The reason your elite series 2 gets misaligned and seems like it needs to be a two handed job for you (4:26) is because you’re supposed to pull that soft liner off of the magnetic base altogether. It’s only placed there for shipping to protect the prongs, otherwise it should be completely removed. I have 3 elite series 2s and I just throw them on the docks and they line up perfectly every time. Alternatively you don’t NEED to keep the magnetic base inside the zippered pouch either. I just keep the bases on my tv stand and throw them on when I’m done playing. This way I don’t have to open a case every time. I get it if you want to protect your controller but to me it just adds more clutter to the stand that I’d rather not have. I think the charging base (and the internal battery) is one of the most underrated and unappreciated features of the elite series 2. I just pick up a controller it’s always fully charged and ready to go. The batteries last way longer than I’ll ever be playing so that has been one of my favorite features. Now that I’ve had my elites for years I cant go back to not having 4 back buttons either. I’m so used to using the back buttons that I rarely even use the face buttons anymore. Not having 4 on the PS controller seems like a big missed opportunity, even my steam deck has 4 back buttons. Hope this helps.
@Oracle2448 Жыл бұрын
Now ill tell you why keeping the felt on and in the pouch is better long term. 1. Leaving it in the open causes a lot of dust to build up, and the elite series 2 doesn't have much going for it in terms of dust resistance. This can cause drift, and many people complain and blame Microsoft for making shitty controllers. 2. Leaving the felt on and not charging it every time you're done using it, rather than when needed will help keep your controller in good shape. And in his case, it seemed it wasn't lined up right and was further back so the felt was closer to the pins, mine is lined up well and I do not have any issue pulling it back and putting it on to charge. 3. All your things are in one place makes it easy to change things. While your controller is docked charging.

I do enjoy a premium style controller for playing a third person narrative game. Everyone talking like these controllers only make a difference in first person shooters or other high-pace games, but in my opinion, the customizable options and especially the back buttons do make a big difference in feeling your gameplay experience feel smoother in any kind of game. Ever since I tried the back-button attachment for the PS4 I've felt an incredible relief and have had a smoother, more fluent experience by remapping buttons in a way that doesn't interfere with moving the camera. For example, jumping, dodging, interacting (like picking up collectibles while walking or especially running)... That's why I bought the DaulSense Edge, and I also have an Elite series 2 controller, which I bought on sale. I agree that the price is quite high and kinda absurd, but I do love my DualSense Edge after trying it on Ghost of Tsushima and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and I can't stress enough how fluent the gameplay experience becomes with one of these controllers even from a somewhat casual perspective.

Couple things to note here The lock is for competitive play specifically, for example if you disconnect your controller / fight stick while in tournament for something like Street Fighter, that is an automatic disqualification (at the very least you lose a round). Bob touched on this but most players usually don’t utilize all 4 back buttons, 2 is more than enough, seeing as how most miscellaneous third party controllers only use 2 like the 8bitdo Ultimate. The reason it looks the same as a base Dualsense controller is because Sony specifically asked pro players how they felt about the weight and size of the original and how that would correlate to a pro controller (Bigger, smaller, heavier, lighter) and were asked to keep the form factor exactly the same. Overall Bob is a casual gamer (not an insult) and you definitely need to do your own independent research before coming to your conclusion. Sony has a video explaining who the controller was for and why it was made. Likewise you should also look at pro gamer input to more so see what they think; remember guys it’s a *Pro Controller* don’t just buy it because it has shiny new back buttons. Now I don’t disagree on the Dualsense applications on PC. Those will be ironed out with time (perhaps in the coming weeks). My guess is; statistically most people use an Xbox controller on PC and most games don’t utilize the adaptive triggers (or the haptic feedback for that matter) so they’re catering to the core console audience first. It’s not like every PlayStation exclusive is on PC as is. Not necessarily right but understandable *for now* Still love you Bob, have a good one guys.

I have Xbox and PS5 so I’ve spent a few months with an Elite Series 2 and just picked up the DS Edge. There is no question that the Elite feels “elite”. It’s very premium, from the triggers to the grips, d-pad, and thumbsticks. The buttons are also “clicky” like all Xbox controllers. I only use 2 of the back paddles and even then, I find myself accidentally pressing them because they sit flush against the grip. Apart from that, love the Elite. The Dualsense has an option of two bumpers if you don’t want to use the paddles, and I love them. No more accidental presses. The trigger stops do have a little more give, even on the shortest setting, than the Elite. Not a deal breaker for me. I love the customization settings being built into the PS5 as I have no plans to use the controller on a PC. I do wish that the additional sticks included weren’t all dome. There is no swappable d-pad option like on the Elite. Great to know you can swap out the thumbsticks components if you ever needed to, but that’s a feature I hope to never need. Still, it’s the best controller for PS5. Worth $200? No. This thing should’ve been priced around $140. Just not enough value given the lowered battery life, no real upgrade tot he texture, and use of same plastic components as on a regular Dualsense.

I've never measured, but my Elite controller feels like it gets closer to 80 hours than the supposed 40 in the specs. I'm actually even more glad I learned soldering when I got seriously into game collecting 7 years ago. The cost of the Xbox Elite alone ensures it's victory. You'd have to go through 3 regular DualSenses to equivocate the price of the Edge. It makes no financial sense.

I have had to replace my elite series 2 a couple of times due to the usb-c port on the controller becoming unconnected when moving around. I bet the lock mechanism is to combat that as a weak-point. With enough use It’s like old android phones and micro usb ports
@Shinobi332 жыл бұрын
But how much moving around do you do while playing? You're not one of these controller yankers are you?

Only thing turning me off about getting this controller is everyone says there is no point for it when playing story driven games like TLOU or GOW

I love my xbox Elite controller but the lack of Gyro and to a lesser degree the touchpad features have really held it back. This thing looks like a really good answer to it but I wish it had four back paddles and a better control stick layout. Maybe their next version will be my next premium controller.

Thank you for making the wireless/wired distinction, common misconception from earlier times that wireless is garbage when really it's basically just as good, but it's wireless which is much more convenient.

At 6:22 he mentions something about the PC not having an app for the controller, which is false. The playstation accessories app gives you full functionality of remapping and adjusting all kinds of things on the controller, exactly like how the PS5 does. I bought this controller to use on my PC and everything functions as it should and is a really enjoyable controller for me. I don't even own a PS5 lmao

For PC, my recommendation remains the 8bitdo pro 2 or the 8bitdo ultimate, depending on your preferred stick layout. Xbox controllers fail at both 2d and 3d games, having a bad dpad and no gyro even in their most expensive models, and this controller here is definitely quite overpriced.

Speaking from the perspective of an XBOX gamer, if the PS controller has even average build quality it will blow the XBOX controller out of the water. Microsoft's build quality is complete garbage.

I like buying one of each main comsole controllers because I'm weird and I like collecting input methods. I like the switch Pro, the PS4, the Dual Sense, the x360, the GameCube, etc. The XBoxOne has to be one of my favorites controllers, as far build quality and versatility goes. I have other controllers as my actual faves, but as with the 360 before it, the One's just fits the most use cases. I returned my Series controller 3 times because I thought I had a defect. The 3rd time I realized the build quality or QC was garbage. At least compared to the XBoxOne it was a big downgrade. My best experiences so far, as far as ergonomics and build quality has been from Nintendo and 8Bitdo. Edit and Playstation. Next comment reminded me how much I liked my DualSense, I just don't get to use it enough. I've never tried those premium edition controllers because the base units are plenty enough. Good to hear I guess the premium xbox controller of this gen isn't even worth it/suffers from the same woes as the base model. I mean it's sad but at least I don't have to worry about missing out.

As someone who takes controllers apart and mods them. The standard ps5 is by far the best made controller out right now in terms of quality materials and overall build. Haven't tried the new pro one but I definitely prefer the regular dual sense over switch pro, standard Xbox, Xbox elite, ps4, and any of the razer wolverine controllers. My go to controllers are ps5 dual sense controllers modded with the soft touch plastic and rise4 back button mods from extremerate.

@@thefreshtowel9815i might just have bad luck but ive had 4 different dualsense controllers and every single one of them has squeaky face buttons and the analog sticks make clicky noises when i use them. its just awkward to use

Own the Xbox elite controller, and I am having stick drift issues in less than a year. For their premium controller, at that cost, that’s not right. Their design is flawed. Love the concept of replaceable sticks here.

I’m on my THIRD ps5 controller. The stick drift issues are very real. The swappable modules alone make this worth my money but also I require back paddles and play on ps5 so it’s a win for me

Bro that was a solid idea for the cable not being able to pull out. Omfg I remember how bad the ps4 controller was with that shitty cable that kept falling out, or kept turning on and off. This is amazing!

4 hours of battery life is shockingly low and is unacceptable for a device that costs $100 let alone $200. Was surprised to learn normal DualSense is 8. XBOX Series X first party battery is 30 hours and is replaceable. The XBOX Elite 2 is 40 - 10x the Dual Sense Edge! I would rather have built in Hall effect sticks if it meant at least doubling the battery life. But even 8… how are getting 1/4 of XBOX? Not using BLE or RF?
@batman85892 жыл бұрын
Not many hrs on PS5 & controller is dirty. Wash your hands before playing. Obviously your controller stays cleaner and it helps prevent slipping. Clean the controller with an electronics cleaner. Spray on the rag & wipe. KontrolFreeks grips are an excellent product. Used them for several years now on PS4 & PS5.

Anything over 100 is too much imo, the Core went on sale for like 80 bucks in my country, I picked it up and got those back padels with some longer sticks off eBay for 20 bucks, its essentially an Elite 2 for 100, it cannot get better than this, but for some reasons it does not feel as good as the Astro C40
@MINTY_FN2 жыл бұрын
The Dualsense Edge's battery life doesn't make sense to me. A premium controller is only appealing to people who play games as their primary hobby. If you're charging $200 for a controller it should have a better battery life than the base controller, never mind the Xbox Elite Controller.

So the reason that lock is there for the cable is that Dualsense controllers can be used in wired mode - meaning you're not worried about interference or delay when playing competitive games. The lock is there cos if you're playing this, and it gets ripped out your game is done for

Bro. If they just put hall effect sensors in the thumbsticks in the first place, they wouldn't have to have completely removable modules to make more e-waste when you burn through them. Plus, I bet they could have put a bigger battery in there with the room they would have gotten back from ditching the module concept. Such an L in this day and age.

The only thing I can think of with the cable is to help with tripping over it, but again then something like the magsafe would be much better. I still remember playing Lego Dimensions (yes, I was one of those people) and tripping over the cable while the gamepad was connected to my PS4. The USB end snapped and I had to go to support and request a new gamepad, as you can’t replace just the cable end. Now that I could see having one of those locking mechanisms for!

This is the biggest I have money to burn item. Over double the price for less battery and like $20 worth of additional features over the original controller. Buy the fanciest controller you want and some kid across the world is still going to destroy you with a controller that is duct taped together.
