Thanks for this, was curious about the compatibility and moving games to and from. Ordered an external 1TB SSD that should arrive in a few days. Hella useful to just throw all my old PS4 titles onto that and save the console storage for the PS5 games and eventually when they update the compatibility I'll be able to move some PS5 games onto the external SSD down the line

PlayStation doesn’t allow the ps5 disks to work that way due to sharing games. While phasing out the ps4 the vast majority of ps4 games will be sold from resellers anyhow. the developers only make money from the original retail sale so Sony said “here ya go, thank you”. I really appreciate that gesture because they didn’t have to make it compatible in the first place.

Love the tutorial- awaiting the arrival of my PS5 tomorrow and looking up these videos to have an idea of what to do. A couple points I have heard. I'm pretty sure you have to use a 3.0 hard drive for it to work a 2.0 is not compatible. The PS5 will require an SSD not a hard drive to have external storage. PS5 games will be formatted to use the speed of an SSD. I believe there are some expandable storage options coming out for the PS5 and of course an external SSD would be compatible at this moment (and probably for a better cost/storage amount).

Can I use a usb to get my saved data from my account that is not connected to ps plus from two separate consoles? And then plug the usb into my ps5 to copy the save data from the other two ps4’s to my ps5 account? I do not want to risk overwriting anything but I switch back and forth all the time so I’m not sure which console has the most updates saved data for which game.

Great video, and this might be a dumb question but do the games get optimized for the PS5? Example: I bought Ghost of Tsushima and installed it onto my PS5 hard drive because I heard it looks amazing on the PS5, running on 4K and 60fps I however have an external storage of 4TB that I can move Ghost onto. Will it still look/run the same if I have it on an external and run it on my PS5?

hey Jader! Yea there's no difference in how it GoT runs as far as 4k and Framerates are concerned. The only difference is literally the load times. I play GoT off my 2TB HDD and i've finished it with no problems at all :)

From what I understand, it's a plug and play type of situation with the external drive. No additional installations needed. Just make sure it's not one of the few Ps4 games that aren't compatible with the PS5 and thanks for watching brother! 🙏🏾
