I think we owe the PS3 an apology. That thing played PS1,2,& 3 games. Had a blu ray player which at the time were ridiculously expensive. 4 usb ports.& a 60 Gb hard drive which again at the time wasnt bad. For $600. Also free online play. This in comparison is not even comparable value wise.

I still have my 60gb fat model PS3 which still works perfectly fine today. I did get it repasted and replaced the PSU like 10 years ago but it still works every time I fire it up. Plays PS1, PS2, and PS3 games and it has exclusives you simply don't see anymore like Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Resistance, Motorstorm, Socom, Warhawk, Starhawk...man what a machine. A 4090 has around 130% effective speed over a 3070, its not far off being three times faster, hell a PS6 will be lucky to get near a 4090. The PS5 is equivalent to a 2070 which was already two years old and only a mid range card when the PS5 released. Consoles are basically cut down, two to three generation out of date PC's with less functionality and less freedom. To top it all off thanks to Sony now you can pick up a pre-built PC's which are way better and the same price as a PS5 Pro. The PS6 is going to be an absolute joke.

As someone with a pretty disposable income with a PS5, switch, and mid to high end pc with a 3080, I just dont see the value in owning one. Maybe if you dont have a console period, it could be worth. But all exclusives have been coming to PC so why invest in a console when 6 months from now, it'll just be on PC. Ignoring the price and how scummy Sony are, the biggest problem is there’s no reason to buy even a base ps5. We were promised more exclusives than the ps4 era, we were promised single player games etc but instead got rammed with Sonys attempts at a live service push. I switched to Xbox because I was more excited about perfect dark, Indiana jones and gears e day than I have been for anything Sony has shown or released- I’m also enjoying the series x console more than the ps5 itself also and I had a bunch of fun on halo infinite-a shocker to a lot of Xbox and PlayStation fans I’d imagine. If Microsoft wasn’t so incompetent the series x should’ve and would’ve dominated the ps5

As a PC guy who knows specs, I don't see this as a significant upgrade. My PC I paid $500 for second hand can already play games at 3K (2880x1620) resolution at 60 frames per second and I don't need ray tracing in my games. Plus its not backwards compatible with every PlayStation generation like my PC, laptop and steam deck is.

lol. I know PC specs too, and saying My 500$ PC runs my games at X resolution is as nebulous as it gets too. My integrated GPU can run Half life 2 at 4K 100fps. Means nothing for modern games that use the wide swathe of DX12 features and bloated UE5 engine. This is fixed hardware targeting specific settings on AAA graphics coomer games. Not many cards sub 500USD can genuinely run high settings 4k Native, or even at 87% resolution scaling at 60fps on trash Like Alan Woke 2, Space Marine 2, or Goy of Soy 2. That's the audience for this and 36RDNA2 Compute units aint gonna cut it. PS5 Pro is 60CU's with a bump to memory speed. So direct to metal, some Dev magic, and 60fps 4k with custom settings is pretty possible now. Closest Desktop analogue being the RX 6800 and that is pretty much baseline for high setting 4k 60, and those retail for like 400 USD now...

Its just like. How many years have the current consoles been out? And how many games have been released that lived up to the promises made when these consoles were being marketed? From my perspective, im not going to buy an upgrade to something that hasnt even been leveraged properly in the first place. I dont see a world where you can readily buy a ps5, and people just opt to spend an extra 300 dollars just for game developers to not take advantage of the power anyways.

Invest in a mid range, prebuilt P.C., instead. If you really want, you can stroke your PS controller, on a wide range of games. Yeah, you can't transfer your library.... I miss Bloodborne. Most games are ported now though, and P.C. has it's own exclusive library. Play those, while you wait for sales. Or, just use your money, to prepare for the incoming SHTF situation looming.....
