store got hacked and was taken down for several days. Dealing with that put them behind on launching the Vyper, but I talked to Falandorn today about it and he said there's just a few more things to finalize and it'll be up for sale. He didn't specify a date but just said it would be available soon.

@@Maraksot78 Thank you for the rapid response and the introduction of a new accessory maker, AMVR. I'll get those for general compatibility. That hot swappable battery strap from BinBok VR sounds incredible, but I am happy with the strap from Kiwi because I (and the Goddaughter who I regularly babysit and VR keeps her quiet) rarely play for more than 3 hours per session before I need a couple of hours to catch my breath. I think I'll get the SW with its adjustable shoulder stock and cheek-rest. I'm not really fussed on the aesthetics of it and more concerned with aiming stability and completing the illusion that I'm holding a two-handed gun or pistol w/stock, and the folding action looks very handy for throwing, interactions, and picking stuff up off the ground. I'll probably get the pump action attachment at a later date. As odd as it feels to "hold" 2-handed guns in VR wo/stock, pumping a shotgun in VR with just the two Q2 controllers is very weird and worse in those panicky moments.

No, this stock only works with the Quest 2. Kobra VR had hoped they'd be able to retro fit their Quest 2 gunstocks to work with the Quest 3 controllers, but it turns out the way they track is very different than the Quest 2 controllers and they ran into a host of problems trying to come up with a retro fit solution. In the end, they had to design a completely new gunstock for the Quest 3 which is actually going to launch very soon. I'm currently working on a review of it. I'm hoping to have it done this week. 🙂

Man this stock seem literally perfect. It's a shame it's been delayed so much thanks to the Etsy store being hacked and other circumstances. Obviously I understand that was out of Kobra's control, but is there any update of when it will be available? Is he making a bunch of them and stocking up so he won't sell out as quickly on release?

Yah, their store getting hacked kinda threw a wrench into things and now that the Quest 3 has launched Fal's hard at work designing a stock to work with it because all his existing designs don't work with the new controllers because they track so differently than the Quest 2 controllers and even the Quest Pro controllers. Every time someone asks me when the Vyper is coming I bug him about it and as of right now he's put it on the back burner until he gets the Quest 3 stock sorted out.

​@@Maraksot78 That makes sense. I am curious how he'll design stocks moving forward, but since I don't have a Q3 I'm more concerned with the Vyper. It kind of feels like the culmination of all his older Q2 stocks so if he focuses exclusively on the Q3 moving forward I'm okay with that. I just kinda wish he'd get the Vyper out before designing new stocks.

@blake2697 The Vyper really is the culmination of all of Falandorn's different gunstock designs. It's got it all IMO. It's got exceptional functionality and looks amazing too. I assumed they would have released the Vyper before now, but I'm sure they have their reasons. I do know with the Quest 3 just launching it is important for them to get a stock out for it before the buzz and excitement fades, plus ai think Falandorn loves designing and creating more than anything else. That guy never stops tweaking, improving and perfecting his stocks.

Hmmm... I don't know. I didn't realize it wasn't on their store right now. Right around the time I brought this video out someone tried to hack their Etsy store and it was down for several days while they got that figured out, so that may have something to do with why they're taking longer to get the Vyper up on there? Ok... I talked to Falandorn and he said their store getting hacked set them back a little bit but also said the Vyper will be launching soon. He didn't specify a date but said there was a few little things he was tweaking on it to get it ready for production and it'll be ready. So yah, I don't know how long it's going to be exactly but based off of how quickly he's been able to move on things in the past, I imagine it's going to be within the next week. Maybe two weeks at the most. But again that's just me making a guess.

It's coming. Unfortunately things have gotten slowed down a bit. Right after this video went live, their store got hacked and Etsy shut down their store. It then took the better part of a week to get it back up and running again. And since they couldn't access their account during that time, they couldn't access their order information, so that messed up their production schedule a bit. They've also been working on launching a store through Shopify, and it's taking longer than they anticipated to get it all set up. I keep asking them when the Vyper and new store will be up, and they just keep saying "soon".
