I’m impressed you managed a 9 minute video on how to breed guppies 😂! I would have been able to mange 20 seconds if that! Add a male and a female, 3 months later u have a billion 😅!

🤣 true but many try that and fail or produce some super weak fish over time

Seems like 3 out of 4 channels do it quite easily just to have the video 10 minutes for monetization. This is just me going through the KZbin search which also gives totally unrelated videos to guppies and forces a recommendation to unrelated videos to the search of Breeding guppies.

@@RyanStonedonCanadianGaming thats an old thing where youd get a third ad after 10 mins. Doesnt apply now because you can choose to put extra ads regardless of how long it is. I just leave mine on auto

Good video, Blake. I actually put one male per 5 females, especially if the male is really persistent. My females seem to do better if they are not over0chased. I like all of your live plants.

Thanks for your video. What plants would you recommend to use in the tank when you are cranking the temperature up to 28 degrees? Also how much does it shorten the life span? Have also heard that shrimp don't do well if you turn the temperature up?

shrimp dont do well at high temps no. life expectancy of around 1 to 2 years. valisneria is a very hardy plant that is a good choice

I you live in the US- Petsmart sells a rosette sword that’s been thriving in my heated guppy tanks. I had to heat them to 80-82 degrees f while treating parasites. They’re dong great & so is my Val. And water sprite does well too.

Thanks for the video. I'm having problems with them over breeding. Lol. But wonder what your thoughts on having mixed guppy strains breeding? Instead of keeping seperate lines, what would be the likely outcome of just having a free for all guppy tank with say 5 or 6 lines of guppies interbreeding. Thanks again for your vids
@BlakesAquatics Жыл бұрын
Youd end up with some healthy guppies but a mixture of all sorts of things and following generations would breed less and less true. Nothing wrong with it though itd be fun to watch

How i had sucsess with my baby guppies and platies is i feed small amounts of crushed flakes 3 times a day, i always keep a small piece of cooked carot i use caned carots and once or twice a day i feed my homade fish food paste the ingredients is carots, green beans, egg shells, turtle sticks, one pinch of fish flakes and brine shrimp if on hand and add a little water make sure not to add to much water or wont work i blend evrything in a blender till looks like thick goop i let sit in frige for a couple hours then i feed a small amount once a day this recipe makes a lot so if your not breeding a lot of fish i recomend reducing evrything i mesured most in 1/4cups and ended up with to much for my fish so i freeze the rest for my adult fish and snails. Note i always have a small about of food in the tank laying around because baby fish eat all day long to kill ypur baby fish is not feeding enough thats why i always provide a pice of carot so if they get hungry they dont have to wait for me to feed they will always have food to munch on. I clean my breeder box once a week and do water changes once or twice a week in my 20 gallon tank empty half the water with 6 adult fish, 10 baby fish and 14 mystery snails and i rinse off my filter once or twice a month but i never clean the filter the same day as my weekly water changes because the filter is whats running your tank with beneficial bacteria and keeping your fish alive. If anyone hss any other question feel free to ask me this is just my personal exsperiance with raiding guppies plattys and mystery snails

@BlakesAquatics what do you think of a singular dwarf crayfish? Just spitballing for a good way to take care of a stray dead guppy or two in a 100+ gallon scenario

How long have you been breeding guppies?
@Fish-Addict Жыл бұрын
IMO most guppy keepers fail because they do not know how genetics work or how to maintain traits/lines. They assume they need as many mixed genetics as possible to have a "good" fish. Inbreeding is not the issue, that's how we got specific strains, it's breeding genetically weak fish(set and forget) that becomes the issue.

That's why I bought Brian Chins book and the blue-green Moscows he uses throughout. I am going to walk the path of a master, compete at a few shows and then start getting creative on my own. There are several traits I want to select for in my endlers, like the huge dorsal fin and pastel metallics. Thankfully liquid rock flows from my taps already.😊
