Quick explanation for why the boxcars brakes are so high is so that brakemen can run along the top to engage the brakes. About as safe as you would think.

The reason the brake is high on the box car is because back in the day when there was no airbrakes for the entire train there would be a brakeman in the caboose and whenever they needed to brake to go around sharp corners and stuff the brakeman would come out of the caboose and climb up on the car that is in front of the caboose and he would run across the top of the train manually throwing the handbrakes while the train would be going down the track.

Shouldn't be that hard. One that updates live with your track placement may be tricky, but considering the 3rd party track editors can already show your track, at the very least having the game read the file and update the map with track placement on load should be simple enough.

@@cyantasks7129 kinetic Energy will stay the same K=m*V2 so if you reduce the weight the speed has to go up to mantein the same amount of mechanical Energy. it's easier to see with Momentum cause Q=m*V. so if out of nowere you halve the mass, the speed double. It's the reason why spaceship can change direction or accelerate on Vacuum, expelling some mass

I don't know if the phisics of the game is this good, but can it be just momentum? Q=m1*V1, when you remove some weight to it, the momentum will reamin the same so lowering the weight means increasing the speed Q=m2*V2->m2*V2=m1*V1 so V2=V1*m1/m2

Technically... you can see that when kAN unloads the train, the products fall vertically down -- which means that they do not take any momentum with them, and all of the momentum remains with the train. This further supports your explanation. But this also means, that in the process of unloading the train, the invisible gnomes who throw the pipes and beams and whatnot from the moving train onto the platform -- those gnomes accelerate the cargo backwards before unloading it. The reaction force from that acceleration is what pushes the rest of the train forward. Leaves me wondering who those gnomes are, and whether the developers intended for them to exist in their gameworld...

Would it be possible to deliver the tools and pipes with a gravity railway? You'd need to build the groundwork high enough that the cranes just about load the cars, and then have a constant grade (maybe a bit steeper at the start to overcome friction and get them going.

You wouldn’t blow the whistle in the shunting yard unless there is a grade crossing in that case you would do two long whistles, one short whistle, and one long whistle

whistle signal when passing by crew on the ground is 2 short. speed limit = slow. 1st Rule of Railroading = re-line the switches back to main route once your train is clear. BOING!!!! = scratch one Eureka and your brand new Boxcar!

Climax was the first engine I bought but because my ruling grade is just 1.5% between freight depot, sawmill and logging camp it kinda useless for just 16 cars. Currently building a line down to the smelter. Even found a 1.5% route which would have been very beautiful run (and I will build it). But I decided for a 4% main line just to have a, reason to use more powerful engines. Even half build a 1.5% line to the iron mine which I will tear down again and replace it with a 7% run. It would've only be useful with 100 car long trains or such. And already my standard 16 car trains are annoying. Takes so long to load check breaks and just walk down the train if you back into a siding.
