26:54 I am a redstone guru, so let me explain. Repeaters do three main things. Extend the redstone strength, delay the redstone signal, and if it is just a short pulse, it will also extend the pulse to the same length as the delay. This third thing is most likely what causes problems because a three tick pulse would activate the observer twice, thus adding an extra pulse to the clock each time. A fourth thing they can do is hard power blocks. And a fifth thing is lock other repeaters. If I missed anything they do, please reply what I missed. Also, if this comment helps you please let me know, because I like writing helpful comments, but I don’t know if they really help.
@jonathanpeters4240
@jonathanpeters4240 7 ай бұрын
That about covers it, and yeah you're correct about observers detecting it turn on and off at 3 ticks of delay. I'm sure this kind of comment is helpful, when I was a redstone noob I always learned something from reading comments.

@@travislapham3479 If I understand the question correctly, nothing. A repeater will only effect the block in front of it. Unless of course an observer detects it

Years ago I tried to adapt ImpulseSV's multi-item storage system to Bedrock, but that was before we had Observers and nobody at that time yet knew how to make a reliable item elevator more than 3 blocks tall, so it wasn't reliable and items would skip one chest in every other slice. I haven't thought about that in a long time, but I'm ready and eager after your video. I just need an iron farm to make all those hoppers (my current survival world is still in the early game).

Yep, the space between chests is the tradeoff. There are systems that have no gaps, but they are thicker, and a complete mess of rails, observers, and redstone that is very hard to place.

Really glad I found this video! I made some improvements to the design you may be interested in: Instead of using an observer tower to return the items, I use a glass shaft running on the same clock signal. When a player inputs items into the storage, the items come from the floor through the glass shaft giving you some visual eyecandy. All I had to adjust to get the timing again from the elevator was adding one more locking row of hoppers at the top. 3 blocks of space between the Chests and the glass shaft gives exactly 7 blocks of space for a water item chute. It adds a lot of charm to the build. I also combined some basic item filters with the input hoppers. This directs all minerals into the second wall (ore, ingots, nuggets, blocks, raw ore, emeralds, diamonds, redstone) This skips some items farther ahead in the item waterfall :) Wall1 flows to Wall3, then 2 and 3 flow to the dump chests. I also added a redstone torch below the lever to enable the system, and it locks the input hopper when the system is disabled. (to help kid-proof it)

Discovered this and was super excited, spent some time making a witch farm for more redstone and mining nether quartz for all the observers, only to realize you wrote it's for Bedrock. I hoped it would work in Java but it doesn't - at least the item elevator doesn't because the observers don't flicker the torches in front of them. Prowl, you have completely outdone yourself on this one! Seriously, I was basically finished putting in all my item filters for my grand storage room (which I hope will eventually connect with some of my farms)... And I'm most likely going to rip out ALL of that stuff behind the scenes and install this system. One question though - my storage room is designed with regular gaps for some decorative columns - do I just need to put in an observer/torch tower behind each column to make up for the spots I won't have chests??

Great job. I think this item sorter will work even with clunky bedrock glitches. It also seems like you can unload the area without any issue due the spacing and slow timing. These are very very slow to get a shulker full of items sorted. I built silence whisperer sorting system in creative first. Worked fine but lost some stuff in the system every so often. Built in realm and completely broken. Seems much more reliable and much, much less expensive.

Me and my partner have spent 5 months building a mega storage, however it's only 380 individual filters so I'm going to slap this on to it and get all the random stuff like slabs and all the foods, stuff like that and than my main storage is for all the mass quantity stuff. Tip if u want a storage system and have a phone, by minecraft join your world and pop him in the centre, make sure he can load everything and your storage will always run, this improves the quality of having a system like this alot better.

Built it to spec worked off the go minimal misses but I was ok with that as my systems a bit bigger 4 sets of 15 slices and another 64 slices of bulk storage on the other side. This worked for me for a while. I MUST STRESS THOUGH. Even with a new gen console you won’t be able to build any other redstone contraptions larger then a bamboo farm without causing major breakage. THIS SYSTEM IS AWESOME VERY EXPENSIVE BUT AWESOME. Make sure you give it some space to breathe though unless your out here playing bedrock on a nice PC

So theoretically, if I didn’t want to use a ton of observers for the item elevator, could I use a water elevator fed by a dropper? Alternatively, could I just use a dropper facing upwards to feed items into a solid 3x3 “tube” to get them to whatever height I needed? I am a fairly novice player when it comes to Redstone so I’m not sure if I could substitute the dropper item elevator for a solid tube or water elevator. I’m in the process of building my sorter right now so either way I’ll find out when I try it. I’ll update with the results!

System works apart from I noticed the redstone torch and observer towers being pretty unreliable so switched the hopper locking tower to use bells instead of torches which provided a consistent pulse time. Also replaced the item elevator with glass shafts and removed the droppers as items kept getting stuck and wouldnt budge, hooked the bottom droppers up to the systems redstone clock. These 2 changes and system seems to work reliably now with bedrocks janky redstone. Apart from that cool tutorial dude

Not OP but if you looked, he basically filled the chests with 1 item in each tile so as the hoppers cycle through it will only push an item through if the items in the chest match. This wouldn’t work for non stackable items like swords/armor/totems/etc. another way he had it was by using placeholders to fill the gaps that aren’t used. So say you want a chest solely for iron ingots but you only have 5. You can spread the 5 across 5 tiles and then the rest of the tiles you fill with a placeholder item. In the vid he used red tinted window panes that he renamed to space holder. But you don’t need to rename if you don’t want to

So for one slice it's with all stuff including input it would be 10 chest's 8 wooden steps 34 hoppers 27 redstone 25 observers 10 redstone torches 13 droppers 1 comparator 2 redstone rails 1 redstone lamp 1 leaver 1 sticky piston 1 target block 8 redstone repeater's 6 glass

Well... one of the tweaks I've made is using 5 repeaters. (Also technically, just for disambiguation, about 5 of those entries, including that, are for the clock rather than the slices.)

My items are stopping in the first dropper. What would be causing this??

Java? Something about the torch not being able to be turned off by observer. Not seen any followup comments/fixes yet 😕

@prowl8413 if i am making this in a U shape, with 3 segments, (2) 15 blocks wide, and the short side 12... do I need to create the observer torch tower for each, or can I continue the signal on with reapeaters?

In kinda scared using redstone, but I've made a few simple ones using redstone components. I've got a composter being fed seeds etc, but most items seems to get wasted, fed too fast, so I got to think that I just had to add a clock to slow the feeding down by a certain amount of ticks, right? The only other redstone things I've dated building is sugar cane, bamboo, melon and pumpkin farms, by following guides very strictly, not really understanding how my contraptions actually worked. Eventually I'll be comfortable building something like this.

How do you get the green arrows in the hoppers? I have the one from vanilla tweaks but they only light up red when locked . Is there a different version you use?

Finally finished this gargantuan build! But must have made a mistake somewhere as top 2 rows of chests not filling up! 🤨

I assume that items should fill up the top left chest first if you don't fill them with items. For some reason my system fills the leftmost row simultaniously, items are skipping chests, i already have one repeater set to max tick. Im playing on a realm on PS5. any suggestions? Update: Now it started filling the two left topmost blocks for some reason, skipping the every other chest in the leftmost row.

I’ve tried to build this in survival and creative and I seem to run into the same problem. For some reason my hopper leading into my chests on my 3rd row seem to be locking and not transitioning items to the hopper below it. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
