He referenced Digital Foundry, but didn't correctly provide what DF findings are. Currently, multiplatform games actually run better on PS5 and not on Xbox Series X. There are some modes that Xbox Series X runs better, but very marginally, on other modes such as FPS modes, the PS5 actually runs 10 - 15% better.

Well in the last DF video of Cold War the XSX performs way better on Ray Tracing mode, almost no drops while PS5 dropped to 40fps in multiple occasions. And while PS5 performed slightly better in 120fps mode the VRR in the XBX fixed those issues. At the end of the day they're both great consoles. I'm loving my XBX and can't wait to get my hands on a PS5 DE.

My thoughts exactly! I have both the Series X and PS5 since launch and hardcore love the PS5! Since I turned it on I felt like I was getting a next gen experience, unlike the X which felt like an upgrade from the One X. After looking at the exclusives coming out next year PS5 is killing it! Apart from the PS5 digital being the best value. I actually think it offers less value than the more expensive disc version as you're fixed to 1 market place for games and you can't trade those games in for a discount off your next game. Series S is the clear value option with game pass. Game pass takes the issue of paying for games out of the equation for the most part, meaning trade-in discounts off future purchases aren't as issue

Because that's not the case, games running on backwards compatibility have had no optimizations for next gen consoles. Also they don't run better per say as there's no real comparison to confirm that as those games are limited by their corresponding ps4 pro modes and xbox one x modes, for example sekiro on xbox series x runs at 1800p native unlocked fps (xbox one x mode) but can't maintain a 60fps lock at all times while ps5 runs the sekiro at 1800p checkerboarded unlocked (ps4 pro mode) but can maintain 60 fps lock easily.

@Imagine Drogons Yes they run at a higher res because of the xbox one x mode, ps5 would be just as capable if it wasn't limited by the ps4 pro mode, but games do not run at higher frame rates on xbox, they run at a capped 60 (or 30 depending on the game) just like on ps5 but there are some cases like hitman and, like I mentioned before, sekiro, where those games run at higher res on xsx but can't maintain 60 fps while ps5 with a lower res can easily maintain 60 fps. The only exception was assassin's creed unity where it ran better on xsx, but that's due to backwards compatibility issues with that game in particular that DF explained before.

I’ve bought both, and I’m currently thinking at selling my Series X since it’s the same thing as my Xbox One. When I turned it on, with the en the UI still in 1080p, I didn’t get any wow factor. I would surely reconsider buying it in a year when there will be some exclusives stuff for it, but at the moment, if you already own an Xbox One, I don’t see a reason to buy a Series X. But I definitely recommend the PS5!

This is false. The PS5 performs better than the Series X when it comes to gaming at 120fps atm. However, the Series X is much more stable than the PS5 when it comes to gaming at 4k 60fps. It comes down to preference, but the VAST majority of console users cant even utilize 120fps atm due to their monitors/TVs

Valhalla on Series X has more detailed textures, and the FPS/Screen tearing issues for both the Series X/PS5 version were patched today! The PS5 is able to handle games at 120fps better, while the Series X is able to run games at 4k/60fps better than the PS5. DMC and Black Ops confirm this. Dirt 5 is pretty garbage on Series X compared to the PS5 atm

Have both and they are really cool but if you're starting in gaming I recommend Xbox because of Game pass it's just a great service and you have access from the start 100+ games to play, the great majority of the excellent title's, with ps5 it's a hand full of the ps4 era and the new ones are really expensive, here many will argue that Xbox title's are expensive too but Xbox exclusive title's are free on game pass day one. I bought the ps5 only for exclusive games.

Great comparison. In my opinion you should've mentioned, that currently it is not possible on PS5 to even "archive" PS5 games on an external drive. I mean with the Series X you can easily move a 50GB game in less than a minute on a fast USB SSD (such as the Samsung T7) or the other way around which is a nice workaround for not buying the expensive Seagate Expansion Card (1TB T7 SSD is 110€ compared to 240€ 1TB Seagate Card). I wish that PS5 will be patched regarding this issue.

I’ve had my series x for about a week now, still waiting for my ps5 😢. The XSX feels like a more powerful Xbox One X, kinda boring really. Can’t wait to get my hands in the PS5, everybody keeps saying that’s a true next gen experience, hopefully it is, because as robust as the XSX is, it certainly feels lacking in the innovation department.
