Yes your peach trees are far bigger as I watch last year's peach trees , gave you the Felco 2 advices and more. This Lebanese village is full of peach trees in every garden. I added 4 varieties this past 2024. Buds are waiting till March.

My mom used to dump her peach peelings and seeds under a big fig tree. She planted some of the seedlings and one tree produced such amazing fruit that some students from LSU took cuttings and seeds to use in their breeding/research program.

Glad you enjoy these and find them useful. Of all the content we put out there, pruning is by far the one we get the most feedback on!

Thanks for the video and recommendations last week. Got everything pruned and the desert delight has 8 flowers. Fingers crossed we stay out of the frost zone for the next two months.

Didn’t realize you could turn one main branch into two when creating scaffolding. That’s good news as one of my new trees only has three good branches I want to keep due to shading issues and angles.
@EdgeofNowhereFarm19 күн бұрын
Sure can. It happens every once in a while when the tree just refuses to put a branch on one of those sides. It's most critical for us on the West side of the tree, so it happens there more often.

There is SO much detail in pruning. I can't imagine doing that with ONE tree, let alone dozens. You two are like a machine!
@EdgeofNowhereFarm21 күн бұрын
It is definitely a solid task for us to keep up with it all this time of year!

Pruning, fruit thinning and for me--peach leaf curl are the primary labor inputs. I typically must remove some 80% of small peaches, commercially they shake the tree carefully, will try that to save ton of time thinning. I tolerate birds wrecking 20% of fruit as I can't stand the appearance of nets in my yard. Birds and rodents are signs of lead deficiency. 😄

Hello, my name is Elnur. Good day. I greet you from Azerbaijan. It would be better if your next post is about banana trees and citrus trees. How do they grow in winter?
@EdgeofNowhereFarm21 күн бұрын
Wow, hello from the US! We have a couple of citrus videos we'll be posting once we get through pruning season. There isn't much to say about the banana. It's barely surviving our freezing weather and after 3 years has yet to even put on a flower.

I have worked with both Corona and Felco and what I like most is that there are replacement parts for everything that could break or wear down. Buying the cheaper ones that can't be serviced, is wasteful both jn terms of money and of resources.
@EdgeofNowhereFarm20 күн бұрын
I hear ya, those cheap ones are just a waste of money!

Thank you for this! What kind of bird netting do you use?
@EdgeofNowhereFarm7 күн бұрын
We haven't purchased it in a few years, but it's a cheap 1/2" bird netting that we found on Amazon.

Theo: Just a little off the top, man. Not gonna do a lot this year as I want better growth. Had to strip all the leaves off the FP peach and almond. Dorset apple and calamondin orange are still in bloom from last summer! there are oranges on the cal.

@@EdgeofNowhereFarm I actually use non-lead pellets, brass, zinc or whatever, very apposed to spreading lead across the landscape, and don't shoot much anyway. But that was a joke I learned from David the Good's channel and it's a good one.
