I’m a 74 year old woman. I had a right comminuted proximal humerus break in August 2023 and a left mildly comminuted humerus break in August 2024. I have been working with you since the break in 2023 and even though the doctor said I might never get back full motion, because the right break was also displaced 1cm, I was able to get 99% use . Thank you for your help with that. I am on week 6 with the left humerus break and working with you on KZbin. I feel like I am progressing well and hope to get full use of this arm in the end. Thank you for providing videos we can follow at our own pace throughout the healing process and for your inspiring talks throughout 💕

Thank you for posting this, I am a 62 year old woman living alone (uk) and in a traffic accident came off my bike at full force on my arm and have a proximal humerus fracture non displaced. I am 4 weeks in and yesterday went to hospital for physio. The young lad got me doing stretches that were hurting, and I have been in chronic pain since 😢. This has depressed me so much, as I was just starting to get into a comfortable position in bed to get a few hours sleep. I feel like any progress I had made has been ruined.

I'm so happy I found you. It's been an interesting journey, I fractured my Humerus whilst on holiday in Nepal and had an operation to insert a titanium plate. Never thought I would see the inside of a hospital in Kathmandu. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the staff were amazing. As I was not in the system here in the UK it took quite a while for the health service to kick in. In the meantime I started doing your exercises and enjoying your videos. I love the support, and I love your little jokes, and yes we're all little elephants roaming through the jungle. I now have a physiotherapist and they're very happy for me to continue using your videos for my full recovery journey. Thank you

Thank you again! I follow your videos starting late April. I had shoulder dislocation and displaced humerus fracture on March, 10. I've stared doing your phases 1 and 2 videos after 6 weeks of the strict immobilization. When I was finally released from the sling on May, 11, I started phase 4 video, my favorite one. I added phase 3 in the beginning of June. On June, 13, my physician have tested me, and he was very surprized to find that I performed 30-40% ahead of othe patients with similar traumas. I am progressing, and I am doing phase V now. I love the eccentric deltoid lift - it feels like the muscle is getting alive:) Thank you so much!

I cannot express adequately enough, how grateful I am for your videos...(70 yrs old). Thank the good Lord, I came across them two weeks after my accident... I suffered a dislocated arm and fractured humerus, walking a dog that ran after a cat! I fell flat on the road and I immediately knew that the arm had been dislocated. After X-rays, the fracture was discovered. I have been in a brace totally immobilised for too long. At the beginning of this week, the brace was discarded! Yay! and I was told to do physio. In the meantime I had already started with your videos... the hand and wrist exercises specifically, which gave me a good head start. Initially, even with the physio, I was full of fear and would habitually keep my arm flat against the front of my body. Difficult habit to break! I still do it. Your videos are so gentle, the pace just right and my flexibility is improving daily! SO grateful! 🙏 Just started phase 5.

Hello! Thank you SO MUCH for these awesome exercises. I came upon them while researching online PT. I have a comminuted proximal humerus fracture that happened Feb. 6th while doing laps, ice skating indoors. No snow this year so no cross country skiing. I switched to lap skating and caught the toe picks on brand new blades on ice and had a mighty lurch onto outstretched arms and left shoulder. I started doing PT at the hospital but find your versions much more inspiring and fun. Thanks to you! Have never experienced this kind of pain or set back so you are so good to find. Good luck out there to all of us healing. Keep going. Motion is lotion as Dr. Adam Fields says! (Note to lap skaters. Get speed skates or hockey skates. Skip the figure skates!).

Thanks so much! I like the faster speeds but applied lightly. That makes it so the gun is less likely to jump around on me but get a feel for what works for you. Start on the perimeter and slowly work toward the injured area as you can tolerate.

If you've had a interim x-ray that showed some progress with new bone growth, proceed. I have a little trepidation with your age and not knowing if you have osteoporosis but, if you decide to go forward, do the exercises slowly and with caution. I can't give you a 100% either way without getting my hands on it. Non Unions can be common. Just go to a radiology clinic and pay out of pocket for a single x-ray. It'll be cheap and you'll get the peace. Don't wait the 10 weeks

I'm doing your videos the shoulder doesn't seem as bad as the elbow now i do tend to have a little bit different curved arms and maybe that's why the elbow is so painful but my question to you is do you have any videos specifically to unlock this elbow right now. My professional PT starts February 7th next week but I'm doing your stuff daily I love your whole demeanor I love your series thank you so much for doing these. Again my elbow seems worse than my shoulder right now I have a closed broken right humerus fracture which has not moved and healing. So if you have anything for the elbow please let me know I cannot get it unlocked

I have no doubt I'd be able to do these exercises, but I'm convinced that my shoulder is out of it's socket. It's very frustrating because I'm now seven weeks out from my ORIF surgery and have only met with my surgeon once post-op (last week). He said that the bone had resolved but it clearly hasn't. I really want to avoid another surgery. But I don't meet with my doctor again for another two months and worry that if I continue with it in this condition for that long it will cause serious damage. Would it be worth seeing a chiropractor?

I would get a current x-ray and see a sports focused chiropractor. Even better if they have ESWT.

I understand the movement is medication concept. However my issue was caused by overuse and repetitive movements, sanding and painting. So I’ve been afraid to do to many repetitive movements. Can you shed some light on this contradiction. 🤔 Thank you! 😊
@dradamfields Жыл бұрын
Hi, Your movement was not balanced and like you said (very) repetitive. When the scapula (wing bone) elevates, and is there for hours/day, the mechanics of the entire shoulder girdle become destructive over time. Check out my shoulder stabilization videos (playlists). You will learn experientially how your mechanics can be restored. If you need to delve even further, let's do a telehealth call. fieldsfamilychiro.janeapp.com/locations/telehealth/book#staff_member/1

Fractured humorous didn't tell me I needed surgery for 10 days had to have plate and screws surgeons notes said he had to remove callus formation so I had callus in 10 days but at 6 weeks with plate nothing I am so scared it's not healing it was a spiral displaced humerus fracture near elbow. 7 weeks out can't use walker or do pt why is this happening
@dradamfields Жыл бұрын
Hang in there, Katherine. Just do what your shoulder allows you to do. If you have to go back to a previous video, that is okay. Get another x-ray to make sure the bone is healing. This will give you some confidence to move forward.

@@dradamfields it's not my shoulder which has had surgery before and sub scap had atrophied so it's not in optimal shape. Surgeon won't see me for 6 weeks I agree it should be x-rayed before that. 2 mo out from surgery still painful and no callus formation . How much can you not do

After a shoulder fracture, how many weeks should a person wait before they can drive again?
@kellyw5304 Жыл бұрын
My doctor released me at week 4 said I can take sling off. But my car still in shop nothing drive. I’d ask your doctor for sure. Friday 15th I’ll be at week 6.

Thanks so much for these videos-I found them by accident (no pun intended 😂). I’m in the UK. Every healthcare provider I’ve seen here has talked about the pain during recovery , the long rehab and being prepared to not regain enough movement to return to preaccident activities. Your positivity and side comments are so encouraging and your videos with their soundtrack are so much more inspiring than the exercise sheet I was given after my X-ray. I can’t thank you enough and already feel more optimistic about the next few months (week 6 post accident, day 2 using videos!)
