PSA 3rd Gen RAV4 Caliper Pins

OWNERS OF 2006-2012 RAV4'S CHECK YOU BRAKE CALIPER SLIDE PINS!!!
Even dealerships can miss something when doing an inspection and this one was quite dangerous. I wondered why I went through a set of front brake pads in just one year. Turned out it was because the front pads were the only ones that were doing their job!.

Last month I replaced my front brakes and rotors after having some pulsing and vibration when braking. I found out the pins were stuck too. The caliber ring swoll up and stopped the pins from moving. I just took them out and didn’t replace them with a new ring(I probably should at some point). Clean everything out with brake clean and re greased the pins. Brakes smoothly as it should now. I bought the car a year ago with 22,000km but I didn’t noticed any problems with the brakes. I haven’t done the back ones yet because they said they put new brakes on the back when I bought the car but I should probably check it in the spring.

Check it now. The dealer I bought my car from (2 years ago) put new pads in the rear and never noticed the pins were rust/welded to the caliper brackets.

Same thing happened to my 2nd gen rav4 on the front calipers.
