Love my pro mate. Don’t care what people say. I notice a difference on my LG OLED. The blurriness in performance mode always annoyed me in the base console and the pro takes care of that on the games I play so worth every penny. Look forward to see how future games benefit.

The differences in person on a good 4K display (and not sitting too far away from it, which many people do) are much more obvious than they appear to be in youtube videos.

For people who are so into all of the inner workings of games one of the most surprising things the pro has shown is how little people seem to understand about things like Dynamic Resolution Scaling. So many games on console use dynamic resolution scaling and it cause games to drop resolution to maintain the target framerate. One of the best things about a pro console that it basically is always maxing out the DRS (Dynamic Resolution Scaling) so in effect you are always playing the game at the best possible resolution. We see this across every game that uses it even without a patch. Because the system has more power to run games it removes the need to drop the resolution and in many cases it removes the need to drop the framerate so even in the unpatched games you are always getting the best possible visuals and the best possible framerate given the settings of the game. Sometimes its a minor improvement other times its noticeable but in all instances in games that use Dynamic resolution scaling the pro is adding that bit of extra umph to get it to the best possible image and its why people who own the Pro all say there's a difference playing games on the pro.

Seeing KZbinrs claim different is almost infuriating. As a PS5 Pro owner, which I have connected to a LG C1 OLED, all my games look and play better. All of them.

Thanks Rob, great video. Watching the videos on your channel, it's really nice to see some measured opinions about the Pro that aren't just focused on the price of it! Got mine on release date, but haven't had a huge chance to play it yet unfortunately, but happy with what I've seen on the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster so far. I am really looking forward to seeing the results when games are developed with the Pro system in mind, rather than just patched, and am hoping we will see a step up in appearance or performance to the base model, similar to what we see between the Xbox Series S and X (I may be a little optimistic there though!). The twin USB-Cs on the front have carried over from the slim model, and my only issue with them is having to plug the Pulse3D adapter, as when I plug it in the back of the console (mine is kept horizontally in my TV unit), I lose a solid connection to the headset. To remedy this, I bought a 0.5m USB-A extension lead, so have the adapter plugged into that, so it peeks out enough at the end of the console for a decent connection. Shame there isn't a USB-C version of this adapter available to replace the current one.

The OG PS5 had an over engineered heat pipe and fan assembly so it didn't need to spin the fans as fast. The Slim and the Pro used a smaller subsystem - with the Pro having more heat pipes than the Slim.. but nowhere as OTT as the OG

Thanks for the review HR. I agree with the fan noise, but it only caused a concern due to my expectations of it being quieter. But also, I kept in mind that I'd rather it work and do its job as opposed to the opposite lol. As long as the Pro still operates like it's supposed to, I'll automatically deafen to the noise; only noticeable if it's really quiet around and you are looking for the noise. Did you open it up to see inside after gaming and check? After that check, just chalk it up to like you said "it is what it is". Side note/point...nintendo's switch is rumored to add an extra fan...so that's saying a lot about power and fan cooling. But switch needs a lot more than an extra fan imo 😂. Always like your channel HR👍

@honestrob Yeah, could be... like a break-in period. I don't know, but mine is pretty much the same. Earlier today I listened, but same result. Had to lean down close to really hear it, threw up my hands, and just started playing Apex 😂. I'm more pist that there are no gyro motion controls in the PS5 settings in Apex! So I've been trying to practice with my heavy handed 🫏, steadily adjusting the advance control settings...so annoying and frustrating 😑.

My original ps5 was silent , my ps5 slim though was loud , it would make the weird vibrate noise , the pro is also silent and I am glad . I don’t know if it is louder than the original but I barely hear the ps5 pro working

Thanks a lot for your honest first impressions, i value your opinion a lot and now actually have an idea what's "pro" about the PS5 .. 😁 .. about the fan running while playing G.o.W. - i totally agree that such a game should run super soft and fluent on nearly any hardware, but the other day i was checking prices for an upgrade of my good old 10" tablet because the hick ups i get in G.o.W. all the time started annoying me a while ago already. Gets worser with each update :-/ and i only have this problem with G.o.W. on my tablet. It still serves all my android needs without any struggles - except of Gems of War 😕 . I think devs could improve and optimize a lot. If they wanted to.

Agree about the usb c ports in the front; ill probably never use even use them. The USB A ports in the back though, already got my controller charging cradle coming from there as well as my headphones dongle. The headphone dongle in the back is a bit of a pain in the butt since i swap it back and forth between my xbox, hard to see back behind there to swap it. I've read that some people are having trouble with the PS pulse headphone dongle behind the system, using extenders to solve the issue. Luckily my turtle beach headphones/dongle isnt giving me that problem, but i may get an extension anyways to make it easier to swap. The only gripe I have is that the system doesnt sit very steady in the horizontal position, its wobbly if you touch it. Ive got kids and cats, Im worried the could damage something inside if they wobble it too hard to the point where its banging the table. Going to get some skates/sleds for it when they become available to try to alleviate that problem. As far as performance goes, well I dont have a lot to compare it to, never had a ps5 or even ps4 for that matter. But the games look and run great on my 4k120hz tv, so im happy. Fir the first month i went with ps plus premium so i could test out a bunch of game trials, and game catalog stuff. Ill probably switch to ps plus extra next month, but i suspect i wont have to buy any games any time soon, tons of titles across ps4 and ps5 available on ps plus to keep me busy for months.

My Pro is quieter than my day 1 PS5 and is almost silent, would be tempted to contact Sony in case of a fault. It uses almost no more power due to smaller node being used

The PS5 and Xbox both need more usb connections on the front imo, its a pain to get to the back of the console if you change them regularly!

It is kinda annoying to have external extras attached to the system though. One more USB port would have been nice.

DF actually had a tip on how to transfer. Not sure if it applies to you and if it can help (I kinda zoned out on it because I didn't need to transfer), but check it out. It's called "PS5 Pro is out now: We've tested many games. Here's the verdict". Done like 16hrs ago.

@ After all the safe mode preparations, it took 2 hours to make a back-up on a brand new WD Black P40 and then another 6 hours to put the back-up on the PS5 pro! All that’s left now is to move my internal ssd.

Dude I'm Playing San Andreas PS4 Version on my PS5 Pro. It looks way better! Like it enhanced the visuals! Metal looks like metal. Glass looks like glass. Every material looks how it supposed to and not all plastic looking. Like the ps5 pro got it like that. Also it upped the resolution on the game as well.

Bought a Pro and it's an awesome system but I don't see the value right now for me. Perfect system if you don't want to build a PC or if you want the best ps5 console. No disc drives available to buy and why no disc drive edition pissed me off. It's impressive what consoles can do with outdated hardware. Proves how much bloat gets in the way of what a powerful pc can do

Because I can't get over the fact that you mention a hot button topic "no disc drive" but then bought the console anway? That just doesn't make sense because why did you even buy it, knowing that you felt that way about the hdd and further, you knew what the specs were and were getting if bought just from the previews of testing on it. That's the only thing I don't like about the PS5 Pro the two USB ports on the back. I just bought a Pulse Elite headset, so I put the dongle on the back. I kept getting these weird, fizzy can of coke sounds coming from the headset, and it would randomly disconnect. I was reading reviews about it and said to put the dongle to the front, so I bought an extension cable to bring it to the front, and it fixed the problem. It's a shame about the two SS ports at the front that I never use them. Now I have a dongle in front of the PS5 Pro that looks weird. 🫣

Y'all didn't want it before it came out, claimed it wasn't real and didn't need it, dissed the specs and now that it's out, you want a crack at it if it's cheaper, and gonna say it's worth it then??! Naw, I hope the price goes up just for all that bull, just like their M.2 ssd went up tbh 😐. Bad behavior and ungratefulness absolutely do not deserve any good rewards.
