The PS4 Pro top cover can be very difficult to remove. Many people have asked me how to remove it and some even claim that it can't be done. This video shows how to remove it and exactly where to pull. Once this cover is removed you can access the fan and power supply. For anyone still struggling. Get any metal spoon, point it into the spot where your fingers would be, and simply pry it open. Worked for me.

Would it have killed sony to add a hidden button underneath to slide it open easy, instead of pulling it with force? I used a handle of a makeup brush, and pushed it under the spots then pulled down at different intervals. Took me about 5 minutes but I didn’t break anything, be careful

To be honest the fan doesnt even matter if your ps4 is overheating…. You need to get in the heatsink or replace thermal paste/pads and then overheating will be fixed

I figured it out. Mine was the same dude all you need to do is use a butter knife to wedge it open. They’re not sharpe so you don’t have to worry about scratching. Use Abit of tissue over the knife anyway and wedge it. Pops open. My right side was impossible to open with fingers aswell.

I have had my PS4 Pro for 2 years now and only had used the canned air to blow out the vents. I never knew you could take the covers off! Great and informative video thank you. I needed to remove the top cover but was afraid to do this by trial and error. Seeing your video first of all made me aware that there were no concealed screws etc or additional stages, prior to removing the top cover. I admit, having disconnected the PS fully, I used a screwdriver on each corner recess to prise the cover away gently - the comments below showed that this is not easy on the fingers, so I avoided that problem - only using my fingers when the cover was loosened. The video allowed me to see that position and shape of the corners so as not to damage the lower part of the console. Thank you, mission accomplished!

Same here! UK PS Pro. I was able to remove the right side, but the left side (where he says wasn't put back properly) just won't budge! My finger tips are now officially DEAD! Really hard on the "power button side". The most annoying part is that I can see than my FAN does need cleaning! But I can't get to pop the top. Message to SONY: Damn it why? Naps, try using something as a lever like I did, it'll get it off for you. As I said, I used the handle of a table knife due to the shape, but a few things should work. Just be careful to get it in as deep as you can to avoid scratching, denting or snapping anything off it. I had numb fingers and that was a last resort but was better than expected. Good luck

I’m 11 I opened this with my IQ don’t use your hands they will get mega hurt. What I did was got a wooden spoon put the circle part of the spoon and put it under the clips of the PS4 lift up the spoon not to hard and the clips will easily come off. Your welcome hope this works 😎

Mine was quite hard to open, so i put the console on a hard table facing the back at me, then with both hands i made force on the angles. The bad trip is that you might have fear to breaking the lid but everything went smooth. Of course my fingers are still screaming and I did all of that just to discover my d1 ps4 pro didn't needed a cleaning at all. Very efficient desing I must say.

You can clean the heatsink like this aswell you gotta have patience tho, if you shine a light towards the back you would see a metal cage thing and it's a cluttered with dust. Stick a q-tip in there and take your time try to bend it so you can get the big cake of it in the far back left

I was able to finally get the top off by gently lifting on each of the front sides with the claw-end of a hammer. Strong emphasis on GENTLY. It does not take much force, but it helps a lot when your fingers are about to fall off from trying with your hands.

Quick tip if you got to open one side but not the other: Wrap a screwdriver handle in a cloth and slide it from the open side to the locked side, it's super easy and requires no finger strength at all.

Guys, I did for the first time in my PS4 Pro just a couple of minutes ago, and although I have my fingers sore it worked. Basically dont try both sides at once if you never done it, pull a bit in the middle first, till you hear a clack, then use both hands on one side and the both hands on the other, I did the sony side first then the ps4 one. I wasted 15 min and many fingers trying both at the same time and it didnt work.

Thanks bro there was an unholy amount of dust in my system I cleaned it for 1st time in 8 years but if there was that much on surface I'm kinda worried about my heat sink I pulled out a literal fist full intotal from my vents and had to manually clean my fan with cotton balls alchohol and tooth picks

@TonicsFix I don't see these screws you show on the video, any chance you could give me a little help? I just want to clean the inside because my cat moults a lot and it's getting jammed with cat hair and getting a bit of a problem with overheating 😢
