The SE NF3 is an SE version of an earlier core model NF3 which was produced from 2011-2013 and was the first to feature the narrowfield pickups. The NF pickups have also been used on other models like the middle pickup of the Super Eagle. While many are comparing the body to the Silver Sky, the NF3 body style proceeds the Silver Sky by around 7 years.

The first NF3 was the second to get Narrowfields. The first was the Swamp Ash Special in 2010. They had the same look as the classic PRS's but featured a bolt on maple neck, swamp ash body, and 3 of these pickups. Cool guitars.

Hi. Thank you for the video. I'm brazilian and I'm going to US em next month. I have so many doubts about which Guitar I'll buy and that video was very clarifying to me, but I steel need choose between: PRS NF3, PRS Silver Sky, D'angelico Brighton or D'angelico Atlantic. Which option do you recomend me? :)
@mr.sorenzo
@mr.sorenzo 15 күн бұрын
@@leandromachado3137 Oi Leandro! Meu parceira é do Brasil! Aproveite sua viagem nos EUA😊 It depends on what you like in both sound and feel of the guitar. The best option is to actually play all 4 and seeing what you like best in both feel and sound. Is that Premier D’Angelicos and SE PRS guitars? If so, bear in mind that both Premier Atlantic and Brighton have the Seymour Duncan designed HB pickups. So they will sound very similar. If you want to choose between either of the two, the differences are in the physical aspects such as the looks and the weight of the guitar. All 4 have single coil options but silver sky has only single coils. The PRS ones come with floating bridges, the D’angelicos have fixed bridges. The PRS have a more modern look, D’Angelicos look more vintage. If you want a more old school sound and look, the Brighton is the best option. Looks vintage and the pickups seem have a lot of mid. If you want a strat sound and feel, go with the Silver sky because of single coils and bolt on neck. You get a nice twang out of silver skys. NF3 is probably the best of the four in terms of versatility and playing different genres. Partially because of the tightness in the narrowfield pickups. You won’t lose articulation at high gain/distortion while it still provides enough of low range frequencies. For me being a variety player who also plays rock and metal, I’d go with NF3. What kind of music do you like to play and listen to?
@tweedcouch
@tweedcouch Ай бұрын
The American made Narrowfield pickups were first introduced in the core model Swamp Ash Special NF back in 2010. They discontinued the model in 2012. These pickups were also in the original core model NF3 as well as the core model Studio and the Modern Eagle 3 (most starting around 2012). You can also find it as a middle pickup of the Super Eagle (John Mayers Dead guitar) and the special 22. All of these predate the Myles Kennedy and NF53.

This is a story, of a guitar named after a pickup, That a poor man, cannot afford. And then one day, he was a shreddin' and realised the pickups were garbage. Well the first thing to know, ol' Paul reed is a millionaire. And to get there he saved a dollar or two.

0:45 WRONG! Maybe you’re too young and haven’t study PRS history, but PRS already released bolt-on (strat) guitars in the past such the NF3, DC3, EG3, Brent Mason, etc… (not even mentioning the CE line). All of the mentioned here were released BEFORE the SilverSky and Fiore. That’s why the SE NF3 isn’t a baby-SS, but simply a rebirth of the NF3.

@Spidouz
@Spidouz Ай бұрын
@@mr.sorenzoYEAH, that’s what I thought… also, PRS were not really famous for their first bolt-on “Strat” models, you can only know if you study their history, or if you lived it. The Brent Mason was only available for 2 years, and I don’t think the first NF3/DC3 last very long either. I remember that I wanted a DC3, by the time I could save the money, they were not available anymore… and I got a Brent Mason (very nice model too since the scale is neither 25” or 25”½ but 25”¼… that’s also why I want to add a SilverSky (25”½) and a SE NF3 (25”) to my (small) collection, so I could cover different tones we can get from those specs. And to reply to your question, yes the specs were great; I think the SE NF3 will find its place as a fatter, darker, smoother Strat, while the SE SS will keep being the best ‘63/64 Strat you get at this price point, with a brighter, snappier and twangier tone. At least that’s what I get from the videos of the SE NF3 I’ve seen so far… Noiseless Pickups and 10” radius are the TWO main specs I wanted the SilverSky to have… so I’m pretty positive I will get the SE NF3 Maple in Metallic Orange. The only question is before or after the Silver Sky? They’re both on my wishlist :)

9:45 Paul did a video (I can’t remember which one) where he explains why he prefers nickel to stainless steel. If I recall correctly, it comes to the fact that the Stainless steel is too strong and it affects the tone… or something like that. I honestly have no idea, I’m not an expert, but I recall that his explanation was more detailed and made sense to me at the time I watched it… it was a Q&A during a clinic video. I saw it like 2 years ago, maybe even more (during the pandemic, hard to remember dates)
