Don't know anyone with a 8K TV or planning to get one and I don't know of any 8K movies or TV shows or content. I would take that 8K with a gram salt. People are not going to drop money on a PS6 and then go by an 8K TV. How long does an 8K game take to make 10 20 years??

I got a Samsung 8k qled but definitely wasted my money on it. It's 3 years old and nothing supports it. I do get 120 hz but could of just got a 4k TV lol.

@@xyzman101 8K is way way off if even need. Even if you have 4K you would be surprised to see how much stuff that you're watching that's 1080 and not true 4K. Also developing for 8K games or movies is going to be super expensive and take a lot more time. I've even heard eye doctor say a human cannot see more than 2K. And there is even debate over how many hertz a human can actually see. Talk to your eye doctor they will explain it all to you.

Current gen consoles struggle to do 4K/60 with trickery. Next gen consoles doing a locked Native 4K/60 would be a miracle. Sony throwing out 8K/60 is for that sucker born every minute.

People have got to stop stigmatizing temporal upscaling. It is the future. It is only going to get better and better. Look at DLSS 3. Even FSR 3. And a lot of developer internal solutions like Insomniacs temporal injection and Unreal 5's TSR. The goal for next gen should be to direct its resources into improving the visuals and physicality of the game, and rendering most games comfortably at 1440p with the best quality hardware assisted upscaling. When you use your resources to render at 4K or higher, you loose so much rendering output that you could have spent on stunning visuals.

That is why I said consoles that can render comfortably at 1440p natively, while targeting a suitably next gen experience. The reason temporal upscaling is being stigmatized right now is because the minimum for it to successfully simulate 4K at distance on a 4KTV is about 1440p. Current consoles unfortunately are ending up with much lower targets on Unreal 5. I'd say 1080p will give you ok image quality with a really good temporal upscaler but any lower than that and you are in serious trouble.@@bombyo3634

And before anyone pipes up that 1440p with a good temporal upscaler looks bad on their 75 inch tv at 4 foot away. That is a you problem. 4 foot from a 75 inch tv is too close to the screen. The pixels are too big for your viewing distance at this point, so you are hitting the screen door effect. Buy a screen size that suits your viewing distance. There are charts online for this crap. Using a monitor with your console? Fair enough but it is not what they were designed for. They are designed to look best on TV's. That said, if people target 1440p as standard, most monitors will produce a fantastic image.

Anyone out here have any 8K television sets? Those things are in the thousands and it’s gonna take a long time before it reaches regular consumer price levels.. Just to get a decent OLED cost about $1500 for 4K 55 inch. 8k …? Unless you are among the filthy rich that can easily drop $3500 for an apple vision, pro with no hurt to your wallet, the PS6 will not sell so well

It sounds like an insurmountable task because you are looking at it wrong. What it means is the HDMI chip bandwidth will be 48GBPS and the console will be allowed to output at the HDMI 2.1 standard of 4K 120hz or 8K 60hz. Smart upscaling will likely be heavily integrated into PS5, maybe hardware assisted, so there is your "8K" or "4K". There is no real 8K rendering next gen unless its 2D pixels lol. And that's okay. It is a waste of resources. You gotta read between the lines with these rumours.

There are a few problems. First almost nobody has an 8k tv and even less people habe 8k monitors. The few 8k TVs are probably Neo Qled Samsunt TVs and a 4K Oled will always look better than that. Second 8k isnt even a PC thing by now so it def wont be on console. Probably also not in 2028. People are just starting to go beyond FullHD as Median. And consoles are always for the huge masses and not some niche enthusiasts. It would be wiser to use horse power in order to increase details, framerates, ray tracing, lod, things that can happen on the screen at ones and so many other things. Its ok to get a bit hyped up but 8k rlly isnt a hype topic at all. Children should learn to properly walk before starting to run and so should gaming flesh out 4k with all its finesses before 8k should be a talking point. I could see past RTX 5090 that 4K will never be a problem again unless poor omptimized games. Like there are games that a 4090 achieves 60fps1080p in lol. But with good games? Yeah I think RTX 5090 could be that point unless its a dissapointingly small upgrade over the already very capable 4090.

I have a QN900B 85 inch 8K TV and the difference in detail and sharpness is noticeable over a 4k picture on OLED in 8K native gaming. You would want to be sitting no more than 6 feet away to see the differences. I did a lot of testing with like 30 games before I decided it was worth keeping. This is a 2022 8K TV.. The ones in 2028 will eat this one for breakfast and will be better than any 4K TV for watching any content just strictly off their ability to use AI upscaling.

We did just been talking about Playstation lose 10 billion dollar in marked share. The Playstation 6 will not help them. First we will see cuts coming. @@theafricanwarlord3343 The pc might have on paper better capabilities, but in order to get a game to work on pc no matter how big those specs look, they have to dumb the game down, via Nixxes to get it to even be able to work on pc, else you would get Horizon, and God of war also Dayz Gone which were generation ending games from last gen that even though were games made for 2012 hardware, still crippled pcs, so Sony had to hire a porting company to port games to pc, you didnt really think these games are just being straight up made for ps5 did you?
