I became teary eyed at the mention of Khan Academy. I belonged to a very humble background and was unable to afford expensive tution. Therefore, attribute a huge credit to those videos for my early education, and am sure a lot many others do. Life has changed since then, as I found success in my academic career. Sal and his team are doing God's work in this world. Thankyou Mr Bilal for your contributions and Muzammil for inviting him over.

For all those who are showing empathy towards starving people should think why they have reached the rock bottom of civilization, it is primarily lack of education, illiteracy and ignorance playing its part, big time. Some optimistic approach would surely help

The Iqbal's verse was: افراد کے ہاتھوں میں ہے اقوام کی تقدیر ہر فرد ہے ملت کے مقدر کا ستارہ What a sorted out and articulate individual Bilal Musharraf is. A pleasant talk to listen to, he has such an easy going way of listening to and then explaining his thoughts on varied subjects. Good questions from Muzammil too. Very good podcast! 👍

After listening to this interview my faith in young generation is restored. This is how you conduct an interview with good questions and intelligent answers. For a willing student education is universally available in this globalised world. Many world renowned universities have access to their educational sites. Khan Academy has done wonders to the education system please tap these resources. As an octagenarian I will tell you this was not available till the middle of 80's. A good education is the answer to most of the evil which exists in the world today. ٰ I will remind our viewers by a couplet from Allama Iqbal عمل سے زندگی بنتی ہے جنت بھی جہنم بھی یہ خاکی اپنی فطرت میں نہ نوری ہے نہ ناری ہے علامہ اقبال

Thank you so much for inviting him, and besides all of his amazing and impressive work, I would love to mention his father who revolutionized the education sector for lower-class people like myself and gave us a chance to be competitive with the rest of the world. Hundreds of students like myself will forever be indebted to the Pres. Musharraf for serving Pakistan as a true nationalist. Though I am far away from Pakistan but people like Bilal Musharaf and Muzammil and many others give me hope that my old country will thrive InshaAllah.

I’m an Army brat as well, currently living in the UK for my postgraduate degree. The life Army gave us was not at all upper in status or something but it was different. I can relate to Sir Bilal when he talks about living in a certain city (Kharian for example) and I can imagine the daily life of an Army household. This episode is a gold mine and I can’t thank you enough. I am an overseas Pakistani and such interviews give me hope that Pakistan will eventually come out of the darkness that we see currently. no wonder Bilal is such a mature, intelligent, cerebral guy, that it must have been torture to tolerate a beanbrain, shallow person like Rahul Gandhi. We in India are so embarrassed about him. There are many Pervez Musharraf fans in India, knowing fully well his India dislike, and that's okay.. However his leadership & clarity in articulation was awesome and many strategic thinkers feel that real peace & tangible Kashmir solutioning would have been possible only between 2 strong decision makers & true leaders of men like Mush & Modi, who are both strong, popular, powerful, non-corrupt nationalists. Alas too late for that now , their reigns were not in congruence. MMS was a decent cerebral PM for India, alas too weak & pusillanimous to drive things, being under the shadow of Sonia Gandhi who remote controlled him in a manner most foul. May Mush rest in peace and much good wishes for his son & family, who are such decent, moderate educated Indians, so similar to much of middle class Urban Indians.

One thing without doubt I can say is Musharraf was not corrupt. We may agree or disagree with his policies but he was not financially corrupt. We can see dispite having highest level of power he didn't take any financial benefits nor did he use his influence make his children lives lavish . His son had to struggle and acheive everything for himself. Not many army generals do so especially seeing the tax leaks of Gen Bajwa.

Well-educated, grounded, self-effacing and polite. Musharraf and his wife raised remarkable children who shunned the life of privilege which their father could have easily provided for them, and chose to carve a life for themselves. A rarity indeed, in a country like Pakistan.👍

i didnt think i would enjoy a podcast with someone ive never heard of but is ccertainly a well rounded educated and well groomed individual the problem with education is something plagueing pakistan and needs a certain level of back and forth among teachers it is well researched that one way learning always ends up not teaching anyone anything the teacher must be willing to listen and learn from his students ( jack of all trades master of none ) ; teachers should invoke curiosity within their students and for them to seek out answer and program them to not rest unless the find the answer our education system is pretty much lakeer ka fakeer our maths chemsitry physics teachers are essentially masters in their field but more so than that teachers need to be an advocate for their subject so much so that their students take an interest in what this field is etc about leadership of 2050 , humans have a problem of losing hope because the future is something they cant control, so i agree with sir bilal that do your job keep your head down and stay honest and things will eventually change the problem is here we want too many things too fast never in history has anything happened drastically its neither the worst possible situation and its neither the radical change its something somewhere in between Sri Lanka is often mentioned but go see RHS 1 day layover in srilanka life went on and everyone around seemed more or less happy that things are bad now but they will slowly get better so its not a jungle over there

Great episode as always. Could you do one with Anwar maqsood Sahab? Pretty sure his life experiences alone could be worth listening or how he has seen Pakistan all these decades. It doesn't have to be art/drama/literature centric theme specifically. Hope you guys can make it happen.

Firstly, congrats frm India on a superb interview.. Bilal is such a mature, intelligent, cerebral guy, that it must have been torture for him to tolerate a beanbrain, shallow person like Rahul Gandhi. We in India are so embarrassed about RaGa and his foolish utterances. it might surprise many that there are many Pervez Musharraf fans in India, despite his India- dislike, and that's okay.. May Mush rest in peace and much good wishes for his son & family, who are such decent, moderate educated people , so much similar to mamy a middle class Urban Indians families. So much to identify with him, and best wishes to him.

A major challenge is to provide electronics and the internet to most of these kids. Kids also need elders to guide their study, so you need teachers to come on board with this.

01:22:00 Muzammil, there's nothing to worry about when we have people like yourself. We will never be short of leaders. Pres Musharraf deregulated media, telecommunication, and revolutionized education, the nature will take it's course and these three things have change the dynamics for everything in Pakistan. We can use our religion to act as a navigator and inshaAllah future of our leadership is very bright.

What he mentions towards the end about level 5 leadership is exactly what Imran Khan just mentioned in his discourse with Qasim Ali shah a day or two back. Im a millennial and extremely depressed about my people and my country but it's the wisdom and intellect of well brought up and we'll travelled folks like him and Imran Khan that give me hope. He's right , ye loag aqliyat main hain lekin maujood Hain!
