Proven Industries only manufactures products out of the strongest materials. In order to have the best coupler lock you have to start from the ground up, this has been our motto from the beginning and has set us apart from our competitors. We manufacture coupler lock model 2178 out of ¼ steel and most competitors only use cheap casted materials to keep production cost low. This was no oversight when Proven Industries was constructing the best trailer coupler lock on the market.

These locks are the best. And the customer service is great. Bought a coupler lock a couple years ago. Recently I bought a new puck lock for it that wouldn’t fit. They sent me a whole new assembly free of charge and told me to keep the old one. That’s great service. I highly recommend this product

Why didn't you use the pry bar in-between the casing and the puck? If the puck is aluminum and not a solid piece, I think if would break easily.
@IdontNeedHandles

Because braking their own lock is last thing he wanted :)
@jessr.2490
@jessr.2490 2 жыл бұрын
It won’t. For one, there’s not enough space for a pry bar to get between the puck and the casing. Secondly, it’s a seriously solid puck, and the bolt that is inside to secure it to the casing, is seriously solid as well. A perp isn’t getting into it without some serious drilling. Definitely more than they’ll want to do without taking forever and drawing attention to themselves.

To those people that commented on the latch being up when he pried the devices off as being deceptive: those locks did not secure the latch at all so why wouldn't someone trying to take your trailer lift it up before prying? I don't see any deceit and yes the puck does look like the weakest point but looks like a better lock than the competition to stop the less equipped thief.

Those other coupler locks do NOT have full size balls inside them that would be held by the coupler latch. They have 1/2" or so pins, or 1" knobs. Neither would be held by the coupler latch at all.

David Rowley I purchased the Proven Industry lock 3 months ago and feel very good about it. I upgraded the puck lock to stainless steel instead of aluminum. It is pricey but a great lock to secure my investment. I’ve seen people on my security video drive through my driveway that goes behind my house to get a closer look. Pretty obvious what they were up to especially when driving past a no trespassing sign.

sold! I know they are not cheap but still far far less than the loss I would take if one of my trailers went missing. I recently had one broken in to right outside my bedroom window, a cargo trailer,they didn't even mess with my expensive case harded steel disc lock they just gut the damnd latch with bolt cutters and apparently did it pretty quite like ot they would have had woken me up and been run off in a hurry. I need to find a way to better secure the doors of my trailer including the actual handles being cut, there needs to be an automatic/remote controlled locking system that locks from within.

A couple of friends with major investments in Airstreams use these, so I bought one. If you are going after this system with a battery powered grinder, it's going to require multiple batteries. On a straight tongued utility, boat, landscape trailer, the body needs to be long enough to cover the bolts that attach the coupler to the tongue. Otherwise, with a couple of wrenches, the coupler and lock are gone . Bolt on a new coupler and your trailer is gone.

To all you that are calling the pry bar a crow bar, get it "straight" !! A crow bar is a heavy straight bar about 5" long that has a flat tip on one end and a point on the other. Btw that is an awesome coupler latch lock. I have one one my trailer. I only wish I had better security on my doors.
@billybobjoe198

I would absolutely call what he used in the video crow bars. Those are the only things I call crow bars. I have no idea why you think a crowbar must be 5 inches long, or why you think crow bars have a point on one side, If you meant 5 feet long, what you're thinking of is a digging bar, which is absolutely not a crowbar. Crowbars, in my opinion, made of round bar, and have a serious hook on one end with nail grooves, usually in both ends. If the bar is flat, it's no longer a crow bar.
@ericlewis6470
@ericlewis6470 5 жыл бұрын
I meant 5 feet long! the bar you described is a goose neck nail bar, not a crow bar! It is a miss conception The crow bar is straight as the crow flies. which is not used just for digging. It was used in building the railroad tracks. to pry and help move the ties into place. and many other uses. you can call it a digging bar if you want, but you would have to call it a rock buster too. You probably call a wonder bar a crow bar too.

@@ericlewis6470 The Stanly Wonder Bar? Those are pry bars. Your perspective on this is interesting but I can't find common useage to back this up. That would be interesting if the original use of the term crow bar came from rail rod construction.

My friend had the front of the tongue set up so it is removable. You unbolt the front and reinstall when needed. A pain in the ass but he still has him enclosed trailer.

Don’t want your trailer stolen? Don’t leave it in a place where thieves can get to it. If that’s not possible use as many deterrents as possible. Locke the wheels, brake locks, hitch locks, whatever it takes to make it as hard as possible and as time consuming as possible. Thieves like low hanging fruit, not a challenge.
