I changed all the preamp tubes to 6N2P’s and an RCA 12AT7 for the phase inverter and man the cleans are lush and the gain is full and tight. Thanks for the video!

I smiled when I saw you going "Californian Punk Rock" I guess we never get old ;-) I am about to receive that amp and I'm also playing Punk Rock style music.

The nos 5751 are always obtainable on the market, and as we don't need paired set here you can find cheap one from the 70's! I always put them in the 1st stage of clean and dirt channels as it makes the most drastic changes in tone... For the power section I use nos 70's 6P3S-e, it's dirt cheap and make a wonderful work!!

Great video. It would be cool to see a comparison between your choice of tubes and all 12AX7s with your Les Paul, Strat, and Tele and some heavier rock/metal mixed in.

Very helpful video. Thanks! I'm also primarily a punk/indie player but I do like to get into metal territory and I've been looking at the MT15. I like what you've done with the tube swaps. I also think the amp looks way cooler with the cage OFF!
@digitalreign74852 жыл бұрын
Agreed it does look cool with the cage off. I have thought about adding some accent paint to the cage to make it stand out a bit. But haven’t convinced myself that it is a great idea yet. HA Cheers!

@@digitalreign7485 Do those red tri-mountain things unscrew from the sides of the cage? I was thinking it'd be cool to remove those and paint them. Either black to make them blend in, or just another color entirely.
@digitalreign74852 жыл бұрын
@@KipCount They sure appear too. Looks like two screws on each side. Would be easy to remove and paint.

Hey! I really love this tones. I'm gonna change tubes as you, and i have a question. I know nothing about tubes and everything around that so what about bias? Can i just change tubes or should i go to amp magician and also setup bias?
@digitalreign74852 жыл бұрын
Bias is all about voltage to the power tubes. You are adjusting the plate voltage to them when you do a bias adjustment. If you change the power tubes to a very similar type 6L6 you shouldn't have to worry about it. If you change to a different style power tubes you would need to research proper plate voltage for optimum performance or take it to the amp magician and have him perform wizardry on it. If you are just changing out preamp tubes you need not worry about the bias. Cheers!

in your other video, you used 12at7 not 5751
@digitalreign74853 жыл бұрын
Hey Martin. That is true. I changed the third gain stage tube in my latest video to be a 12at7 instead of a 5751. So I’m reducing the gain like so: 12ax7, 5751 then to a 12at7. I’m happy with the results. Cheers!
