In case you were unaware, the "range" prusaslicer uses to determine minimum/maximum layer heights is determined in the "machine settings" menu. I like to set the maximum height around 80% of the nozzle diameter and the minimum around 0.1, then once applied, set the "smooth" slider to 10 and hit smooth button repeatedly until you do not see any thick banding transitions - this gives very smooth surfaces with no noticeable transition areas.

It's a perfect function for functional things, maybe with high walls and a radius at the end. Printing with 0,3mm the contur and with 0,1 the radius

Wow this is very informative!! I didn't realise there was such settings on Prusa slicer at all! And it's my go to slicer lately! I just keep finding more reasons to like it. I'm always trying to find a way to reduce print time without loss of quality or heading for a print fail!( Because I hate the long waits) I'm so trying this next...thanks dude!

Right? It's definitely a useful feature, but I think it probably isn't used as much as it should be. Definitely great for cutting on down on print times without reducing quality; I'm a fan!

FYI, you can also do manual layer height adjustments. To get to this right click on the model name in the right plane and select "Height ranger Modifier". It's of course more work, but might need it here or there

Nice video man!! Great sound quality! Could you make a video about the ironing that they want to put in prusaslicer?

Hey, that's a great idea! I'm also really excited about the monotonous infill, definitely helpful for enclosures with through holes!

An interesting video, and sure to be useful. What I hate is when people go "we are going to use the variable layer height tool" but don't tell you how to access it! This is infinitely frustrating to people who are new to PrusaSlicer. For something that will take a whopping 0.5seconds to point out, please be sure to add in such details in the future.

You’re totally right! I thought I had made it clear, but I obviously didn’t. Sorry about that! You should be able to find the setting on the top menu bar, and that should get you going!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!! And thank God for letting me see this video. Cause im few months into priting and i got slicing program with my creality 3 ender pro. But the slice program takes looong to print but quality is 10 out of 10. So i started using prusa which prints faster even without me changing settings. And a few prints i have that layer issue towards top. So after printing my one object which is 8 out of 10 from prusa slicer. I printed the object from creality slicer and 10 out of 10 but longer time. Perfect layers so i new from comparing the 2 prints i had a setting issue.

Much appreciated! I wanted to see some real-world examples of this feature and couldn't find a whole lot, so I figured I'd make it myself!

Hey Andrew, interesting to see the variances here, thanks for showing those. Of course, my favorite is the one that took over 5 hours, but the others look nice as well, especially since they're 🐈 🐈 🐈. Great job on the video, as well. Maybe Virginia can have a cameo in one of your videos 😊

This tool seems to be greyed out. I’m using Prusaslicer 2.5.0. MacBook Pro. From what I understand, I should be able to select the model in the Plater view and the icon should be selectable?
@AndrewSink2 жыл бұрын
Huh, that’s a new one for me. Did you get it working?

Red might not be the best color for showcasing details because it compresses worse.

That's a good point! Maybe a darker color, like purple or black?

Why not just print at 0.2? That would get you the same time and would remove the visual fluxuations which the eye is very good at detecting. Seems like an obvious test case to include in this video.
