The sound you're able to pull out of those single-coils is just...perfect. Great demo.
@thedevilinthecircuit1414 Жыл бұрын
The bottom tone control, when pulled, does not split the humbucker. It switches the coils from series to parallel. Parallel mode retains noise-canceling properties of the dual coil. Splitting the coils does not.
@bryanh3057Ай бұрын
Exactly right. Coil splitting also causes a loss in the low end. I think it’s super common for people to assume that push-pull pots automatically means coil splitting. lol

A neat sounding offering from PRS. I just wish that I'd be able to find a PRS model that feels familiar to me and comfortable enough to justify getting one. I've handled and played many: They're really great, and the construction and tone palettes on the ones that I've played were great, they just don't feel that great in my hands.

Honestly they do offer a pretty wide variety of necks, I think the trick is people who arent PRS players have played non-PRS guitars for so long you truly need a week to get used to whats new to you. That being said it also could just not be your thing, but after time, I found I enjoy their necks more than most.

Yes!! So I normally play through a 100 watt Fireball. I had to leave the lead channel and go to the clean channel, crank the gain up to 10, stomp on my chorus and OCD pedal and it was close enough. I'v since sold that guitar though (gotta keep on the search for the ultimate axe) but it was a great guitar.

This vid is entitled “Demo and Review,” and RJ promises to make review comments early on. However, there i# NO REVIEW WHATSOEVER, even in the links. So this was largely a waste of time (although RJ’s playin* was masterful as ever). Hey RJ: here are son3 suggestions for improving your videos: 1). Tell us what you’re playing through (amps, etc, 2) and If there are any pedals or processors in the chain 3) put text on screen which states what pickups you’re on 4) tell us when you’re playing a crutch, OD, o4 distortion tone, preferably with onscreen texts 5) please provide reviews ew comments. But, in all, you’re the best. Love your jams and the tones you achieve.

Is the humbucker “split” with the lower Push-pull pot or taken “out of phase”? My understanding from the PRS introduction video was “out of phase”.
@thedevilinthecircuit1414 Жыл бұрын
No, the pull-pot places the coils in parallel. Most all dual-coil humbuckers are wired in series. Pulling the bottom pot up changes the pickup's operation from series to parallel. Unlike a split, parallel operation provides a single-coil tone but retains the noise-canceling properties of a dual-coil pickup.

I think the one issue I have with this model is that for many players, including myself, it checks all the boxes, but they made it look too 80's. I get that it's a signature model but all I can think about is Music Man/Steve Lukather. At times, I do like the red or white models but that bleached looking fretboard is just a no go for me. I really hope this model becomes a success and they decide to add more colours and/or a rosewood/roasted maple fretboard.
