John Mayer shows restraint because he serves the song, but behind that restraint, much like Clapton, is an absolute guitar God, a shredder, a monster, he can make it sing, and play like the blues artists who came before him. He isn't my personal favorite, but his talent and devotion to guitar is undeniable. Making PRS cry is proof Mayer is a legend. All that said, his riff at the beginning landing on a certain note had such a tonal quality to it it made my head turn every time! His subtle mastery is what is really amazing. I've been playing 20 years, and I've seen all kinds of guitarists, but John hit me like truck by playing one little note with amazing tone and technique, and you can't teach that anywhere. Starting guitar you always have these issues playing notes, fret buzz, muted notes all kinds of accidents that ruin a tone, but John's guitar is like an extension of himself. I know he said there are other guitar players better than him out there, but what he knows about guitar shouldnt matter if someone is better than him, because he's the Best.

So well put and beautifully said. He's also one of the most deferential musicians in light of how gifted and blessed he truly is. He's a genuine gift to us all!!

Huge JM fan here as well… But if I'm being honest, he hit some clams in that solo. Shoot, I'd be nervous too in a room full of guitar players. 😅

Congrats to Paul and all the people at PRS! I get emotional when I see Paul with hair all gray. Can’t help but to think one day he’s not gonna be here anymore. Kinda reminds me of Steve Jobs and Apple. I’m sure the company will continue to strive and carry on, but the genius behind all the magic won’t be there one day. To Paul, I wish you longevity, health and happiness! To PRS, you deserve all the praise and success! Keep going, keep innovating, never stop.

@@JudgeFredd Really? Where and when? Guess he hasn't listened to enough Greg Koch, and does he really think Clapton is better than someone like John McLaughlin or Leo Kottke?
@Cmusic2345612 сағат бұрын
@@GCKellochoh no dude, don’t get stuck in those thoughts. People like different things. It’s okay if John Mayer likes what he likes. And you can disagree. That’s why life is so cool to me. We all have an opinion. Taste is an individual choice based on your experience of life! if you want to choose to be judgmental about at it, and makes you happy living your life that way, then I think that’s okay too! I think it’s great you’re so passionate about it. It’s just it seems like you’re in the wrong place if you’re making this comment. I Hope you have a great day! :)

That momentum they got from that move really started this catapult over the last 5 or so years where prs has just taken over.
