I think it has a lot to do with other stuff than hardware for most people, like not having to pay for online, having actual competition between game marketplaces that results in lower game prices, having basically infinite backwards compatibility especially after factoring in emulators and virtual machines. I have an RX 6600 and I'm not even swayed in the slightest by the pro, and I've had every PlayStation besides the PS5. The second I switched to PC in 2014, I've never looked back

You can't possibly actually believe this lol. PC gaming has never been just about the power. It's a lot more than that but where the Pro fails vs PC is that you can already build a PC right now with an RTX 4070 for around $900, which is already faster in rasterization, RT, has better upscaling and FG already implemented in tons of games. GPU prices for the level of performance will drop even more with the next generation around the corner as they always do. The Pro while an interesting and capable machine for someone already invested in that ecosystem is the least of a threat to PC any console has ever been.

I love my EVGA3080 and hopeful it can survive longer. Had nothing but issues with AMD before I got the 3080 when it launched. I don’t think the PS5 Pro would impact Nvidia and AMD that much.

I bought only Nvidia card for like +15 years my last is an MSI 3080 12go already used at a good price and it will be my last Nvidia card. I will buy a 7900XTX as soon as i can. For 700$ you get ultimate am4 upgrade kit, 5700x3d and 7800xt and you can sell our old stuff to retrive some money back. That PC will run all aaa games on pair with ps5 pro and it will push towards 300fps in CODs etc, something pro will never be able to do. PC gamer is always PC gamer and many of them own Xbox or ps5 that is collecting dust. Pro aint gonna change that..

Just remember though, the meaning of midrange will change as new GPU generations appear. What's hot right now, in a couple of years will be lower end. It is what it is. I would rather not be stuck with one piece of hardware for several years when I can afford to keep it up to date with newer stuff. That said, consoles have their place in those that can only afford a console and don't want to play around with hardware.

@@OniiXGaming Not many games have a native fsr 3.1 implementation that much is true, but to be fair since it's open source there's countless mods for games without native support. Sadly for AMD they had to accept that without hardware accelerated upscaling fsr was never going to be as good as DLSS. They tried the software only approach and it didn't work out for them. Also I would be surprised if they don't release fsr 4 with backwards compatibility for the 7000 series at least. Probably not as far back as 6000 series but that's why I bought a 6700xt instead of something higher in the stack cause I want to switch to an 8000 series or maybe 9000 series AMD GPU in the near future if they're priced competitively. But the rumors and price cuts seem to suggest that it's going to be a great gen performance/price wise. Even though for me better RT/Upscaling isn't worth the (usual) Nvidia 30% tax it's clear they need to achieve feature parity before they can truly start making a dent and gaining market share. So they can't wait around and worry about backwards compatibility too much. They have to make their upscaling and RT performance better while still offering better prices and that seems to be the focus for the next gens.

Agree that many people will get FOMO once the PS5 PRO is out. It seems like it can provide a really enhanced version of old games and most likely will play newer UE5 games better. No one is speaking of it but it should also be great for PSVR2. Yet I don't plan to get one. First and foremost it is too expensive for a dedicated gaming machine, second I dont like Sony ecosystem and my RX 6800 is serving me pretty well at 1440p

AMD's gpu mindshare went down this generation for PC despite Nvidia raising the prices of their GPUs. Upscalers like DLSS, FSR, or PSSR doesn't mean much when newer games design their targeted resolutions with an upscaler in mind, same for frame generation technology, look at Monster Hunter Wilds PC requirements. This will likely force more consoles games into the 30fps area. Also aren't a lot of PS players still on their PS4's, why upgrade to a $700 box with few exclusives. Sony needs BIG TITLES on their new system to convert players. I would think these players will just wait for the PS6 at this point. Also I honestly doubt many PC gamers with older tech will buy a PS5Pro. Most likely these players are happy enough still playing their old loved games like WoW, LoL, Apex, GTA4, Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, etc. Gaming to me is in a downward tilt for consoles. We are no longer in the 90's to early 2010's where big exciting games released every month.

Froggy this dlss addiction is a problem. Literally dlss is not working on dying light 2 and im pissed. I dont even want to play the game with fsr. Im not trolling. Having an nvidia card has made me really not want to touch fsr. Its actually pretty bad. Right now even though fsr isnt that bad in the game i cant help but oh man dlss would make it look so much better. This is a real thing and i fully think i will struggle to buy an amd card esp with no ai. Fsr4 has to be as good as dlss.

High End PCs are overkill for most games, its just brute force your way into 4K high frames if you have a high refresh rate, consoles have no settings, no customization, no mods, you can tweak settings on a mid-range PC and get high end performance thats why the settings are for, High End PCs are for people who wanna play with all the bells and whistles on which aren't even an option on consoles

I love how all these console fanboys compare there console to a 4070 not a amd gpu when the ps5 pro uses a rdna 3.5/4 gpu design with zen 2 cpu while it is good hardware it still won't have the path tracing / ray tracing performance of even a 3080 ti or 4070. The machine learning based npu that does up scaling for the ps5 is still nothing new since the hx 370 already has the ability to do that already on pc. Not to mention that all rdna 3 gpu's have machine learning hardware which should be added with fsr 4 and you can already run xess which is already a machine learning based upscaler. Problem with PS5 Pro is the same as PS4 Pro, the CPU is practically the same weakling as the base console. First race I did in F1 23 I learned real quick that hitting into cars in turns as a crutch doesn't work...these cars are delicate. I have a ps5, xbox series s and now a pc. The next console i would get would be a next gen one in a few years time. The big problem with ps5 pro is is needs devs to patch games . Devs have not patched games from last gen, so why would you think they are going to support a console with a pro label on it. Alot of dev teams and studios are now GONE , that js why i do not trust sony doing this pro console. You could end up with a £700 ps5 with a handful of patched games. PC has 60 fps on every game ,sony can not compete with that. If i was going to spend £700 i would get a portable pc handheld machine over a ps5 pro.

You keep talking about DLSS like AMD does try to use FSR. AMD struggles to catch Nvidia period. FSR is like 2-3 generations behind DLSS and no upscaler is beating DLSS. DLSS is mainly for games using Ray Tracing to keep the performance. Black Myth Wukong is a PRIMARY example. FSR looks horrible on it. And even the 7900xtx cant run Black Myth at Native 4K with evenything turned on. At least the 4090 can hit 40fps without DLSS.

It will be faster, but games are not optimized for the 5070 on PC, games will run better on the PS5 pro. The 5070's 12 GB VRAM is seriously going to tank performance for any upcoming games.
