That's what I've been saying there are tons of old games still out there I've skipped over a lot of games every console generation I think it's stupid to skip over those games just to by the new console so I went back to my ps3 I don't care for graphics that much just play good games there are tons of people still gaming on ps3 to this day

Find it funny that PS3 not only has over 1mil players still playing but its making a resurgence in popularity especially cause of how expensive modern consoles are getting while simultaneously managing to be less personalizable than the generation that came before it

@@darkungels1274 I play Battlefield 3 almost daily. You never have trouble finding a active server, and the competition is very good, most of the players are level 100 and have been playing since 2011. Its especially satisfying to be the top player in a server full of seasoned pros.

Thanks for your video! An upside to the Super Slim: there is no risk of the disk getting stuck in the system if there is problem with the disk ejection mechanism. However, the Fat and the Slim are more beautiful. I have a backwards compat Fat and a Super Slim. But first PS3 was a Slim, but it retired itself.

You´re welcome! I do like the slim and it looks pretty good in my living room, but since I had to rank them and when it comes to overall features the other models did perform a bit better. I hope you did send your first PS3 slim to a nice retirement home! ;)

@@GamingKick My friend just gave me his Super Slim since he'd had it for years and was moving on. Didn't even know which model PS3 he had until I opened the shipping box he sent it to me in. However, after doing some research, I'm kind of glad it's the Super Slim. While it's the least attractive of the bunch, it also seems to be the most reliable, and the first and second generation consoles appear to be the ones with the most issues, especially the first gen. While I would have been happy with any of them (since he gave it to me for free), I'm actually happy to have gotten the Super Slim.

Great video. I have had the original ps3 fat 60gb and sadly trying to diy fix the thermal paste overheating issue ruined the console. I got a slim to replace it and swapped out the internal drive for a 1tb hdd. It's still a great console, very similar to the ps2 and i am still collecting games for the ps3 to this day. So many hidden gems to add to the collection. The games are now very affordable too and so you can just keep growing your collection without breaking the bank.

FWIW I think the Super Slim gets a bad rap. It's much quieter than my previous Slim. The sliding disk tray isn't all that different from the flip up hatch on my PS2 Slim sitting right next to it. The tray loading motors in the Slim are mechanical and will eventually break. The slide tray has no such worries. Also if you're looking for good Move games check out House of the Dead Overkill. It's up your alley!

I do like the Super Slim! I think it got a bad rep because Playstation went a bit cheap with the 12 Gigs model and the somewhat cheaper look compared to the previous models. Overall and for under a 100 bucks it´s an absolute steal of a console and as you said the fan is super silent too. Did play House Of The Dead Overkill and had a blast with it! Any other recommendations!? Always down for some PS Move action!

@@GamingKick besides Overkill, there are two House of the Dead arcade ports on PSN, HOD 3&4 I think. Also if you remember Rez on Dreamcast/PS2 same guy did Child of Eden which works great with Move. It's a cheap game over here at least.

Well, I fired mine up last night in a long time, ran a firmware update so I can get online with it and now I'm stuck in the dreaded firmware update loop I can't break. All signs point to a faulty bluetooth / wifi controller chip that cannot be replaced without some serious tech on hand an know how. Now I have a PS3 paperweight that was working fine before doing their forced firmware updates. F Sony for writing their software in a way where you cannot do a simple rollback due to update issues.

The playstation 3 is without a doubt the absolute best games console ever built especially the backwards compatible version it is an absolute masterpiece the design is still the best to this day. Ps3 has the absolute best games library ever the Devs were so much better back in the ps3 days we have a library that has something for everyone..

I purchased a Frankenstein backwards compatible PS3 so that I can relive those days again and again probably be playing PS3 for years to come I'm building a great collection I have around 500 plus games my PS5 doesn't get a look in this gens games are just boring follow ons of the PS3 gen the worst thing about PS5 is that PS3 is more entertaining and no sign of any woke SHITE lol 🤣

@@baz7918 Couldn´t have said it better! Playing on the PS3 is straight forward and you can have a blast without thinking twice or wasting your time. I do like some modern games but you have to look twice, wait for "real" reviews, patches and other stuff and go out of your way to find the good games. Live is easier when you play on the ps3.

The Playstation 3 and the PSP are the only Sony consoles I haven't owned at one point. I currently have a PS5, a Vita, and a Vita TV. But my best friend has had a PS3 for years and he decided a couple of weeks ago that he'd had it long enough and was going to donate it to his local Goodwill store. Seeing that I've never owned the system, I said I'd go ahead and take it off his hand if he didn't want it. I didn't even know what model he had until it arrived (since we live in different states and only see each other in person once in a blue moon). He ended up sending me a Super Slim (with a 500 GB hard drive) and a wired 3rd party controller. Even though he keeps his systems in great shape, I immediately tore it down to give it a deep cleaning/dusting, replaced the CMOS battery, and put on new thermal paste. I also put in a new hard drive, a 1TB SSD, and ordered two official Dualshock 3 controllers and a charging stand. I also ordered an official Sony vertical stand for the PS3 (overpriced nowadays, but I really love the quality). I've also been buying a ton of games for it - currently have 35 physical games (3 are still in transit to me), and 2 digital. The only one I've had a chance to start playing is Heavenly Sword, but I've been having a great time with it and highly recommend it to fans of the genre. I've also got a new 3rd party controller on the way as I find the Dualshock 3s a little too small and light for my taste. Ordered the Retrofighters Defender Bluetooth edition, which is supposed to have full feature parity with the PS3, including backwards compatibility with the PS1 and PS2 games, rumble, and sixaxis functionality, and it can even turn on the system with its PS button. It's had a lot of great reviews so I'm hoping it's a little more comfortable for me than the OEM Sony controllers. So far I'm having a blast with the PS3, and I'm glad I was able to get in on it now before some of the physical game disc prices get too crazy. While the majority of titles you can get pretty inexpensively, there are some that are really getting up there in price.

Seems like you are already pretty well off with 35 PS3 games. Good start for a new collection. Had no clue that there are 3rd party controllers that can work with PS2 backwards compatibility! Have to look into that, since the first party ones are going to be off the market one day. Glad you are having a good time with your PS3. It's one of the best consoles for sure and now is a great time to start collecting.

​@@GamingKickYeah, I've got high hopes for the controller. Just make sure you look at the Defender Bluetooth, as the standard Defender doesn't have all the features to my understanding.

Personally I think the PS3 dual shock pads are the best control pads I've ever used. They do have a tendency to go a bit haywire as they age however, but It's something you can fix with a little bit of cardboard and a youtube video.

The PS3 controller is one of the highest quality controllers I ever had, if you could charge it at every power outlet it would be perfect, right up there with the Wii U - Pro Controller! I guess I have been lucky so far. I have 3 different PS3 controllers and no issues so far. But just in case I´ll check the KZbin video!

If you know how to take care of the hardware of the PS3, now is also a good time to get one because a lot of people online are putting broken PS3s up for sale. I think we'll eventually reach a point where it will be hard to find a working PS3 for cheap. It seems most PS3 owners never bother opening the system to give it a good, regular cleaning and will classify it as being "dead" when YLOD happens. Take care of your devices, people.

If you need a third party controller that can be used on a BC PS3 to play PS2 games, I recommend the “Retro Fighters Defender”controller. It can play ps2 games on a BC PS3. Besides first party controllers I’m not aware of any other 3rd party controller that has the function. I had to download an update to the controller to allow it to,work with ps2 games on PS3.

I just bought PS3 Slim the last time I had it I had two fat models that broke down two super slim models at broke down and the last super slim one got lost and I'm happy with my ps3 slim I'm going to collect as many PS3 games as possible I played Arkham asylum a long time ago on PS3 when I was 18 and I love my slim PS3

Last place is the fat. Second is super slim. First is the slim. The fat is extremely unreliable, I cant count how many of these I have fixed. Super slim has low storage and the sliding tray causes dust build up faster and can break. So super slim wins due to reliability. 50 years from now the slims will be the only ones standing. The other two won't stand the test of time.
