Always good information. Will always watch even when I don't own the stuff your working on. Great to hear from you again. Thanks Ken

2554 here. 15 years and never loose. Just looked at the drive shaft barrels thinking they would need replaced. They looked perfectly fine.

Good deal! You have an aluminum transmission 2554?

@@billmalec well that explains why yours haven't shifted. Completely different setup. I didn't think they made the 2554 in aluminum case.

I have a couple videos showing what type of ground i cut with my 96' Gt2186 with over sized tires which are loaded. I have a solid steel bar bumper that weighs 15lbs also. I changed the hydro fluid two years ago and put in rotella 15w40 oil with a oversized filter and haven't had one issue I'm pushing 890hrs now

Sweet! Will have to check them out.

I was reading somewhere that the 2000 series weren’t garden tractors. It wasn’t until the 2500 series came out that they were. The 2500 had cast iron case and I think a higher end model bdu 10.

The hydro unit and transmission internals are the same as far as I know. The only real difference between the 2500 and 2000 is the trans case itself and the fact that they dropped out the small wheel/tire models. They are all capable of the same work and can pull ground engaging implements without self destructing. The cast case design is more stout, but I think the real advantage is in how it bolts to the frame.

My 2165 has also developed a problem. I mow a lot of hills with this machine and it recently started to freewheel going downhill. It would only do it for a short time then it catches itself and is fine. I changed the trans oil as well as the filter cause i got it from a little old lady and i don't think the oil was ever changed. I got it when it had 140 hours on it back in 2014 now its got almost 5. My thought was the filter might of been plugged. have yet to try it afterwards.

Let me know how it goes. These are pretty good transmissions in general. I would be surprised if it has a major issue hydraulically. I'm wondering if the bypass rod is fully disengaged? Another thing I have seen - which is strange but I wanted to mention it - if the rear tires are very low on air pressure, the rims will spin independently of the tires. Had me scratch my head for a few minutes on one.
@corysgardentractors70843 жыл бұрын
@@SolunaGarage Well i changed the oil and filter and so far so good. I usually keep the rear tire pressure around 10psi. Hopefully it lasts. Got it from me elderly neighbor when she was moving and the thing only had 120 hours on it if my memory serves me right. She was having an issue with the belt breaking. found the deck was not level and throwing the belt and then she would run over the belt cutting it. I'm still having an issue with the belt slipping when i first start it even though its a new belt. But once its running it doesn't slip

If you have the 46" deck, I would take a closer look at the deck belt tensioner and the PTO belt tensioner/double pulley. Those pivots points, if not greased will wear. The deck tensioner is especially prone to premature wear because there is no grease fitting or bushing, just a shoulder washer. Also, the double drive pulley for the PTO/deck belt is prone to getting slop between the bearing races and the pulley housing. Almost every 2000 Series I have in the shop needs work on the bench with this pulley. I remove the bearings, remove the two inner seals, drill and tap for a grease fitting, then reinstall. Upon reinstallation of the bearings I peen the housing tight against the bearings to eliminate the slop. I then fill the cavity with grease and maintain it along with the other pulleys.
@corysgardentractors70843 жыл бұрын
@@SolunaGarage Definitely need a new double drive pulley then. even after peening the housing my bearings are still loose. I'm going to get a new pulley next year so for this year i put a tack weld on the bearing outer race to hold it. Its a little bit better but next year its getting an overhaul

@@SolunaGarage OK, awesome I actually have that same tire on a Cub Cadet 1650, that’s why I was asking. I think they’re really good tires, I have mine loaded with RV antifreeze and they pull like crazy. I am glad to know you have them mounted on series 3000 rims, I just picked up a GT 3200 and it needs tires as well, I wasn’t sure if they would be too low for a series 3000 tractor.
