These tips are all great. Never thought about moving the weight up as the cord is made longer. That's an aha moment!

Thanks Pru for this great video. May I ask where you get your 50gm weights from. I’ve seen 90 and 45 but not many 50gm. Your weight looks lovely. I’ve seen some weights with just hooks on either end, how would I attach one of these. Much prefer the idea of a clip on weight. Thank you.

45g is fine. The precise weight is not an issue.

I've just started beaded kumihimo and I've been getting twists and some of it sunken in. Think my weight is too heavy but also how I'm doing it. Thank you Pru your videos are brilliant and I can't wait to restart my beaded braid fresh and see it work (hopefully)!

I will have to remember to rest my braid on a mug when I know I wouldn't be able to get back to it right away. I do a lot of 30 to 34 inch necklaces. Thanks for the tips and thanks for sharing your talent with us!

A mug, vase or something like that will do the job!

I didn’t know that setting the disk on a vase helped keep the tension but I’ve always done that just because it seemed a tidier way to leave it. I just didn’t like seeing it all crumpled up on a surface. I really learn a lot from your videos.

Sometimes as I’m going along I realize that I’ve gotten the cords wound up so from time to time When I take each cord out of it’s slot, I let it go so that it can unwind before I place it into the next slot.

In this video I explain my top 5 tips for achieving good tension in your braiding. Observing these tips really makes a difference to your braiding. What tips would you add to the list?

Love the idea of resting work on a mug, I must admit it was not something I had thought of. I also think that keeping the same humidity will help for a consistent braid, I found this out the hard way by taking a half finished braid out with me to finish of at my destination but you could see the difference in the braiding so had to undo it :(

Can we use cardboard for kumihimo disk? i cannot buy here on our place... by the way, i just started loving kumihimo, and your channel is the reason why i learn it fast!😆 Keep up the good video and arts!😉

It is great to hear that you are enjoying my videos. Yes you can try making a disk out of cardboard, but the slots can’t grip the cord very well, so you won’t get good tension and it doesn’t work for beaded kumihimo. Cardboard disks are great if you want to teach a group of children the basic moves with something like knitting yarn. They will love it and if any of them want to take it further they will need a foam disk.
