It’s works perfectly and can be extended (on bedrock) if it’s in a room I think a nice u shape would be best and the input chest can be switched to be either right of left side just change the way the hoppers go and then you can make it have a better layout for wherever you want to input the items from

You have to put a dropper instead of the chest at the end wit a lava source to discard any armor or bows

Try rewatching the tutorial, I'm on mobile and it works for me, so it might be that you misplaced a block or piece of redstone

So i have this design coming out of a zombie pigman/gold farm. I have separated the sorting so there is a space in between each item i want to sort. at the end i continued the hopper chain to a few blast furnaces to melt swords automatically. I keep getting random items getting through to the furnaces. any idea whats going on or if i should us a different sorter before this one to filter out the swords instean of after

I had that same problem with my gold farm I think it’s because the hopper had 64 items in it, so it couldn’t hold any more.

after a couple of weeks of observing it, it seems like when a sword was in the first spot over a sorter and another item when over it then the second item wouldn't get sorted. i tried splitting up the sorters to see if that helped and it didn't. i ended up putting a sorter for not stacking items where the furnaces. just basically make the same exact sorter but up one block to do so and it works fine. not more random items in my furnaces.@@KingCube900

It probably is because it's a gold farm so it generates more than the hoppers can handle so I suggest you should do a design that is for more items or just place more hoppers

Why do I need to put 41 of a certain item in there? Why not 13 or 64? Whats with the number?

I think it is related to signal strength. In item sorters, the hoppers are locked due to redstone signal. When a certain amount of items are in the hoppers connected to redstone, they given output signal, turning off the original redstone signal and thus unlocking the hoppers and letting items pass through. Once a certain amount of them goes into lowest chest (1 item, so they are back to not having enough strength), the signal stops and redstone turns on, locking yhe hoppers again. You know how - × - = +? In this case, redstone signal is negative. The redstone signal from hopper × redstone torch = Deactivated torch and that is how how the sorters work

You can do this with 44 named blocks (spread over the last 4 slots) and one item instead of wasting 41 items

items are just adding to the 41 ands not going down, ive only done 2 rows so it may be that but i dont think it is edit:nvm figured out problem. Didnt have both rows of restone above comparators

Overflow Issue- If the entire chest fills up, as well as the first hopper, the upper sorting hoppers in the area breaks, creating an eventual chain reaction if not constantly monitored. Is there any way to fix this issue?

Was wondering if anyone ran into a problem where the some of the items meant to be sorted get put into the output chest? I have the output chest linked to an auto smelter to smelt the ores but sometimes I’ll see diamonds end up in their i have to manually take them out to make sure the smelter is working

i think it can because the glass blocks are placed there because they're considered as a transparent block which means it cannot be powered and leaves are also considered as transparent blocks so it should work.

You could just let them go through your output chest into either an auto smelter (Depending on the amount of swords that come through, you might need a double chest there and multiple furnaces. Also, make sure you always have enough fuel, otherwise the system gets clogged) or a dropper that automatically throws them into lava. Or both, with the lava dropper as a failsafe if you know what you're doing.

Its something to do with output strength. It works the same for 1 item of your choice then 44 others. Eg 1, 41, 1, 1, 1 The numbers representing the amount of items

If you make a raid farm sorting system use the output chest as your totem of undying chest. Since totem's can't be stacked.

Hey, can’t help but notice you said it works fine. I’m trying to do this in a skeleton spawner to sort bones and arrows and then the rest into the output chest. However the first hopper with 41 items fills to 64 and then sends the rest into the output chest instead of their sorted chests. I followed the video perfectly and don’t understand what’s wrong
