Your video is spot on with advice. I had proximal humerus fracture. First xray on the injury day . Collar and cuff on and natural healing . Second xray 2 weeks later to check alignment and started gentle pendulum swings at home. Third xray 4 weeks later and started physio and home exercises. Each further visit to physio more exercises added on . Signed off from physio and continued exercises myself . I have good rom now . In the beginning it's very debilitating and can get you down . Pain was bad . Physio is your best friend in this injury . I'm 66 and have a bone scan to go to . Hopefully all is well with my bones .

How's it going now? I had this injury for the same reason about 3.5 weeks ago. Doing conservative treatment without surgery, just wearing a sling. Still hurts a lot especially trying to sleep.

Unfortunately i was one of those i had to have surgery.. totally displaced. Plate and 14 screws. Arm in sling for 6 weeks- even for sleeping.. awful. Got Totally got claustrophobic.. lol.. and had to sleep on my back.. awful actually

Is it common to not give pain medication during the acute phase anymore? My husband had a bad bicycle accident and was thrown over a guard rail and down 4 feet fracturing his proximal humeral in 3 pieces. ER gave him 2 days worth of pain meds and ortho won't give him anything except ibuprofen. My husband has had 2 other surgeries and has never asked for a refill or even finished the pain meds he had so they have a record he doesn't abuse them. Just inhumane the way he is being treated so we are seeing a new doc Monday. I now feel more comfortable though about them not wanting to do surgery. He is a very active 73 year old and rides his bike about 24 miles a day so is very fit.
