This trip starts out in a nightmare of problems in Providence Forge, Virginia when a broken trailer prevents the trucker from picking up a load of paper. Eventually the sun comes out and the trucker makes it south on I95!

Jack as a retired driver due to a back injury you brought back some fond memories. I've picked up from that mill , have been to those truck stops, and everyone should be thankful there is no smell a vision. Unless you love the smell of rotten cabbage which what pulp mills smell like to me. Also be thankful you didn't eat the food at South of the Border, being from the west coast. Taco Bell's food is four star compared to what comes out of there at times.Otherwise thanks for the memories OTR you love/hate it but miss it soooo much when you can't drive across this magnificent country 70 hours a week. Keep the shiny side up and be safe driver!

Hello Mr. Indiana Jack; I'm writing you from Romania; in E.U. the trailers are a little shorter (42-43 ft.) and have usualy 3 axles so they are stiffer. Maybe safer too. Anyway I'm a long time subscriber and I find your vids. awesome. Congrats and good trips

Those paper mills usually are rather messy. I always called Temple Inland in Maysville, Kentucky "the swamp" because their lot was always wet and muddy, even if it hadn't rained in a long time. However, I used to drive a lot for International Paper and they normally got me in and out quickly. I never had to sit very long before I was ready for my next load. And yeah, the weight on those rolls of paper is no joke. I hauled them a lot for International Paper. They're usually ranging somewhere between 6-7,000 lbs each. What I liked about them is that there was never any reason to adjust the tandems for weight balance: they put a lot of weight in the front of the trailer, so all I ever had to do was slide the tandems all the way forward and I was good to go.

Hi Jack hope all is well with you my name is Graham Duke just finished trucking after 45 years, so different to you but in some ways the same have driven across Europe to Eastern Russia to Northern Finland Norway down south of Italy Spain all over the place.....I was looking at your trailers and in Europe the did away with two axle trailers and every one has to run 3 axles and they should move your axles forward to give better balance and strenth all six axels are air ride even better enjoy your videos we have tolls now all over Europe and so costly my last truck was a 730 Volvo full auto braking which all trucks have to have from jan 2020

+Tom H Hate going to this place. Gotta back up to the dock, sweep your trailer out etc. Last time I was there my trailer wasn't even in the lot so I had to drive around and keep telling them that the @#$@ wasn't there... Hour later yard jockey bring its around. Those loads in Providence are always 40k lbs anyway. You don't want it!
@SmoothJohnson8 жыл бұрын
+Triton Fintan ....all of that is enough, bad logistics and heavy loads are enough. The real kicker for me is that they're complete, utter, total assholes about all of it. It's one thing to be disorganized and for your operation to be a hassle, it's another to be openly hostile.

American Sugar Refining in Yonkers NY is notorious for rejecting trailers for that same reason. The sign is posted in the shipping office which is really a office trailer. I think if I remember right if it has 2 or more it's an automatic reject. They also like to walk inside the trailer with a bright LED flashlight and look at the floor for glass, metal, whatever. Not all the time but they do do it. I got rejected once and had to go from Yonkers to Edison NJ for a load of Arizona Tea...been there right with you

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I watched this whole thing, and then you arrive at that place. I know that place...guess why? Because years ago I was sent there the day before Thanksgiving on short time. I called them and said I can't deliver unless I can sleep in your yard...they say: come on down, no problem. I get there short on time and some security guy says I can't deliver unless I have a certain kind of hardhat and oh, guess what? He's selling them. I get into a standoff with him, saying I'm not buying anything, he insists that I move, I say I'm not moving the truck so come try to move 78,000 lbs. Eventually they call to complain to my company and my dispatch agrees to pay them for the stupid hardhat scam and I deliver and they threaten to call the police unless I leave. So, having no time, I cross the street and find somewhere to park in a residential area....I'm there sleeping, when the police bang on my truck and insist that I leave. I explain the whole situation to them, I was promised parking, I have no hours...what can I do... and they insist that I wake up and drive anyway, so I head across town and receive an HOS violation notice from my company. The next day, having had to park someplace far from any toilet, I woke up badly needing a toilet and had to walk uncomfortably at least a mile to a gas station where there was no TP and no paper towels...so I ended up using paper towels from the overflowing trash can. Yup. That was one of the last trips I made before deciding that I'd had enough of OTR. What a miserable bunch of assholes at that place....really.

Its too bad companies with large acreage lots don't allow parking for truckers to do they're job legally. Although, I do remember when I drove for Schneider, I saw a union driver with RYDER at the Dodge plant in St.Louis, MO walking around with a heavy steal mallet crawl out from underneath a dropped trailer from another company and dented one of the brake chambers. I wish I had a camera then! When he saw me he just smiled nervously like nothing happened.

ALL of your time getting repairs and waiting @ should've been logged off-duty/sleeper. After you were finally loaded, then your 14 hr day would've begun. $$$$ Sleep when your dead. Look at what on-board recorders have taken away from the driver. A free day given to the CO. you drive for and the shipper. Miles never to be regained!
