@DocValentino3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the channel interaction. This is the G9.. the Neo wasn’t out yet when I got this one. My understanding of HDMI 2.1 is that the bandwidth has increased from 18 Gigabits per second (Gbps) to 48 Gbps. This will allow for increased resolutions, frame rates, and even improved audio, but it would not have any effect on the aspect ratio and, in turn, the stretching.

I use a HDMI 2.1 Audio extractor. HDMI cord plugs into the extractor and will allow you to utilize various audio outputs depending on what you can find on the market. You'll need another HDMI cord to plug from the extractor into the monitor for visuals. I'm using a VPFET 8k I pulled off of Amazon. May want to do some research on which one works best for your setup and they are externally powered. You will also need to make sure your PS5 sound output is set to "TV" or it won't work properly once connected.

How have you managed to make audio work with your ps5? Any pointers would be appreciated!
@DocValentino2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching and for the question. There are several ways to do this, with varying equipment and cost options, but two of the cheapest and easiest ways are 1) Get a little USB stereo adapter like this: amzn.to/3qLIBym You will also need a 3.5mm aux cable, which those speakers appear to support. Plug the USB adapter into the PS5, plug the aux cable into the green port on the adapter and to your speaker AUX IN, then on the PS5 - go to Settings>Audio Output>Output Device, and set it to USB Headset (USB Audio Device). - or - 2) You could use an audio extractor device, that will allow you to use an optical output for audio. I did a video on a great product for that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp-sfXmNm9KJeaM With that particular device, it acts as an HDMI switch and audio extractor, so you don't need the other USB adapter, and your audio output in the PS5 settings would be set to HDMI Device instead of USB Headset. Sorry for the long answer, but I wanted it to be helpful.

@@DocValentino this was incredibly useful information! So I think what I’d want to go with is option two seeing as I’d like to connect both my ps5 and my Nintendo switch to the monitor. Final question, are you connecting your pc to that switcher as well and does that function when in pbp mode? I notice in this video you’ve got both the Mac and pc and I was wondering if that would allow you to have both a gaming system and your computer up at the same time (hopefully im making sense, apologies If im not!)
@DocValentino2 жыл бұрын
I have a fairly complicated set up. I have 2 PCs (a laptop and a desktop), and multiple consoles, utilizing an ultra wide monitor and super ultra wide monitor. I run the consoles, and an hdmi from my gaming desktop PC through the switch, and then run the output from that switch, through my capture card and then onto the super ultra wide monitor’s HDMI input… only one of those can display at a time. However, the HDMI from my desktop is only if I’m capturing gameplay or running my stream (which I haven’t done lately). My PC gameplay is on my ultra wide monitor connected via DisplayPort while sending a “projection” to the HDMI switch. My laptop is connected to the super ultra wide via DisplayPort and to the ultra wide via HDMI. So to hopefully answer your question, you can have your PC and console side by side, but not your consoles side by side unless you use an HDMI to DisplayPort like the one in this video.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2nRiaJrapaSfbs , but you wouldn’t have your audio from the console that’s using that adapter unless you extract the sound separately and run it to a separate set of speakers. I answered from mobile, so hopefully that all makes sense.

@@ingeze Can't do 120Hz with PS5 using split screen. I'm not sure about only using the PS5 as an input and nothing else. I have mostly been gaming on my PC recently. I need to do some more comprehensive scenarios with the PS5 and Xbox Series X regarding this monitor.

@DocValentino3 жыл бұрын
A lot of factors play into ideal size and resolution. Most notably, how far away are you sitting… I am curious if 21:9 (hopeful) or 32:9 (unlikely) is able to get support added through a future software update.

@@DocValentino very soon i heard , big summer update , 1440p , super wide is too wide imo , less you have a massive theatre size screen.

PS5 only supports 16x9 format, only pc will have the matching res to match this format. Personally it is a waste on any console unless you like a stretch image. Thank god the PSVR 2 arrived

Is it possible to play your PS5 on the G9 at 120hz in any way? I have a G9 too but disappointed I cannot use it at 120hz with PS5
@omerocho80223 жыл бұрын
Great video, getting my ps 5 in 2 days. I'm having the G9 as my primary gaming monitor as im running my RTX 3090 on it. pretty bad it doesn't support 2k and 3440x1440 (21:9) yet, feeling that if I would split the screen to play on the PS5 my 3090 on half of it with only 120HZ because of the splitting option will be overkill...
@DocValentino3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Nice job on scoring a RTX 3090. I’m still stuck with a RTX 2060 at the moment. It is a shame that the new consoles don’t support 3440x1440. Hopefully they get a future software update to add that support. I’d love to use my consoles on my 21:9 without stretching the picture or black bars.
@Malinkadink3 жыл бұрын
@@DocValentino They most likely will never support 21:9 as its still niche on PC and will remain that way. 1440p support would still be good for this monitor since then you'd at least run at 2560x1440 on half the screen. I assume the xbox works like that since it does have 1440p option?
@DocValentino3 жыл бұрын
Yep, the Xbox Series X will do 1440p on one half.

I would imagine they will add 1440p support. The DualSense controller is pretty cool, though. You’ll love the PS5 with or without the 1440p support 😊. It looks really good in 1080p on the one half.

@@coldbstn It was the all caps that came across harsh. Resolution isn't the most important thing to everyone. I personally prefer a higher frame rate over higher resolution. I'm also recovering from COVID at the moment, so I may be a little cranky, my apologies. To answer your question, you cannot select 4k output on the PS5 in this manner. If the PS5 could do 1440P, you could do that, but it doesn't , so 1080P is the best it can do. The bad part about it, is that the HDMI port on this model is 2.0, so you can't get 120Hz either. The Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo model has HDMI 2.1, so it should support 120Hz in split screen, but still not 4k... (and it's super expensive). Take care.

Everytime a content creator says "dont forget to like and subscribe" i am immediately offput and have no desire to like and subscribe. Yall dont need to tell us every video you make. Its actually really annoying. If people like your content they will like and subscribe on their own without being told to. Make good content and you get many subscribers
